So question, sorry if I missed it, has there been any mention how much content this game will have relative to SSBB? Brawl spoiled me, So I want a ton of stuff this go around.

I'm fully prepared for people to criticize the idea of Toon Zelda, only for that character to become a newcomer, everyone ends up loving her, and they all abandon Zelda for her just like what happened with Toon Link for many. I mean honestly, why is Link even here?
Real Zelda can take a hike if I get Down-B Tetra.

Just give her a faster recovery and viola- instantly far better than Brawl Zelda.
But for real, Zelda was always really fun to me so I'd welcome Toon even if she was a clone. That and Tetra would be awesome as playable.

With the update break and all, I figured it's a good time to revise my roster predictions. Here's my predicted Smash Bros. roster for 2014!
I don't expect EVERY character on this roster to make the cut, but these are all of the characters that I can imagine making it in. I expect 45-50 characters total.
Damn son, replace that 5th Zelda rep with a Gen 5 or Gen 6 Pokemon rep and this is absolutely identical to my prediction/dream roster.

nah man, when the next Smash Bros discussion thread comes up for the next game(s) in the series, we're going to have a Ridley discussion for the 4th time, forgetting that there's a reason he got ignored the first 3 times
Really good list. I agree with the vast majority of it. Just switch the extra Zelda slot to Sheik, get rid of new Fire Emblem character, cut Lucario, and I think that's where we'll end up, roughly. There's 35 characters in Brawl (40 if we count transformations and each Pokemon of the PKT individually.) 50 characters in For 3DS/Wii U would mean 10 newcomers. (49 spots and 9 newcomers if we leave one spot for the random selection.)

I think that's a very bankable, realistic roster prediction, and I love the simplicity of it and how you used the colours from the site as well.
I think we'll definitely have some surprises, to shake it up a bit, but otherwise that's a safe roster to bet on.

Great list but IMO Lucario will be replaced with a sixth gen rep, Mewtwo will return due to popular demand and Ike will be replaced with Chrom.

Dark Link was already in Brawl as alts for both Link and Toon Link.

Would I be upset if Jigglypuff ended up cut? Yes. Would I boycott a game with an amazing amount of effort put into it? Now that's just silly.
Jigglypuff isn't exactly as relevant as she used to be, either. Even with the new Fairy typing.
While I do think Jigglypuff is holding back a chance at a new character for the Pokemon series, a part of me does want her to stay. So, I get where everyone is coming from.

This would be pretty great. There's a few characters here I wouldn't count on making it in, like Shulk, Little Mac, and Takamaru, and I'm not totally confident Snake'll be back, but if that did turn out accurate I'd be totally satisfied.

Snake being gone would be a blow to me just because I thought he was one of the highlight characters of Brawl given all the trickery he can do with explosives.
Well, losing a bet isn't important to me because Snake's gameplay is very important to me since it's unique and fun to play with. I'm pretty sure that it would be insulting for Kojima, Snake and Konami if they decided to copy and paste his moveset and slapped it on Advance Wars. Sakurai know that and I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't do it.

I thought your roster were great but I could live without few of your choices. Hopefully we would be please with Sakurai's roster.
I dunno about boycott, but I know plenty of dudes who don't play versions of fighting games because thair main didn't make it. They play a certain way and now they aren't interested or maybe they really like that character. I know a dude in particular who was a mewtwo fiend and that was one of his main reasons for not liking brawl. Its pretty common.
Would pay a month's wage for him.
As much as I would be devasted if the Dragon Slayer got cut, I'd still love SSB4 and wouldn't boycott it.
I'd ABSOLUTELY KILL SOME FOLKS though. Like straight up cannibalism.

I'm just hoping that a Vivosaur or two makes it in as an assist trophy.
I don't understand people's fascination with Pac-Man. I really don't think he'd fit the universe of Smash even with his former platforming games and the monstrosity that is Pac-Man in Street Fighter x Tekken.
I'd fine Mii perfectly acceptable if that was the customization Sakurai mentioned, but even then would the Mii be something that would fit Smash?
I'd find the Pushmo/Crashmo characters to be much more fitting, if not at the very least as assist trophies. Same with The Wonderful 101, Kamiya Hideki deserves to be recognized in some form and the universe in that game just screams Smash Bros.
As for Fire Emblem characters, I'd like to see Ike be replaced with Priam or add Anna/Tharja/Owain to the mix. Mewtwo as a transform character? Magnus and Palutena? Harmonknight? More Brain Age/Art Academy? Characters that haven't even made it to the West?
But regardless, what I'd love even more is for more unique characters to be added in terms of controls and whatnot much like Wii Fit Trainer. Retro characters please.

You know, assuming Impa gets the 5th Zelda spot and Dixie Kong gets the 3rd DK spot on this ideal list, I'd really be very excited for Smash 4's roster. I can only find small things* I'd do on top of this, but ideally this is the best roster.
*Chrom or Robin position changing to either a FE:A team-up character [Chrom and Lucina], Tharja or Anna who is like my new favorite potential FE newcomer & adding a rep/team-up character (Isa & Katchi from the most recent game) from Sin & Punishment as well as my pipe dream in Mike Jones from StarTropics as a surprise retro newcomer. Edit: Wonderful 101 in this one would be cool too if they bring the same 100 as 1 stylings in one "slot" on the roster.

Pretty much identical to mine... only I'm expecting Toon Zelda as the only possible new Zelda rep (I'd prefer Tingle but I believe that ship has sailed) and I feel like Shulk is a longshot.
That and cuts. But man, I have absolutely NO idea how cuts are going to go.

I mean, I played the game and I love her buuuuut what makes people think she's important enough to her game or series to be in Smash as an Awakening rep instead of Chrom, the avatar or Anna!

I honestly think he's picked up a lot of support between Brawl and now simply by being name dropped by Sakurai in the past as someone he'd love to do something with, "introduced" within the confines of NintendoLand and mentioned by Kamiya a few times. There's nothing definitive here but I'm sure more people find it easier to back him nowadays. Also helps that he could bring a style of play unrepresented thus far to the roster (iaijutsu/fast sword draws supplemented with ninja tools versus the more "knight" or "fencing" styles of swordsmen present in the series).
Edit: Eh, I just want some magic folk in Smash. Redo the wizards and princesses that use it while introducing some new ones. I'd love to see Ashley, Issac & Kamek but in my most modest roster choices, not one of those has a chance. I don't see Tharja making it anyway but it's nice to dream. Furthermore, Anna > Tharja currently.
