Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Would it ultimately be better to buy an XL, though? I was considering that but now I'm not sure I want to spend $100+ on another 3DS just because my current 3DS' screen is small...

View this screenshot on the 3DS and tell me how you feel, it's not the normal view, but it's the camera at one of the more zoomed out points. If you find it comfortable, you don't need an XL:

i don't think items are a good comparison. I think, in this case, Pokemon is a more fair comparison. In Pokemon, you can get ultra rare pokemon with great stats if you're lucky, and if you play well, you can just destroy with them. Likewise, if you got an ultrarare stat boosting item, you'd always have it to use in your matches-and likewise, someone else would always have whichever ultra rare ones they got.

The only reason IV's are allowed in Pokemon is because it's impossible to take them out of the equation. Hell, just look at how rampant cheating is in the competitive Pokemon community in order to compensate for it.

Maybe, the next Metriod game should have a human villain, so they could be in Smash 5.

Eww, no.

See my edit. I ment to write "equipement" in every single instance :(

Oh lol. I see that now. Still, I think its a bit early to call it too random or not. Uprising had a variety of items with different combinations of effects, but I don't feel that was unbalanced, because if you really wanted a certain combination, it was very possible to obtain.

It should definitely be a part of tournaments day one. Give everyone time to test out custom moves in a competitive setting and if they prove to be a broken mechanic see what needs to be done. Chances are they'll help level the playing field nicely.

But the first year is when things are going to be the largely experimental phase, anyway. I don't think there would be a better time but that first year to really get a handle on just what is possible with all of the characters' moves.

I mean, if other fighting games that have had "Grooves/Isms/Styles" and the like (not to mention MKX coming out early next year) are able to work through most of this stuff in their first year, why can't Smash do similar?

Both of you got a good point there but I'm concerned that it might become mess if they are trying everything at once.

Kinda bummed to hear Mega Man isnt super great right now. Still gonna play my first match with him just cause he is Mega Man in a smash game!

Pauletina being a Tank sounds good...but with custom moves.
Greninja being fun is good news as well.

But hasn't megaman been sort of ass in every fighting game hes been in. For example he is a low tier runaway character in MVC2, so maybe its his overall design.

I could maybe get used to it after looking at that particular image on my 3DS. I think I might wait until I have the game for myself and see how it goes, though, with the default dynamic camera during gameplay. The zoomed out image only gives me a rough idea on how it'll look when everyone is at different parts of the stage and even then it's not exact to how things will look, I think.

I really hope they allow custom move sets at tournaments. It'll stop those matches where the match ups are fully known and so led to a certain style of play. The customisation will allow different results and different games which will, at the very least, keep it always interesting! I hope the rumour is true.

Here's OG 3DS gameplay:

Hrm, yeah I mean I think the only way I'll know if I will like it if it's in my hands. These videos do give a good idea on what I can expect and when things actually go into the match it does look super tiny at times because of how far the camera can zoom out. Could also just be a mix of me being used to Smash being on a bigger screen in general.

Thanks for the links though, Sah.

Holy shit, just read D1's tweet about custom moves being accessible from the CSS. MEGATON for potential competitive viability of custom moves.

THE HYPE NEVER DIES.

MK was suppose to suck in the early days of Brawl too. I wouldn't put too much stock on people tiering characters just yet. The best details are the one that explains changes from Brawl moveset to Smash 4 moveset.

More cooldown on Uair is good news, for example. Combine that with the supposed more start-up on his attacks from Zipzo and I imagine his attacks in general function much more akin to other sword characters (as in, having an actual balance in their speed rather than always being safe like they were in Brawl).
