Amazing how something with a bigger/better screen and just as, if not MORE, powerful is in a much sleeker and smaller design/form factor.

Nintendo engineers have truly outdone themselves with Switch 2.

One is using mobile hardware, the other uses desktop architecture. The size/cooling has less to do with Nintendo/Valve and more to due with Nvidia/AMD's chips.

Both are using mobile hardware 🙄… Steam deck doesn't use any desktop parts and if you are talking ARM vs ZEN, the Steamdeck uses the Mobile version of the AMD cpu. Design wise the NS2 is another league.

It's still a chip designed around x86-64 architecture. It's not like Valve can hire the best engineers and make the Steam Deck much smaller, stronger and cooler. The difference is solely due to Nvidias chip than any expert device design.

impressive, very nice .

Although I think the switch 1 size is perfect , just make the screen as big as possible while keeping the same size.

They both look great.

I love the screen on my OLED Steam Deck. Switch 2 with OLED would look stunning.

A lot of the size of Deck in the controls. They are way more comfortable and versatile than a Switch OLED, for instance. Hopefully the Switch 2 will be better, but I'm not holding my breath. Expecting to have to pay for another cradle to avoid carpal tunnel.

This is a size comparison using Switch controls that won't give you AIDS.

Better screen… it depends on what you value. OLED for me puts it a notch ahead, but the sleeker and much smaller form factor. The size is similar, but Steam Deck needs to support far more legacy PC games that were not designed for joypads… it has two large touchpads, a proper DPad, four back buttons, and proper analog triggers on top of being a quite ergonomical design.

I've said it before: The switch 2 is a sleek motherfucker.

I'm a big believer in handheld PC gaming. Trying the Switch 2 felt like having the same power in the same form factor of the original switch.

Valve and the others should really try to do something similar in the future, but their approach to this kind of devices needs to be different.

The screen of the switch 2 is actually so good that I wonder if just upgrading to an OLED will be worth it.

They will definitely have a mid generation refresh, but this time, I don't think that simply switching to OLED will be enough.

The Steam Deck is larger because of several reasons, larger battery, more control options (two touch pads, four back buttons), using an actual Nvme, and more powerful hardware (for mobile usage). The actual weight difference between the two is only about ~100 grams. What you would find more comfortable to hold depends on person to person I suppose, I find the Steam Deck to be much better to hold vs the Switch Oled, but the Switch 2 does appear to be a bit more ergonomic. The nice advantage of the Switch 1/2 is the ability to swap out Joy-Cons, I have a Hori Split Pad Pro for my Switch Oled which makes a remarkable difference.

The 'screen-to-controller' ratio on SW 2 is amazing, i give that. Unfortunately, that probably means Joycon 2 will continue to be a pain in the (my) hands

I like my Steam Deck OLED but I don't use it very often because it's just too heavy for me to be comfortable. 630g is definitely too much for a handheld and I'm kinda relieved to know that S2 will be 96g lighter. Doesn't sound like much, but it could mean the difference between getting numb hands or plqying for hours on end (or at leqst jntil the battery runs out).

That's all part of the design of the console, you are proving my point…. Also, yes Valve can hire top notch engineers.

Honestly they both just make me miss the n3DSXL and the Vita. I miss being able to put these in my pocket and go.

That said Switch 2 definitely more sleek than Steam Deck
