Well I am Kirby fan and I don't want stuff like Waddle Dee in the game, so yeah. To each their own.
A giant blue plane hammerhead shark dragon that flies at supersonic speeds and attacks with earthquakes... And she's also a gal!
And then she transforms into the grim reaper.
Square Enix doesn't give a fuck.
That said, Game Freak is also highly protective of its IP and its clear that they want the focus to be on the Pokemon, not the trainers.

i will have to agree to that as well ( i really would like to see another pkmn trainer situation maybe in the next game or dlc) but yeah i do think pokemon should take priority

Yeah. Alternatively, "they want the focus to be on what is popular, not in some Generation IV character most people don't even remember anymore". That said, Cynthia isn't a character I am really rooting to see in Smash, mostly because I think she has no chances and because Pokémon is well served as far are reps are concerned.
To be fair, people remember Garchomp.
It's the most popular Pokemon in official tournaments, it got a mega with gen IV, and overall it's just badass.

Ah, I was referring to Cynthia. Sure, she appears in Generation V games, but I think her popularity is very limited for a Smash Bros rep contender.
Garchomp is extremely popular. It and Lucario are probably the most popular Gen IV Pokémon.

i always thought its popularity was also raised because of cynthia (or at least in my head it was lol since that battle was probably the most memorable champion battle i had in any pkmn series bar maybe steven)
