If they can release a Mario Kart 8 bundle, a $300 Smash bundle is a safe bet.

No it's not.

Super Smash Bros will be their main source of revenue for the Wii U platform for Q3. If anything, expect one after the holiday season as their holiday bundles have already been announced Super Mario 3D World & Mario Kart 8 bundle.

This points towards a 2014 release. I'm surprised, I thought it would slip to early 2015.

How would Amiibo launch this yr without Smash Bros. Wii U available? The game is coming this yr without question. Nintendo has stated Holiday 2014 so many times for the game it is ridiculous. There has never been a single hint at a 2015 delay.

November 18 makes the most sense, but I don't see why they'd be waiting so long to announce the date if they're not scrambling to try and get the game out this year. I could see December 5 happening, but I'd love to be wrong.

Holiday 2014

They won't miss this holiday. If they do, that means a big loss in sales of their entire new line of toys. Nevermind people that would then skip buying Wii U's. For people like us it's not a big thing to buy it after the holidays, but for the kids these things are partially aimed at, that's a problem.

Nintendo might screw up and miss Black Friday if the game is rushed... but since the 3DS version is done, I think they're mainly picking their moment at this point.

They would want to get as many people as possible to buy Smash which is another door to Amiibo sales.

There's no Amiibo function for Smash 3DS this year so they have to move Wii Us (which Mario Kart did not do too well at).

An enticing bundle or another way to increase Wii U appeal is going to be needed.

Who the fuck keeps thinking its coming out in 2015? There hasn't been anything to hint at anything like that.

Anyways i hope November. Save Toad for December.

November with Amiibo of course.

They wouldn't announce a delay during an 8 hour holiday game stream. They would put out a press release and hide.

Except MK8 did drive Wii U sales. Maybe it didn't push Wii U sales insanely high, but it did help move units in May, June, July, and we'll soon see for August.

They also said that Smash 3DS was coming in Summer.
It is in Japan. They explained the small delay. If Smash Bros. Wii U was to be delayed we would have heard about it by now. It is 2014.

They didn't have an entire toy line that would live or die depending on the success of Smash 3DS.
Yep. And there also isn't a significant, huge holiday sales season the miss out on, doesn't matter if it's anytime from June-October.

Amazing that so many here seem to think that this game won't hit till 2015. You guys do realize that this is most likely the only game for the next year that has any real possibility of keeping the system afloat right? If they miss holidays and all the potential system sales of people buying smash then they may as well not even care anymore.

The Launch Schedule from the First Quarter Earnings Release of FY 2014 has it at Winter 2014 for Japan and EU (Holiday 2014 for US for whatever reason):

I'll be happy with a December Release date. Just in time for Christmas!

Won't be surprised if it's December in EU. NoA need to get Smash in stores before Black Friday. EU doesn't really have an equivalent so they could afford a December launch.

Although both regions on the same day is preferable.

Will probably be their Black Friday game like 3D World last year. They'd probably cut corners before delaying it into 2015

I'm sure it will be out in 2014 but I just hope it arrives with the level of polish we've come to expect out of the franchise. Brawl and Smash Bros. 3DS were both delayed but Nintendo could absorb those delays because the Wii and 3DS were both selling well. There is no doubt in my mind that Smash Bros. Wii U would've been delayed to 2015 a while ago if the Wii U didn't absolutely need it to survive.

Nintendo will not, I repeat, offer a Super Smash Wii U bundle at an MSRP of 299.99$ as many are claiming.

The bundles for the Holiday season have already been announced via Nintendo's PR:

- Walmart Exclusive Mario Kart 8 bundle 299.99$
- Super Mario 3D World bundle 299.99$

Nintendo does not profit in any way by having a Super Smash Bros Wii U bundle.
