Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

His you're to slow taunt looks great though, Nike smile and all.

This I can definitely agree on.

Not that I don't mind the slight Classic Sonic influences, but I prefer the cocky grins as oppose to the derp smile (the former of which is seen in Sponge's post below).

Alright, important discussion time.

....what Sonic music are they gonna include this time? It would be sweet if that Windy Hill music from Lost World made it in, considering that's what seems to be his stage this time around. City Escape also needs to be in.

All I need are Live and Learn/City Escape and arrangements in the vein of Generations. Oh, and definitely Planet Wisp.

they're probably gonna include the sonic heroes theme though fuuuuuuuuck

Every Sonic render usually places his mouth on the side. Every Sonic model before Unleashed used to render his mouth on the front of his muzzle. This is most evident in Sonic Adventure 2 as well as Sonic Heroes.

During the development of Unleashed and the huge IGN blog they had where they'd post about the game development, the artists expressed a desire to move Sonic's mouth to the side of his muzzle to be more in line with his CGI renders. It was in due part as well to make in-game cutscenes look as inseparable as possible from the CGI cutscenes, and to make it look a bit more "cartoony".

The Sonic model in Brawl might have been partially provided by Sega since it looks similar to the Secret Rings models somewhat. I don't know if Sonic had any visible model featuring his mouth in that game though, but it might still have been based at a time when there wasn't a specific design-philosophy for where the mouth placement was.

Either way side-mouth = best imo. Sonic always looked like he had puffy cheeks whenever that front mouth was on display.

Planet wisp please.

If they're going to include vocal themes, then they need to be the full songs this time around. Also, for the love of god, give Sonic a better theme than Seven Rings in Hand.

Also, I guess the music selection might change if they choose songs based on stages, rather than based on which game that stage is from.

I kind of hope they do this so we don't have another "every cute Kirby song plays on the Halberd" situation.

At the rate that they've been announcing fighters, I wonder if the game is closer than we (I) think? Hoping for a late spring release now.

I know we haven't seen much of the stage yet, but aside from some curviness, it looked pretty plain overall, didn't it?

Not that I mind. The idea of a tourney-legal Sonic stage is enticing.

Pikmin 3 stage was in the clip too, by the way (probably mentioned already).

I really hope we don't lose the Brawl pikmin stage, it's one of my favorites.

The soundtrack is gonna be amazing.

They have a lot of good tracks to pull from like Colors, Generations and now Lost World.
Also, outside of Sonic, they've got all of Mega Man to pull from, Xenoblade, and (assuming Snake comes back) Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance...

More than just one remix, and something that isn't by Jun Senoue pls.

Bring Fumie Kumatani if you need a Sega/Sonic composer. She's boss.

I really dislike how they kept both spins. I understand they are different mechanically but the animations aren't easy to tell at a glance.

Yes, both spins were shown in the reveal trailer and it's a miracle I can tell but seriously either Sakurai is creatively bankrupt on the character or it's SEGA/Sonic Team's wishes. =\

Slighty off-topic:

Despite being a bit bummed by no 3DS footage today or more Sonic shots, after playing the AA5 demo which uses outlines similar to Smash, I have high hopes. The models in AA5 are rich and as colourful as hell, and the outlines make quite the impression. I'm pretty excited again for Smash.

The vast majority of it is terrible, but there are a few decent ones.
Bullshit. Series has pretty much consistently had the best overall soundtrack in the entire industry, spanning tons of genres and faltering only a few times.

Not as huge a fan of the vocal songs, admittedly, and Senoue's guitar-heavy music wore thin pretty quickly, but the other instrumentals are always top-notch.

Sonic confirmed, aw SNAPH MY BODY WAS NOT READY!!! D:

I guessed this is your first post. After a few months you will expect Nintendo to buy Apple, Microsoft and Sony on every Nintendo Direct. And of course a Ridley&Kraid reveal.
I'm starting to think that nintendo is going to buy disney today, is that normal?

But I hate Sonic music. It's so trashy.
But THIS SONG, I didn't liked ''Reach to the Stars'' at first but after hearing to this I even like the original version.

Also thanks to everyone for the warm welcome :D

Too bad there's no chance of that song, or almost any of the Sonic 3 songs besides the few that Jun Senoue wrote appearing in Smash.

Wasn't necessarily posting it for Smash's sake. It was mostly a response to saying most of Sonic's music is "trashy".

In between the Adventures and Sonic 06 was probably the weakest phase for the franchise musically. But even in that time period you can find gems. Besides that, pure gold. Say what you want about Sonic Unleashed but that game had an AMAZING soundtrack and everything that followed was pretty good. Sakurai has a lot to choose from this time. I hope he doesn't goof this time.

Angel Island Remix was nice, but he just chose some original Genesis pieces with some of the Rock Cheese Sonic tracks. Hope that isn't the case for this. Although I hope he includes City Escape just so I can sing along with all my friends and fam while playing lol.

It's not bullshit if it's an opinion!

But yes, some of the older music was great, back in Genesis territory, but modern Sonic music is ass, full stop for me.
