I think people just make that association given Sakurai's history and the development trouble plaguing the then Kirby GameCube title.

I'm not surprised OT10 went so quick. We got two newcomers in one trailer, plus the fan favorite veteran. Of equal importance, the trailer basically rewrote the narrative on "Gematsu as gospel." Along with discussion of how Robin works and Lucina's clone-dom, and some surprisingly strong Miiverse updates (Star Fox stage, etc), we had enough hype to coast to 200 pages, easy.
July 14th; a trailer dropped 3 characters on us, blowing away the iron-clad certainty of the Gematsu leak, reintroducing a well-known and liked veteran and adding two new awesome additions from the cast that saw few coming.
For us, the day Sakurai's trailer graced our interwebs, was the hypest day of our smashgaf lives. But for Sakurai... it was a Monday

I agree that it's just inference. But the SSE does play exactly like a Kirby game and the SSE has a ton of cut Kirby enemies.

As a standard I don't believe leaks and rumors about stuff that happens on development teams. I'd rather hear about it from the horses's mouth not some guy on the internet's brother's friend when was the janitor for Sakurai's office.

Right. It wasnt bad at all and had its own appeal, but it was a bit different than what I had envisioned it would be. It went something like this "Some of the characters are on a bus on the way to the stadium. Samus is there. Donkey Kong is there and Snake is watching the bus from afar." It was like that. (laughs) I had envisioned a more serious tone for the story. Something with some misfortunelike a single character escaping total annihilation of his squadron and then fighting back while rounding up his allies. Ultimately, we worked together and successfully organized our ideas into the storyline for The Subspace Emissary.
It is a heavy strong points for a video game, if someone knows exactly, where a situation is in a game, only based on simple imagery.

Hopefully soon. I'm genuinely curious as to how his reveal would work, or what his CG pose will end up looking like.
I don't expect it for at least another week or two, though, given we only got Robin/Lucina ten days ago. Even though the 3DS game launches in September (in Japan, anyway), I'd imagine Sakurai still wants to space things out a bit.
Been listening to Smashing Live! again. Maaaan, I really want some live orchestra in this game.

I could see them introducing newcomers much faster than they've been doing it with the release date drawing closer, we've got what? Seven more weeks left until the game is fully released, can't hide them all

I actually like Norfair a lot. I don't think it works quite as well as something standalone, but as a track accompanying a Metroid stage, it gels right into the tone and setting.

EDIT: in hindsight I should've replaced the skull on his cap with the smash logo
I really do think that the full roster will be announced prior to release (otherwise all four Fire Emblem characters wouldnt have been revealed yet). And since the 3DS version comes out in exactly seven weeks from today in Japan, Sakurai is going to have to burn through the following in a month:
