Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

Rayman should only be alt for Sukapon.

Rayman is versatile enough to be one for him.

Though Rayman would probably get in over him and be prided as first western rep playable.

You're totally right about this thread being embarrassing sometimes. I especially love the complaints about the Paper Mario stage being only for 3DS because 1) the Wii U may well have a different Paper Mario stage, and 2) half the people who upset about it being exclusive were bitching because "the grassland is so boring!" and "they based it off the worst Paper Mario game!" Then the TTYD section was shown and they did a complete 180.

People are just determined to find something to complain about.

Rogueport would be perfect: not only does it best represent TTYD, you could have Robbos and Piantas brawling on the stage, either in the background or as a stage hazard
but it would be a walk-off so it would be #BANNED

Thats fine, I really dont care about the tourney scene lol.

This game is taking an agonizingly long time to get released. Can't believe it was announced at E3 in 2011 and here we are approaching 2015...

Hey, be grateful it has not taken as long as say, The Last Guardian or Final Fantasy 15 where we know VERY LITTLE of the game. At least with smash we got the PotD. Plus, the wait has been a wild ride on Smash GAF. Fun times.

Has the potd caption gone up yet?

Yep.

"What's up with this bomb? This looks like the stadium for the Home-run Contest, but there's no bat. Once you touch the bomb, it begins to count down. Give it enough damage and launch it at the right time…then once the bomb's countdown hits zero…!!
...It goes BOOOOOM! Not only will the blast destroy targets, but it'll also cause a chain reaction by using shattered walls and bomb blocks--all of which contributes to you getting a high score!! This is a new activity that combines the concepts of Target Smash and the Home-run Contest--it's called Target Blast! Your final score is the total you rack up over two rounds. Of course, your Target Blast scores contribute to your Global Smash Power, too."

Oh man, reading this really bummed me out. I'm rootin' for you buddy!

Thanks brospeh. Didn't mean to bum you out. And I still have plenty of faith. There's a whole month left!

BTW sorry if you guys have added me from the doc and I haven't added you back. I'm going to be going through the doc and adding everyone, I've just been supremely addicted to Donkey Kong lately. I don't know what happened. Pretty much all of my free time has been going to it.

Anyway I've been streaming it and continuing to try and pump up my score. If you're interested in getting hype for the ape in Smash come on by,

Thats because DK TF may be one of the best platformers of all time. It has great level design and great music. That game alone makes it worth owning a Wii U. Speaking of the doc, I need to add myself to that. Gonna need people to play against once the Wii U version comes out.

No worries, I just know how important this kind of thing is. Yeah, it's just a video game, but (at least for me) it's the cornerstone of my free time and interests. That's why I hate anyone wanting someone else's favorite character cut. I despise Waluigi, but if he gets in I'm happy for his fans.

And I meant to comment on your DK run in the thread you made, but that's awesome! I actually rewatched King of Kong with my girlfriend last night and it has me in a very arcade-y mood.

He's talking about the original Donkey Kong game.

Considering this year is the 15th anniversary of Smash, Smash 4 should have returning stages from all 3 previous Smash games. Would love to see Hyrule Castle and Saffron City from 64 return.

Yes to the first, I didn't like Saffron City at all though. Kirby's Dreamland would be my pick alongside Hyrule Castle!

This. That stage was horrible. Really the only stage that I feel needs to return on the Wii U one is Onett. Thats been the best stage so far in the whole Smash series.

True, Onett is a fantastic stage, it better return. There are few stages as good as this one.

I just wish for more organic stages than in SSBB, too many 'floating platforms in front of a background' type of stages. Oh and a better huge one than New Pork City, Hyrule Temple is great, NPC is terrible.

This is crying out for a Geoff Keighley shop.

Gerstmann with Yoshis?

I fucking hope all the break the target test are different and unique like melee and not that shiitu boring stuff from brawl. T_T

YES. The ones in Melee were designed to utilize the character's move sets for the most part, while in Brawl it was just like "oh lol don't jump on the spikes. watch out for that bomb"

So judging by the potd, it's going to be a slow weekend.

Has the famitsu article about the game's speed been translated yet? I want to know if it says anything about them improving it from the E3 demo.

Awesome, still hope there will be a regular Smash the Target though.

Always liked that Ice Climber's BTT stage was a direct reference to how the original game looked vs the re-imagined battle stage.

Hell yeh. It's the same way I think too, especially for veterans. It can be especially rough with Snake sometimes because "he doesn't belong", but I'll just never understand that way of thinking especially with him being a vet an all.

And that's such a well done film. DK64 initially ignited my interest in it, but that movie made me interested in the score aspect when it came out. Recently a bar near to me got a machine and I started trying for score, I got addicted. My runs on stream tonight were pretty bad though.

Ehhh original DK is kinda boring. Nothing too special.

I completely disagree with this and completely agree that it's apples an oranges, but to each his own. But I also do like apples and oranges, and TF is a wonderful game.

I just better not see 75m.

I still have no idea why they chose to use that stage over something like the barrel board or the rivets stage. It's such a bad layout for Smash, where the others I could see working. And the barrel stage is much more iconic. Sucks because I think it was a great idea for a stage, it was just no fun to play and it'll probably never be tried again.

Haha, I was surprised I actually remembered Ganondorf's break the targets, I immediately recognized it.

These were such a drag in Brawl. And there were trophies for clearing every level with every character, terrible and monotonous. I actually 100%'d Melee (i.e. all trophies, I didn't get all of the absurd notices like 100k-1 mil vs matches) but couldn't bring myself to repeating the feat in Brawl.

I give it a week, maybe two, before we have very reliable leaks, possibly backed with photos, from the Japanese 3DS Version.

Someone is going to get this game early, and chances are they will post everything to the Internet.

Oh, definitely more than a week or two imo. I give it till late August. They kept Pokemon, which release globally, from having full-on release leaks till about 3 weeks before release. So I'm guessing the same for Smash.

Anyways, if Rayman were to be playable in the game, a Gamescom-timed reveal would make a ton of sense for the first European character* in Smash.

*not counting Diddy.

The game hasn't even gone gold yet. I can maybe see stuff happening after September 1st though. Not to mention the insane amount of fakes we will see the two or so weeks before legit so we will have no idea what's real and what's not. Remember the Pokemon XY leaks? No one knew who to trust.

I don't know, I think this game, people will be actively looking for ways of getting the game early. I'm sure there were for Pokemon too, but Smash just seems a lot larger of a leak hungry fan base. But I could see late August.

If Rayman was playable, they wouldn't have showed off his trophy as if it were nothing special.

True, this is a game that people very actively want to know more about. But there will be copies floating around in fewer regions, so a leak is less likely to be as early. At least that's how I'd think about it.

I donno, people were pretty damn hungry for Pokemon, plus there were many countries trying to get it early. I mean, shit, Europe and Canada were responsible for most of the leaks then, so it's hard to tell where, if anywhere, in Japan the game came out early.

And true...but at the same time, I donno. Ain't no predicting Sakurai.
