Y'know, if Ganondorf had to be a clone, Ike would probably make the most sense. Heavy sword user with really powerful attacks. Just swap out the aether animation with some kind of dark energy thing, and change quick draw to an animation of TP pig-ganon dashing.

I wouldn't want that at all. If Ganondorf has to be a clone I think he's the best as he is.

If anything, the problem isn't that Ganondorf isn't using a sword in Smash, it's that he's not punching the shit out of things in Zelda games. I love how he FEELS in Brawl, he's like a Fist Wizard. He sucks, sure, but he feels satisfying to play as. I would like to see him get a moveset revamp but I would want them to keep how hefty and brutal he feels in Brawl.

XY were great... until the postgame. Other than online stuff and Looker missions, there was nothing. Them being the first games in the generation is no excuse, either. DP had an entire mini-region to explore in the Battleground, BW had the eastern half of Unova, and BW2 has the northwest corner and southern Unova along with the PWT. XY adds a tiny city. Whoop-de-doo!

I'd say that gen 5 is the best. It gave us cool designs like Eelektross, Sawsbuck, Terrakion, and Mienshao. Every game had a great postgame (especially BW2 with the World Tournament). It had solid music. It was also my first region, so maybe I'm a little bit biased....

Just try to make it to member status, OK.

I'm not a junior member, I'm a juniored member!

I've never been banned due to posts in smashGAF and I am way more abrasive and condescending than you.

Posts in SmashGAF don't scare me, I never feel like I'll get banned in here. It's when I leave that scares me lol.

i played smash on 3ds at hyper japan in london last week by the way

pit's recovery is awful

Explain, was it hard to use? It seemed to cover a lot of distance in the Direct.

Ganondorf - The Fist Wizard.

Sounds like some sort of not-so-subtle innuendo.

It's 3 directional. You're either going vertically or at a 45 degree angle when you launch it and you've barely any control after the launch. I'm not sure why it's been locked to 3 directions, because it seems like a really odd design choice.

Like fox recovery then..

Can you use it horizontally?

Ganondorf may blow chunks in Brawl but I'll be damned if he isn't one of my most used characters, not just because the TP design is Best Dorf but also because as you say his heavy hitting moveset is just immensely satisfying.
Despite the fact that his cloning from Falcon is still apparent he really does feel so much more unique than in melee where he was simply like Captain Falcon's slower yet stronger purple flame counterpart, even with a similar base he was expanded upon enough to feel sufficiently brutal and unique enough in his own right, Flame Choke is the nuts with the multiple options of facesplosion, chokeslam and chokeslam to hell (aka suicide edition).

Coming to think of it nuts to Ganondorf's sword, he can keep it up his backside like he appeared to in Brawl, I'll be fine with a few more Ganondorf references like the energy balls and what not to diversify him further but I'll keep his hard hitting strikes over the sword any day.
I can only hope Hyrule Warriors follows suit and he mostly punches and grapples everyone like he's rocking the gauntlets from other Dynasty Warriors games only with more dark magic and inexplicable explosions.

I hated Gen 5. The only Pokemon generation I never beat. I even thought maybe White was just bad and White 2 would be better, so I bought it, but never got the drive to even turn it on.

I found the artstyle of the game to be hideous and confusing. The region was just outright boring, nothing about it stood out to me. The Pokemon designs were questionable. 75% of the game's new Pokemon are fillers or legendaries because they had this asinine idea to not use any old Pokemon so "random cave enemy" and "random fish" had to be redesigned and added for no real reason other than because they wouldn't use old Pokemon. The 4th gen had too many legendaries and the 5th gen makes the 4th gen legendaries look tame in numbers.

The 5th gen had some great designs (Galvantula is a fav of mine), but they were usually hidden beneath random rat thing and bat monster that's totally not a slightly different zubat. It was additions for the sake of additions and it ended up making the Pokemon look unfocused.

I've never said "This doesn't even feel like a Pokemon game at all... meh why am I playing it" when playing a Pokemon game that wasn't White.

I assumed that, since you only joined in March and approval takes forever, that you were still a regular junior. My bad.

It's cool, I was somewhat joking lol. I'm not at all sure which is the more shameful title to have, junior member or juniored member. Don't you need like a ton of posts to become a full-fledged member again?

Smash RPG would be amazing.

Who would develop it? There's so many ways it could go, many of them good, many of them bad.
Persona Team, Gamefreak, or Intelligent Systems Smash RPG would be amazing. Final Fantasy team Smash RPG...then I'd get a bit worried.

Seems weird. So it's 45 degrees, straight up, and straight right/left? The angle in the direct looked somewhere lower than 45 degrees.

Historians have returned to the historical site of the Battle of Hastings and unearthed this previously hidden tapestry. Who knows what the people of Medieval England meant when they wrote this message.

Yes. Fuck the sword, I want to plant my fist directly into someones face and then stomp them into the abyss.

It would make sense for it to be disabled during hitstun.

No, I meant after he used Up + B. He would grabbed the ledge automatically after he used up + B, but he didn't.

I guess auto-ledge might be out in a sense or become more stricter.

Not everyone's recovery moves did in Brawl. Pit's may be like that now.

Really? Maybe the characters that I don't really use might have that kind of recovery moves.

The stomp, the forward aerial, the up aerial flip, the exploding electric hug, the weird ass down smash. Four most satisfying moves in the game, and Ganondorf has all of them. Plus Ganonciding if you play Brawl/Project M.

I'm pretty sure once you lose you thread-making privileges you aren't getting them back unless you can make a VERY good case to the mods. On the other hand, I don't think getting banned results in an automatic perma like with regular juniors.

...but its still kind of amazing.

You can see the moment that Pit regains control of his movement in that vertical maneuver. It's about the same amount of time to regain control if you go at an angle, so you could potentially overshoot it and fall off of the OTHER edge. I saw someone do that on Prism Tower.

Pretty sure captain Falcon has him beat with just knee and Falcon Punch. Warlock Punch might be stronger and harder to land but it still isn't even close to the Falcon version

Im ok with Dorf having a Brawler's moveset

Just make him not suck and even more different than Captain.

Why? He already plays heavily different than Ganondorf. The only times Ganon ever feels like a gimped version of Falcon is during his neutral-a and neutral-special, neither of which Ganon or Falcon use often, aside from showing off in the case of neutral-special. I just don't think the extra effort to make them slightly more different would really put out anything worth it.

Knee is cool but overated. I knee you in the air at a low percent, who the hell cares. I stomp you in the air at a low percent, you hit the fucking ground, you dead, that's it.

Ugh, could see myself failing many times with him then.

Ganonciding is fun but it's so good in Project M because of all the followups it has, choke slam into wizard foot is great.

Also when you do a sequence of great reads on where the other player is going to roll and you end up stringing 4+ choke slams together into a wizard foot finisher.

Choke slam -> down tilt -> forward aerial (choke slam -> running neutral -> running neutral -> forward aerial, depending on percent, character, ect.). So damn good. So, so, so damn good.

Today's pic is the eighth in a row where we've gotten new information. Is that a record?

I think we've only had two days of no info in July, one of which was right after the newcomers, so I wouldn't really count it.

I would imagine that the pace would keep up with new informations because we are getting close to release date in Japan.

Actually, it shouldn't be a hard thing to do.. Even as a mode in a "mainline" game.

I can see Kingdom Heart-vibe where Ganondorf, Bowser, Dr. Wily, Dr. Robotnik, Hades and few villains would team up to create a huge group that would trying to dominate many universes. However it wouldn't happens because it would be ridiculously expensive to make the games since you have to work on many different universes, enemies, etc.

Kid Icarus
Mario
Legend of Zelda
Donkey Kong Country
Kirby
Star Fox
Pokemon

Yeah, in Melee Ganondorf sucked a lot in terms of how he felt. I was initially disappointed when I heard he was still a Falcon clone when Brawl came out in Japan, but once I got to actually play as him he just felt so much better. I would want them to take his punchmagic farther with a unique moveset rather than just give him the sword. Give him the Dead Man's Volley and a teleport recovery for a little Zelda flavor but keep the chokeslam and the incredibly-named Wizard's Foot for the love of god, this is all I ask.

Actually, it shouldn't be a hard thing to do.. Even as a mode in a "mainline" game.

I would've loved a "Tales of..." like RPG mode for Smash Wii U. You'd have an overworld, and entering a fight would create a randomly generated stage for the fight. And since they already have a stat change system, they could tie it into that mode as well.

Good to see I have Brawlerdorf brethren out there.

Speaking of the satisfaction of a good thunderous stomp and even bringing in the Cap's Knee for a second I'm reminded of the joy that can come with Brawl's timer item for those occasions where you would slow down your opponent and then strike them with a powerful electric move that causes that momentary stun like those and Zelda's lightning kick and then proceed to place in one or two more before the opponent shot off like a rocket thanks to the timers slowing effect.
There's nothing quite like it.

More like most immersive set of three caves and a house thanks to the 3D amirite.

I chuckled for a good while at this.
