That was kinda fun. The playable villains look good.

Now it's time to announce the date for the August Smash Direct Nintendo. Do it.

For the new page...

Okay.

Those metal renditions of Zelda tunes in Hyrule Warriors?

We need them in Smash.

I'm still in awe, damn. Realistically, what are the chances -any- elements of Hyrule Warriors make it to this installment?

Hmm, I would imagine that Ganondorf update would happens on release date of Hyrule Warrior OR he is being unlockable character again.

I'm guessing unlockable again. I wouldn't be surprised if every villain but Bowser and Dedede (meaning Wario, Wolf, Meta Knight, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, Ridley, and/or K. Rool) ends up unlockable this time around.

Why does being unlock able matter at all?

I take Game & Watch's not being on the site despite being revealed a silent reveal of there being unlockables, personally.

I've wanted scarf Link since HW's unveil but we all know that's not gonna happen :[

Yeah same here. This game has some of the best designs of all of these characters!

The Direct made the game look neat and I'm sure some are more interested. But the real question remains: are people going to freak out at the possibly of potential retailer-exclusive DLC for this game too? (Probably.)

Believe it has already happened...

Maybe it'll be pre-order, retailer exclusive DLC?

... >:(

Siiiiiigh.

Realistically? Nil.

Best case scenario? One or two music tracks managed to weasel their way in at some point in development since they're the most easily added element.

Let's suggest some retailer-specific pre-order DLC for Smash
Not loving the HW Ganondorf, but no design has ever stood up to the OG OoT version, so that's no surprise. Still disappointed we'll be stuck with the "absolute worst" TP version for another Smash...
Windwaker Dorf is my personal fave.

Well there's that SLIGHT chance sakurai was aware of development ahead of time and became interested

How can you disregard WW Dorf like that? He's equal to OOT in my eyes design-wise and he has a better characterization

I will laugh hard if Smash 4's Zelda characters get many of their alternate costumes for free which seem to be for purchase in Hyrule Warriors.

I was half expecting the trademark cross and flames to pop up at the end of that direct.

Guess it's just habit.

I was too.

Anyways, what are the chances that Tecmo fully designed this new Ganondorf? We know that Brawl's Sheik was drawn from a design of Sheik for Twilight Princess, despite Sheik not being in that game. Is there a possibility that this design was drawn from a similar situation for Ganondorf and Skyward Sword? Because if so, that'd greatly increase our chances of getting this glorious Ganondorf in Smash.

For overall versions of the character TWW Ganondorf is EASILY the best. The "I coveted that wind..." speech belongs at the top of any "Greatest Zelda Moments" list. But the pseudo-samurai outfit, with the flowing robes, feels a bit too passive for me, personally. Ganondorf is a warlord and a king, and his clothes don't really reflect either of those things. Admittedly he's sort of a "man in exile" in Wind Waker, so it makes sense, but it doesn't have the same "pop" as his OoT duds.

Mullet: Y/N?

Even more than the "castle suspended over lava," the mullet is our greatest indicator that Ganondorf has gone completely and utterly mad.

The long hair absolutely ruins HW's Ganondorf. I like the TP and WW Ganondorfs. The OoT one looks like a little schoolboy compared to TP's and WW's.

Smashdorf will look like TP's design most likely, so I would be pleased with that. Maybe a few small changes to update his look would be nice.

OOT's Ganondorf is still the only not toon design of his that I like.

And don't you dare take away Brawlerdorf away from me. As awful as he was in Brawl, he was still fun.

While I'd very much dig a Scarf Link alt (Joan Rivers not included), I'd be incredibly satisfied if a couple songs do manage to sneak their way in. That OST is glorious, and would be perfect for Smash shenanigans.

I like the Twilight Princess design, but don't like it for Smash. He just looks so much heavier with that design, which makes for a great and intimidating villain in his own game, but kind of contrasts how free flowing and controllable Ganondorf feels in Smash. Well, the Smashes he's fun in (Melee and Project M), anyways.
