Worst week ever.

Takamaru deconfirmed
Can't even make a stage based on the best Paper Mario game
Item that's not even from Nintendo
Stage based on the DUMBEST MOMENT IN POKEMON HISTORY
Nintendo shows they are creatively bankrupt with Angry Bombs

Next week I predict Ridley deconfirmed, an item based on Sonic 06, and a mode called Yoshi Crush Saga.

And I don't know what you think "the best Paper Mario game" is, but that stage totally had a TTYD transformation.

Hmm alright update.

I can see this mode being frustrating though.

Finding the right spot to get the most points is one thing, but getting the bomb to the right %, launching it with the right powered attack, and the right angle etc is another, and I think this is going to be more frustratingly random than anything else.

The N64 version is the best game because it doesn't have ridonkulous backtracking like TTYD.

Which moment is that?

A giant castle suddenly popping out of the ground with all these legendary Pokemon that then burst in... man I don't even want to talk about it. But I think Gen VI may have topped it with ANCIENT POKEMON NUKE

I think it was N's castle rising out of the ground around the pokemon league.

If you haven't played black/white, at the end, what you think is your elite 4 run ends with a battle with the Big Bad Evil Guys instead, and if you want to actually face the real champion, you come back in the post-game to fight the massively-leveled-up elite 4, followed by him.

I grew up on the N64 version for Paper Mario and nostalgia is a huge factor for me. But by far, TTYD is the better version. Can anyone tell me if its a 99% vote on that?

TTYD is such a more robust and lively game than the original with snappier dialogue and better battle mechanics.

I'm biased though, TTYD is probably my all-time favorite game.

It will be Silver as an AT. He will shout "IT'S NO USE!" over and over and everyone dies.

I liked both.

You will not speak ill of the Parakarry letter quest.

TTYD has a better battle system I admit, but the main story and pacing is not as good as Paper Mario 64. PM64 is probably my favorite game of all time though, so keep that in mind. I still love TTYD but PM64 > TTYD.

I assume N's castle. I wasn't particularly fond of the direction B/W took with the story either. Id prefer more minimalistic if the most "mature and complex" stories they can come up with is B/W and XD but to each their own. I admittedly dont care too much about the story though so it doesn't affect me that much either way. The only story I really liked was more so the mythology of 2nd gen with Ho-oh and the sacred beasts and the Unown. I wish they did more so ancient myth stuff like that than their other attempts. X/Y kind of did that which I liked.

True, there was nothing quite like Twilight Town in the N64, but Dry Dry Desert, Gusty Gulch, and Lavalava Island all had a bit of backtracking.

haha can't disagree with you there. The Pokemon nuke was the weirdest thing.

No chapter of PM64 is on par with Glitzville.

This.. the Paper Mario stage should have been for WII U

What's up with this bomb? This looks like the stadium for the Home-run Contest, but there's no bat. Once you touch the bomb, it begins to count down. Give it enough damage and launch it at the right time…then once the bomb's countdown hits zero…!!

...It goes BOOOOOM! Not only will the blast destroy targets, but it'll also cause a chain reaction by using shattered walls and bomb blocks--all of which contributes to you getting a high score!! This is a new activity that combines the concepts of Target Smash and the Home-run Contest--it's called Target Blast! Your final score is the total you rack up over two rounds. Of course, your Target Blast scores contribute to your Global Smash Power, too.

64 didn't have as complex a main story, though; there wasn't much pacing to do at all. Bowser steals the Star Rod and kidnaps Peach, and the only real developments are Peach figuring out where the next Star Spirit is hidden. As for that letter quest...so much work, all for a Lucky Day badge. Not nearly worth it.

But TTYD happens to be my favorite game of all time, so I'm equally as biased as you, just in the opposite direction :) Lotta love for PM64, though.

Anyway, Assault Great Fox implies we'll get Panther/Leon Star Wolf right? Much better than a pig and monkey.

The idea of this rubs me the wrong way - mobile games? In my Smash? get outta here! - but the pics make it look like fun. I'm looking forward to it.

This is so similar to ordinary PotD reactions around here, no one would have known you were drunk if you hadn't said it lol

Yea I've lurked SmashGaf for too long. Even in this drunken state I knew it was a normal reaction. Oh well maybe next week.

Having just finished TTYD I feel like 64 was better, though I need to replay it to properly judge.

I wasn't a big fan of the X-Nauts and Grodus and the Shadow Queen. Not that they're bad, I just don't really like brand new races and characters being such star characters, I like Bowser and koopas I guess.

And Toad Town >>>>>>> Rogueport, wasn't a fan of having such a gloomy place be the main hub in a Mario game, though the pianta mafia was great.

I did like Glitzville and the Excess Express and Poshley Heights though. And Goombella <3

Depriving the 3DS Master Race

of the hypest stage of all time?

I'd cancel my preorder if there was only a Paper Mario stage on Wii U.

I just found it strange, with 3 Paper Mario games on consoles, and only 1 on portables. Well, I just hope the possibility for a Paper Mario stage on Wii U is still on.

Haha, man, aside from that last sentence I feel totally opposite about all that. 64 is legit, though.

Wily's Castle just doesn't look right during the day. The 3DS version loses so much by not having the spotlights in the background.

Also, Rogueport is perhaps the greatest hub world ever in a Mario game (at worst, it's tied with Peach's Castle from SM64.) I can't think of another locale that has as much personality and flavor. In what other Mario game do you get in a brawl in the streets and then get mugged as soon as you blow into town? And then fight off sleazy Goombas leering at your girl in the sewers? Not to mention THAT MUSIC.

I know who's running for cynic President this upcoming election day.
