Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

Yeah ok guys.

I guess when people refer to Soul Calibur as a weapon based fighter they are jackasses because every fighting character ever is a weapon weilder right? At least when it's convenient for our super technical argument.

This raises an interesting point: What kinds of fighting styles have yet to be represented in Smash? I know Azure mentioned Takamaru could be the sheath/unsheathe style. I wonder what else they could still do.

We still need a shape-shifter like Zoroark, a sumo wrestler like Mallo, a puzzle-trap character such as Lip, a tactics fighter like Andy, and, of course, a rhythm-based character trio like the Chorus Kids.

My favorite part about Mac and the one thing I appreciate from a boxing stand point is his weakness in the air. You can't use your feet to shift weight in the air so all it is is basically just swinging your arm trying to get a good hit. It's pretty cool!

So guys, is Wario cut?

Honestly I wouldn't say Villager, WFT, Greninja, Pacman or Lucina were really unique characters, I think people greatly overestimate how "different" the newcomers movesets/playstyles generally are just because Rosalina has a stand, Mac has nerfed aerials and Megaman is a projectile character.
Lucina isn't unique, but nobody else in Smash Bros. plays like Villager, WFT, Greninja, or Pac-Man, nor does anybody else share their aesthetic/"theme." I mean, Sheik is vaguely similar to Greninja on a very superficial level in that Sheik is also sort of a ninja, but that's really where the comparison ends.

Yeah, I couldn't ask for a better moveset for him.

I heard the eShop removed Smash Bros from the Wario section. Is that true? I doubt it means much anyway seeing as it could have been a mistake.

Wario would make sense for a Rhythm Heaven character trailer.

It would honestly make too much sense, they're so similar. I want it to be something weird and off the wall, like Falco in his Arwing saying he's going in and a pop-up box of the Chorus Men going "AAAAAAA" and forcing him to eject to escape the noise.

I hope the lack of Wario so far is because he's getting either a slight Yoshi or even Bowser style retooling.
Well it would be nice if his proportions matched his usual models.

Actually I notice Wario Ware tends to give Wario longer legs than his overalls look. Or maybe his dungarees just hang very low.

Yeah, I doubt anyone expected Falcon in the FE trailer.

They could do something Jiggly and singing too I guess.

I want Wario to use the Ultra Hand as a tether grab. It appears in the WarioWare series, and Wario uses it in Master of Disguise, Mario Power Tennis, and Mario Kart Arcade. It's also just a nice reference to Yokoi/R&D1 in general.

Wario's --> B in Project M felt so good. The Bike sucked outside of recovering but it was so fun to troll with though.

Wario being on his bike period is just a troll image in general.

Wario's bike isn't going anywhere. It's such a big part of his character in the WarioWare games (he's even dressed like a biker).

What do you mean? Like, he's not accurate from the perspective of a real boxer?
Yeah. Everything about him is sloppy, from his footwork to his form. You know, even his air weakness is a bit extreme. Swinging can still result in a strong punch, it's really more because of how easy it is to see coming and avoid than generally being weaker than a punch from weight shifting. He's not faithful to boxing at all.

Which is OK! Fictional character in a Nintendo all star fighting game and all. It's just that as a boxer myself it hit me pretty hard when I saw him at first haha.

I'd imagine even the sword fighters aren't representative of the real thing either.

No, I totally get that. I agree, Little Mac doesn't need to confirm to a realistic boxing style, but it would drive me crazy if I knew anything about boxing.

The bike was one of his best moves and made his defensive playstyle that much better. It also gave him a solid keepaway game with the tires. The bike's utility is amazing.

I don't want it to go.
