I think, unless there's a good reason otherwise, all the characters should probably be in english in the US version. I imagine NOA kind of regrets having that first Melee Marth appearance in japanese, but it's not like he had an english voice and they probably figured it's pretty nice that they can just not have to worry about it.

This isn't really true at all. He prioritizes other things, but still likes his games to be full of personality. Sometimes that prioritization can be off-kilter (Sticker Star was an overreaction to feedback on Super Paper Mario, which had other problems they didn't identify), but he's not an SS officer going to basements looking for any semblance of story so he can rip it out while he laughs and laughs.

Miyamoto's game design philosophy is that the act of playing the game should always be its own reward. This is why you'll occasionally find unlockables in his games that have no tangible benefits, because he is of the belief that the process of unlocking it was what the player should really be enjoying. Again, not something that always works out. He's not averse to story and characterization, he just doesn't want it getting in the way of the gameplay.

Just look at the Pikmin series, for example. Especially Pikmin 3.

I am pretty sure Takamaru had voiced English dialogue in SW3, and even Japan-Only Lucas had (only) English VA. it really wouldn't make much sense for him to speak Japanese in the west.

NOA was going to remove Marth and Roy from the US melted, I imagine if they had required new voices they would have leaned more towards cutting them

Which would have been a terrible idea, I have no idea what was going through their heads to even humor the idea. Imagine where the Fire Emblem series would be today without melee. Certainly not in the US lol

I started my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles (that I had sitting on the shelf for over a year, unplayed, lol) not too long before the Robin and Lucina reveal, since I was expecting Shulk. Thankfully Shulk wasn't revealed then, giving me more time to beat the game before his potential reveal. I'm 80 hours in now at the final stretch of the game, and I'm VERY glad I played it! I'm surprised at how much I love the game, especially considering that I usually don't care for RPGs like this, but man, the story keeps pulling me in, the gameplay is fun, and the game world is amazing!

Back air: Takamaru dropkick

Oh so you passed Fallen Arm already, that was my favorite area in the Mechonis.

Also, a heads up. In Agniratha there are some items for the Colony 6 reconstruction quest, but after an event they won't be there anymore. (You can still get them by trade, but its REALLY hard) so try to collect EVERYTHING you see.

Yeah, I know. They could definitely play differently, but on a surface level they have a lot of similarities. Sort of bittersweet, but no way I'm about to complain about getting Robin in; that guy is going in my mains rotation regardless of play style. I guess I just got a thing for magic sword wielders.

I honestly think the Murasame Castle coming to VC is hinting more at Takamaru being in Hyrule Warriors. It makes so much sense since him and Link are "brothers", in a sense of how their original games played, and him already being in a Warriors.

Funny thing is, Yuri Lowenthal I'm pretty sure can actually speak Japanese decently (see how in Naruto he actually pronounced everything correctly). So it's sort of meta they got him to do the over-the-top accent.

I feel you. It's great to have Fire Emblem properly represented with not everyone being a sword user. Also, Fire Emblem is the more active series and, even though it's a tough call, it makes more sense to have Robin over Isaac.

Even though they both have a combination of melee and magic attacks, Robin has no equivalent to the summon attacks I'd expect Isaac's moveset to make heavy use of. They'd be as similar as Mewtwo and Lucario.

5. Chrom + Lucina (eventually I kind of tired of this idea, haha)

9. Tiki (a Manakete would be the hypest thing ever, way better than Ridley)

Most of Smash 4's newcomers have more or less been things I never knew I wanted, haha, and so I think this list has seen some casualties (both good and bad), buuut if I thought about how it looked now...

1. Anna
2. Viridi
3. Takamaru (all the iaido stuff really caught my attention, haha)
4. Inkling
5. Nephenee (Robin blew the door wide open, haha)
6. Hades
7. Medusa
8. Shulk (by this time I'd actually played Xenoblade)

Can't really think of a tenth that I'd really care about, to be honest. Really, I could live with most of that list being out at this point, haha. That said, I'm still adamant in believing that Anna would be an amazing FE rep, even if Robin stole her Levin Sword (she's still got the time-surfing merchant angle!), although I think I've got my expectations in check with regards to how that'll go in the end. In the end, I'm pretty happy with the newcomers as is, and if nothing else, I got Palutena and Robin. I kinda wish Sakurai would indulge himself, though, and add a bunch more FE and KI:U characters. :lol
