Am I the only one that wonders the fate of Meta knight and Ice climbers?
Sakurai nerfed Olimar real easy but has no plans on displaying his golden boy.I feel like he could be stronger character and have new tricks to play around with.It would have been ideal if they were playable in demo and they took some feedback on them but that didn't happen at all and they could be shipped in prime form. Some believe that Sakurai would change Meta Knight for greater good but who puts all their faith in him?
Speaking of Meta Knight and the Ice climbers , they were apart of brawl's starting roster and now they might be hidden for some odd reason. Smash direct could show them but it could also display some other veterans and some newcomers instead.
Isn't it odd for a developer to not address things that were of high concerns to people early on?
yeah longhairdorf looks fucking badass
So, will the Dragoon and Daybreak appear at same time?
If it is like in KIU, it will be like Samus' Final Smash
Oh man, the Daybreak. Awesome. It looks like it's going to be as badass in this as it was in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
It'll probably be as one-sided as the Dragoon in 1v1 matches, but it should be a blast (literally) in FFAs! Funny how with updates like these, you can tell the "pro" Melee fanatics from everyone else just in their immediate reactions.

Pic of the day. Look at these three radiant pieces... Yup, you guessed it! It's another combinable item like the Dragoon-the Daybreak.

This is what it looks like when all three parts are combined together. How powerful will its beam blast be? FYI, you can fire shooting items while moving backward and forward. Change direction by flicking the Control Stick or Circle Pad toward the back of the fighter.
even my casual friends will ask to have smash balls and dragoon turned off when they play.
Dragoon was a stupid item, Day Break is going to be a stupid item.
More fun than Dragoon imo, I'd rather face a giant beam & be rewarded with a giant beam than a targetted auto-kill.
Getting real tired of this shit.
Before I even knew about competitive play I always turned items off, and that was when they weren't designed to be complete bullshit - even my casual friends will ask to have smash balls and dragoon turned off when they play.
Dragoon was a stupid item, Day Break is going to be a stupid item.
Okay, I'll reword what I said: you can always tell the "pro" Melee players and the anti-item crowd at a glance by their unnaturally angry/kneejerk negative reactions to these kinds of updates. Better?
Anyway, you should probably specify that everything you're saying is subjective. It's your opinion. I only say that because you're claiming these things like they're facts.
Like I said: the Dragoon kinda sucks in 1v1, but it's a blast in FFA matches (IMO, of course). Sorry you don't feel the same way, but you not liking something doesn't make it stupid... I shouldn't have to explain this.
Ganondorf next week? Ganondorf next week.
Day break will probably end up being like Zelda's final smash, a fullscreen horizontal auto kill.
Either that or just somewhat reduced knockback and you can shoot it a couple of times.
I have next to nothing on lately that should stop me from doing stuff and I've wanted to do some OT stuff for awhile now, so if you PM me what you wanted I could mock-up some stuff and if you like what you see we could go on from there.I'm working on the OT for The Mysterious Murasame Castle's NA VC release (first time ever). Anyone want to help with graphical stuff? I JUST NEED COOL HEADERS.
Could be, I liked daybreak in KIU though. More so than Dragoon in Brawl.
It's much easier to dodge day break in KI:U than it's probably going to be in smash just because of the increased movement options you have in KI:U, being not 2D and all, it doesn't feel like bullshit like it probably will in smash.
Are you even going to give this thing a chance?

Apparently, recoveries are finally going to be nerfed in the next version of PM.
The thing that annoys me is you always put pro into quotation marks, comes across as you trying to dispute whether people who are good at the game actually are or not just because they don't want to introduce a load of bullshit factors.
Also since when the fuck do you need to specify something is subjective on a discussion forum? That goes without saying, you should specify when you're implying something is objective.

Why not both?Real menuse items.
What do you think this is? Taco day?Why not both?
Anyone have an idea of who they're going to main? From the footage I've seen and bit that I've played, Villager will certainly be one of mine. Mario looks impressive, too.
Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm not setting out to annoy you or anyone else by doing that. Chalk it up to a difference of opinion between us: I do that precisely because you can't call people who are only the best under specific conditions and rulesets and only on a handful of stages out-and-out pros. They're pros, sure; when they have the game specifically tailored to them. Ergo, they aren't really pros in every sense of the word, but the narrative is often presented to seem like they are.
Interesting side note: but is this the first brand new item we've seen since the smash direct?
Wasn't the boomerang shown post-direct?
E: Actually, no, I think you may be right.

At least in 2008 people talked about low-level mechanics. Now it's mostly about the item switch. Pretty boring. The competitive vs casual talk is ingratiating. There is no ground to be gained on either side. It's like the world war I of gaming forum debates.
There's no way I don't play as all of the starters within the first day.I'm just going to limit myself to playing 1 character per week in the online mode and training until I'm relatively proficient with each character, or atleast have an idea about what they provide to a matchup and then after that start to specials in my favourite 3 characters.
A pro player melee player will be able to beat a casual melee player with items on 99% of the time if there are actual stakes on the line to stop them sandbagging/not playing to win.
And a pro brawl player will do the same to a casual brawl player.
There isn't some massive change that items introduce that we're somehow not able to deal with and we end up shitting ourselves, there isn't some massive amount of depth to items that we haven't discovered but casuals have just because we don't use them, we remove them because we don't want competitive smash to be influenced by random factors.

They'd have to intentionally go out of their way to do that I swear. The Falcon twins were aaaaaaaawful in Brawl.Captain Falcon, DK, Zelda, in order of frequency.
Same as in Melee, same as in Brawl.
I do want to try out Little Mac and Greninja as well as all the newcomers so that might change yet. Impossible to say though.
Nobody will replace Cap, even if he's somehow even worse than he was in Brawl.

If you want take this argument to its logical conclusion, then you can't really be considered a pro at Melee unless you also hold world records in Home-Run Contest. Nah, mate. If you play the game professionally, you're a pro. That's just how it is. Sorry if that bothers you.I do that precisely because you can't call people who are only the best under specific conditions and rulesets and only on a handful of stages out-and-out pros.
