Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

I'd rather see a bit more of the stages we have only seen one screenshot of before we get a new one.

Or do people prefer only getting a glimmer of stages before the game's release so, even if we know of them, how they work and the full look will still be a surprise.

But on the flip side some of the stages we've seen quite a bit of are still full of mystery.
 
I'm expecting about a dozen more character reveals between now and release. So, depending on when you expect the game to be released:

Spring - 4-5 months left, 2-3 characters a month
Summer - 6-7 months left, 2 characters a month
Fall - 8-9 months left, 1-2 characters a month
Winter - 10-11 months left, 1 character a month
Next Year - 12+ months left, <1 character a month

I'm pretty optimistic, thinking early Fall isn't out of the question, so personally I'm expecting a character this week. A completely random reveal of, like... Ness, or Ice Climbers, or something. Maybe a Direct if we're lucky.

Not gonna lie, Cranky has been on my wishlist since the days of melee. I understand Dixie is above him on the pecking order as far as Kongs go, but Cranky is flipping between Kong slots 4 and 5 with K. Rool, so there is some hope.

Has any character been revealed thus far (outside of those revealed last E3) that didn't coincide with a game launching?

EDIT: Rosalina didn't have a coinciding game, but: 1) she is a newcomer and thus exempt from the game release-character reveal system, and 2) she was shown off as part of a Nintendo Direct, which is more of a special event in and of itself.
 
You know, as I think of it, if we end up getting a Direct in February, it's entirely possible we won't be getting Diddy but a newcomer announced for Tropical Freeze.

Rosalina didn't come out of nowhere , she was in Super Mario 3D World.Gave big hint that she had a chance to be in Smash 4.

Honestly, I think the early promo art "spoiler" of the Comet Observatory in Super Mario 3D World's general landscape was the first moment I thought "oh shit, it's happening". Rosalina getting promoted to playable though? That sealed the deal internally.
 
I've gone back to completing KI:Uprising again amidst all the Palutena hype. I'm probably only 1/3 of the way through the game but I'm having more fun with it than I did before, fusing weapons and stuff, and seeing the story unravel. Without drifting the conversation away from Smash Bros too much, I do wanna say the characters are hilarious and I love the banter and fourth wall breaking between Pit and Palutena. This game has so much personality, and I haven't got to Medusa yet, but I still think it'd be so amazing to see Palutena make it onto the roster and turn it out.

I'm trying not to think about the screenshots, because even though it does have a bit more credibility than your usual fakes, I don't want to hype it up, since we unfortunately won't get any closure on it until after launch. I do feel like Sora are going to be water tight this time around, especially if the fact cutscenes get uploaded to YouTube hit a nerve, and because of the leaks and slip-ups last time around, I would see Palutena as being an unlockable.

But, I would love to see Palutena in the game, since she is hilarious in Uprising, and she has a lot of potential for an interesting moveset.
 
I think anyone that plays/played Uprising has at least 3 people they want to see jumping into Smash with Palutena and Hades being the biggest of the bunch. Uprising seriously oozes personality and incarnations of characters inspired by the game could really be great stuff for the roster.

I adored the game, but for me, it was only Hades. He was the only major character who I thought had sufficient moveset material. Then, we may very well be getting Palutena.
 
I'm almost finished with Uprising, and I love the game, but I don't think Kid Icarus is big enough to warrant a third character. Palutena is definitely going to be playable, though. I'm actually surprised by how prominent she is in Uprising; the game's just as much about her as it is about Pit.

Surprised? The Japanese name of the franchise might as well be The Legend of Palutena.
 
I seriously would prefer Medusa over Hades, Magnus or anybody else, if only for the seniority of the character. She was the main villain in the first 2 Kid Icarus games, her Uprising design is baller, and she also got shafted really hard in that game
