In fact, it looks more like the recent Spider-Man games than anything else, with quite a lot of ambition for a team that hasn't made an action game before. Plus, it's one of the new round of EA titles to lead development on Xbox 360, with the current gen and portable versions taking a back seat (are you listening, Activision?).

In some ways, the game even sounds overly ambitious. One of the examples given of how players could hypothetically combine two of their powers to solve a puzzle involves using freeze vision to freeze the water in a lake, picking up the iced lake, carrying it to a fire, and then using heat vision to melt it over the fire. Sounds awesome -- let's just hope there are numerous examples like this so players don't get locked into doing the same thing over and over again like they've had to do in recent Spider-Man games.

But we've heard all this before. No, not word for word -- but there have been Superman games in the past that have sounded peachy pre-release and turned out to be disasters when they shipped to stores. So why will this one be different? Well, for one thing, Tiburon is a company accustomed to hitting tight deadlines. Being forced to release annual iterations of many sports titles has forced the company into a rigid schedule when it comes to deadlines, which should help Superman avoid some of the bugs and the sense of incompleteness that has been seen in previous titles.

While we think it'll be a tough sell convincing many gamers that Superman is back before EA is ready to show screens and video footage from the game online -- given the notoriously terrible legacy of Superman games from other publishers -- the company seems to be saying all the right things so far, and the little we've seen of the game leaves us hoping this could be one of the surprise hits of 2006.

360 is hell of lucky they came to market in time to be a viable platform for a tie in to this movie, which will be ginormous. The fact that it might actually be a great game is just frosting. It will sell tons regardless.

If catwoman, or batman begins are any indication, I won't hold my breath for this one.

If Spider-Man is any indication, it will sell regardless. Comparing this movie tie in to those movie tie ins is pretty pointless, as it will make double what they did (possibly combined) on its opening weekend.

You would have a point, if its wasnt for the fact that Catwoman/Batman and Superman were made by completely different developers...oh wait, its published by EA! We all know they only have 1 dev team.

:lol :lol

thanks for the laugh, but I don't think they'll ever be a good DCU or Super Man game for that matter. Its sad actually, because DC's lineup makes crossover for games, but there haven't been a great one to date.

Using Metropolis as the health meter is the only thing that gives me hope. However, I fully prepare to be let down once again.

Hopefully it beats the last superman game....

The last time any one looked up to you, Evil Solrac, was when you were DEAD.

EDIT: Just caught your avatar, too. My friend and I were just talking about that. Too bad you can't have it with the Sound Effects behind it, as that was the best part.
