Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Because things might slow down on the Smash site and I know how much everybody here loves /v/, here's this (probably fake, but whatever this shit is fun to talk about) thing:
7ORrdj8.jpg

Nothing too out there besides maybe revealing Sonic as early as this year, but we'll know if it's fake or not by next Tuesday. Plus playable Palutena would (help) me get over Ridley being a stage-hazard!

T minus 4 days until this is confirmed to be fake...tho palutena and dec 3 peach would be nice...

Assuming it's a hoax it takes some kind of balls to post a rumor/hoax that will be proven false in a week.

That "leak" is BS for countless reasons. Nintendo is notoriously secretive and guarded. If a leak happens, it's usually towards the end of development during QA. One would have to be very deeply involved with development to know those kinds of specifics at this point in time. It's unlikely that somebody so invested in the game would want to spoil it. Also, Skyward Sword Zelda? Haha.

It's pretty obvious that the guy's train of thought was "a new Metroid stage today? I'm going to start a rumor where a Metroid character gets announced a week from today! It'll make so much sense to everybody!"

I wonder how many people thought Ridley and Wolf were gonna be playable characters for Melee since they were in the introduction video and shown at E3 2001, you know, before we knew otherwise. Lol

Also, after watching the Brawl reveal again, and seeing the cheers for Snake, I really hope he comes back along with Sonic
and newcomer Bomberman!
. I love the Metal Gear series, and Snake (or Big Boss) really fit in with all of Nintendo's icons perfectly that it's really amazing. I never once thought he didn't fit in because he seems to just mesh with all of them.
Nintendo should buy the Metal Gear IP along with Kojima Productions. lol jk

I wonder same thing about Ridley and Wolf.

I love rumors that can be debunked fast

Yeah, 4 days and it's full of bs. It's too good to be real.

When are we going to see Miis/Pac-Man/Little Mac?

Soon, Soon.

Not-so-personal-theory; Pilotwings stage is a Mii-rep stage, Probably-a-Punch-Out!! stage is Mac's stage and Pac-Man is either going to be a TGS deal or shown off at E3 next year. Assuming that leak's accurate, but I don't see how you could remotely guess Wii Fit Trainer otherwise, along with getting the other two dead-on.

Yeah, I tried to emphasized that Pilotwings is more likely to be Mii-rep stage like many pages ago or other thread. I'm not sure but I hope that we are getting new trailers next month for Pre-TGS Direct but I seriously doubt it since we didn't get anything for last year.

Well, there was that guy who "guessed" Villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer several days before E3, but an E3 leak is far more likely than a random website one.

Pretty ballsy to make a hoax that would be proven false so quickly, but I'm going to go with fake because Skyward Sword Zelda wouldn't make sense for Smash Bros. Plus I don't think Palutena is a good pick.

I like Magnus as a character but I never got the appeal as him as Uprising's rep. Dude has very little to offer moveset wise and only shows up in three chapters out of a 25-chapter long game.
There should be an item that makes your character switch bodies into the girl, the dog, or Magnus all depending on a roulette.

Yeah, that was only days before, and it was just a list of names. This reads like masturbatory fan fiction.

R.O.B. the Robot.

And yet Sakurai made him work.

My philosophy is it doesn't matter what the character is, if the imagination is there any character can work. At the end of the day it's up to Sakurai. And I trust in his judgment in what character's are put in this iteration of Smash Bros.

And even so my post about Magnus is more a joke. I know for a fact many want Palutena and even Hades over Magnus.

Wasn't there a hoax thing about Smash 4 being called Super Smash Bros Catastrophe and that one of the new characters would be Tharja from Fire Emblem? And it was fake?

Yeah.

Yeah but like, even in the context of Uprising there's several more important, popular and moveset-viable characters than Magnus. I get that hypothetically anybody can be in Smash, but in this particular instance why do you want Magnus?

I'm just asking since other friends who never played Uprising normally just suggest him since the pre-release trailers made them think he was the second main character or something when in the final game he's pretty minor compared to everything going on.

:(

I agree SS Zelda makes no sense considering how Link's being handled, though I guess they could go for a weird system of having TP Link, SS Zelda, OoT Sheik and Ganondorf, WW... Uh, Toon Link, and so on?

I have never, not once, seen Manaphy. Never, in all my hundreds of hours of playing Brawl. Way too rare, especially for a Pokemon that actually does something (unlike Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi).

The "leak" just reeks of BS. Slightly less so than some others I've seen, but, no. Four days and we can forget it.

EDIT: That said, I wouldn't scoff at any one source really. There was a legitimate leak for Brawl on GameFaqs of all places.

Looks tailored for Smash IMO. And I simply just like him. I have no indepth reason for him.

If you wanted meaningful characters to stand for say Uprising you could give a couple reps that illustrate all 9 weapon classes.

ive seen it a couple times and was like wtf at what it did, at 1st it switched the control of the character completely but it didnt, so i figured it switched the percentage but never could confirm cause everytime it showed up i never really paid attention to the percentage at the time, well there was one time, but me and my opponent had the same exact percentage so it was lol-worthy

Honestly I think the leak blew all chance of credibility when it suggested Skyward Sword Zelda as a reveal.

Why have use her if you're gonna have Twlight Princess Link? It makes no sense.

Toon Link might be replaced by "Link Between Worlds" Link. Just a guess. Possibly offers new moveset material as well.

Just wild speculation at this point though.

Yeah, it really doesn't. Especially when Skyward Sword Link is so similar to Twilight Princess Link, so making the switch would have been pretty easy, but they consciously went with the older design.

I think that if there was going to be any significant representation for ALBW at all there would have been a stage for it in the 3DS version, but we've already seen two Zelda stages for that version and I highly doubt it will have more. I think it's too recent. The 3DS's first premier original Zelda title I would think would have higher stage priority than a remake and a DS game is my feeling on the matter.

ttruthfully smash link is more of a all-purpose link, he has elements of both SS and TP, though mostly TP. but neither of the facial features, infact he has a much sharper look than any of them, SS zelda is a fan favorite at the moment, shes up to be any type of zelda really, or a combination of all of them.

Well rather than have everyone switch characters with each other, I kind of want the item to only affect you.

In all my time with Brawl, I got Manaphy twice, and that was after I set items to only pokeballs.

I don't think there's any one thing of SSB4's Link that you can tie to SS Link's design outside of a brighter color scheme, which is most likely due to SSB4's brighter color scheme in general.

Well, this supposed Zamus reveal is also only a few days away, so he gave himself some sort of time-limit.

Besides her and the Palutena reveal part doesn't this line up with what most of us were guessing how the Smash site though? I know I kind of assumed at least Peach and Diddy would be shown off to coincide with their relevant games in November and December.

Truthfully has anyone gotten manaphy at lease once?

Darn thing is probably the rarest thing in the game but I did get one in a basic brawl.

I think, maybe once. Ridiculously rare, though. Maybe it's glitched somehow to have far worse chances of appearing than intended. Wouldn't be the first game that had an issue like that.

Edit: Can't even find where chances are listed for it. People have them for Mew, Jirachi, and Celebi, but not Manaphy.

one thing to take from SS link is that he was largely based off TP's model, outside his pants he's largely the same, cept more cartoony

the person's supposed leak wouldnt be that far off from what we would guess is a possibility, we havent always been right but we have been somewhat accurate in predicting what sakurai what show next, or relatively soon

SSB4 Link is basically the combination of TP Link along with SS Link's artstyle to an extent. For me it just mixes so well.

Sakurai made a comment that he was thinking about Smash when he designed the character IIRC

Hahaha, Manaphy once appeared in a match between me and my brother. It was memorable. My brother was playing Zelda, and was the one who threw the pokeball that had the Manaphy in it. However, he had just gotten his hands on a Smash Ball, so when Manaphy heart-swapped the two of us, I was the one playing Zelda, so I turned around and used my brother's own Light Arrow against him. He was a little angry at Manaphy, to say the least.

I really don't see it.
Any one aspect of his design is taken from Twilight Princess, from his boots to the stitching on his tunic. His belt is the TP Link's belt, he has a guard on his sword arm like TP Link. The Hylian Shield is TP's Hylian Shield. He uses the TP versions of the Bombs, Bow, and Clawshot.

Like I said before, the only thing I can attribute to SS is the color scheme, but that has more to do with SSB4's art style than any SS homage near as I can tell.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but I think it's an important distinction to make and is a big reason why I don't think we'll be seeing SS Zelda, at least, not as a default design.

Sakurai made a comment that he was thinking about Smash when he designed the character IIRC
I'm not so sure about that. I think it'd be pretty common knowledge around the web if Sakurai dropped a sort of-Smash hint like that.

The main thing I'm taking from this is, if fake, I'm impressed that he chose Rin Chitose of all artists.
I mean damn, there's obscure, and then there's obscure.

I would be so down with Skyward Sword Zelda. She's pretty much the best Zelda design in the series, let's be honest here.

I sincerely doubt that'll be the main Zelda costume, though, since Link is TP!Link. But it would also be neat if each Zelda character took a design from a different game (WW!Ganondorf, anyone?) so...

Skyward Sword Zelda is fantastic. Replacing Sheik with Impa would be even greater.

I'll probably continue lamenting that Link doesn't seem to follow SS Link at all.

There's a Rin Chitose listed in Uprising's credits so it's not *that* hard to quickly look up a random name for a made-up leak.

Honestly, the whole Link think wouldn't mean much if Sakurai was open to alts. I understand the hope for that is dead, but it's worth noting since this is a series that thrives on fan service.
