Likewise, I didn't know who Samus was...thought it was just a robot, not someone in a suit till I read the character bio.

I thought Ness was an original character and was meant to be basically a kid who played Nintendo, hence "Ness".

I had played F-Zero SNES as a kid, so I recognized the game Captain Falcon was from, but I never actually saw who drove the vehicle since I didn't have the game box or manual, so I didn't recognize him either.

Everyone else I knew to a fair extent.

With Melee it was Ice Climbers I had no clue about, and the Fire Emblem dudes. I recognized GW from the Game and Watch Gallery games.

No one in Brawl surprised me as someone I didn't know, although honestly I never played Kid Icarus. I don't imagine with the Internet now and such, that any Smash 4 character will be someone I don't recognize.

I didn't know a lot of the franchises in Smash 64 when I first saw it. I was always hooked on Mario. I knew Kirby, DK, Pokemon. I didn't even know who Link was at the time.

Well after I got smash 64 I bought a lot of the titles I missed out on.

I wouldn't call her a tomboy (almost anybody compared to March is a tomboy ), but her style probably came from the beast that is Chrom

Looking at the Smash 3DS gifs, the physics look more Brawl-like than the Wii U version.

Not knocking it at all, just what it looks like to me. I liked Brawl, and am getting both versions here.
