Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Fox's current design looks so fucking bad. It's a shame that sakurai feels that he has to use the newest character design for characters like Fox and Samus... Ugh.

SSB4 should have a 64 mode where all the characters revert to this sort of appearance. :3

i think i said this in the other thread but there needs to be a NES,SNES,N64 mode

it changes the look and appearances to that of those eras and only the characters that had games come out in those eras can be playable.

do it Sakurai B^)

It's strange but I actually don't mind how Fox looks in Smash Bros, but somehow his looks bothers me in Command despite that's where he's based off of... Maybe it's the art direction. I still prefer his 64 look though.

Needs braces?

needs less scary teeth!

Meh @ wanting any character out. Fuck principle.

Like it's not enough for you to have the characters you want in the game, you also need other people to not have theirs. WTF.

Yeah, I'm honestly not a fan of cutting out established characters. I think Snake should stay since he's already in a roster. If he wasn't in Brawl, I would be singing a different tune.

"Here's a close-up snapshot of Fox McCloud's Blaster. It can open up."

Fox is aging pretty bad. He's all veiny and has tree skin...

You realize that The Wonderful 101 is a Nintendo-owned IP. Nintendo owns all the rights to the series.

As for Bayonetta, Sonic already properly represents Sega. I wouldn't mind Bayonetta, but two Sega reps would be a bit much.

I know it is. All the more reason why they have more of a place there than Snake.

Sonic has a place, as Nintendo consoles are very much his second home, and he has had the exclusives there, too. He's already in very popular games with Mario, so he's accepted as a part of the Nintendo family by a lot of people in ways that other characters aren't. Apart from that, Sega are very committed to supporting those consoles.

Bayonetta should be there because of the Platinum Games partnership.
She makes an appearance in The Wonderful 101, too.
It is also in both of their interests to have her there. When Bayonetta 2 was revealed, it was part of the mission statement to bring her character to more audiences and help to further build on the brand name - A Smash Bros. appearance is surely a way of achieving that goal. I reject that it's over-representation.

Iwata asked Sakurai to direct the new Smash game and asked him what platform should it be put on, 3DS or Wii U. (I think) Sakurai said both. That's that.

I assume no-one bothered opening the article where Sakurai confirmed what I said then.

Right.

Now i'm on my 1080p monitor, I laughed at how bad Fox's arms look.

We already have a Sega character, and Bayonetta isn't even remotely iconic enough to be one of the game's four or five guests. She might crack the top 50.

Snake should DEFINITELY get the cut because he has no business there. ESPECIALLY when Kojima makes excuse after excuse not to bring his games to Nintendo consoles. Oh, and we're still waiting on that 'unique game which makes a special use of the GamePad". When he commits to supporting them, then PERHAPS and ONLY THEN should Nintendo start considering him as additional content. But until then, Snake and Kojima's wishes can fuck right off. It ought to be a point of principle. We have, at least, seen Mega Man entries on the DS - entries which weren't bad port jobs released next to collections elsewhere.

Would rather sign that petition to put Reggie in the game, in his place (I haven't signed it), but truthfully, his spot should go to a team that would appreciate it. Truthfully, Snake should be cut and replaced with Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101 characters - By playing as them in a popular game, it could help or encourage people to buy those games, and I feel that this would be more in their interests.
Silly, childish, and self-centered.

Snake should stay because he's a fun character, people like playing as him, he expands Smash's audience beyond Nintendo fans, and the universe he brings along with him brings a lot of good fun and a nice contrast to the rest of the game.

To want him out because Kojima hasn't done anything for Nintendo lately is vitriolic fan nonsense.

snake should go simply because Simon Belmont is far more deserving of his spot. Hell, Goemon is more deserving of his spot.

Frankly, I'm just glad Sakurai is nowhere near as fickle, vindictive or vitriolic as this post is. He's probably thinking more like "Snake was in Brawl; people will miss him if he's cut; let's keep him in", and not thinking "Konami screwed us over, so I'm cutting Snake out of spite". That kind of bridge-burning gets nobody anywhere.

Silly, childish, and self-centered.

You and others welcome to disagree. I don't see that it's fickle, vindictive, vitriolic, silly, childish or self-centred and some might say that the bridge-burning started on the other side, when excuses were made not to bring games to their console. You might call all of those things, but there's another phrase which goes around about it being "just business", and with games confirmed from other parties, I suggested that it was in their interests. Still, I wrote that when they start supporting it, then he can be considered as extra content, so I didn't rule out the possibility in future - There's a big difference. So, no, the bridge in question isn't burning from my end, because I expressed that I was open to that. Clearly, putting Snake in Brawl did a lot for those relations - Oh, wait... As mentioned, everybody is welcome to disagree, but it is my opinion that other characters are more deserving of his spot. Of course, all of this applies IF there aren't many more spots up for grabs than the Brawl entry, but if something has to give, then for me, it's Snake.

I hope we get this thread to the post limit soon. I just don't understand the thread title at all, and my brain won't let it stop bothering me. How far away are we?

Think about it like this, we've had toon link, sonic, wii fit trainer, and mega man all confirmed before yoshi... What reason is there to hold back on the announcement of such an iconic character?

And talk about characters not fitting in, Bayonetta would be more incongruous than Snake. Sexy character that uses guns and has moves that show skin doesn't really seem up Sakurai's alley for Smash.

Exactly. I may not like Wolf, but like hell do I want to see him go. Some people're being downright spiteful.

But everyone is understandable. Mega Man being the new Third-Party character. Same with Sonic as well, he'd have to get shown earlier. Wii Fit Trainer is a new character.

Toon Link, well that was just for his WWHD release. But yeeah. I'm sure Yoshi will eventually be revealed, whether it'd be one of the random ones or for specfic date.

That would require an unreal amount of work, especially if you were working with NES and SNES sprites. Stick to Super Smash Flash if you want that kind of thing.

Fox really needs to fix his teeth and have his arm checked.

They're having a hard time deciding whether or not to give him back his 56% hit, shield breaking flutter kick.

I maimed Snake in Brawl, so I don't want to see him cut. I'm getting the impression that he's on the chopping block, though. Maybe the thread is just getting to me.

I hope that Wolf stays too; loved playing as him, and we need more antagonistic characters in Smash.

I don't think I've ever seen Battlefield look like that. I get they're going for some kind of sunset->night transition, but I don't think it's a convincing 'shop.

The last smash fake I saw that generally impressed me was a bomberman one on a site that deliberately was making fake brawl updates. It was so good I remember it being reported as real lol

I think it'll be Pokemon Trainer on friday. He's an "easy" reveal (it's pretty obvious he's returning), and is actually three characters in one.

He also lends himself to lots of screenshots, so it'll give them material for awhile.
