Sales at launch are front loaded so the first month comparison is fair.Just a question: are we comparing the same amount of days or something like that? And no, this is not flame war posting, i have a NS2.

I am starting to think that the Switch 2 could reach 6 million Jun+Jul… Impressive. This is just the beginning

That's the lesson. And Nintendo still has bangers to drop. DKB was only the start.Software still the factor that move people to hardware.
Honest question: could Switch 1 or PS5 have done this if they had enough supply to meet demand?
Not saying it's not impressive, but I'm curious whether this is a case of "unprecedented demand" vs "finally a hardware launch without severe under-supply + scalping"
Just wait till the holiday. Holiday lineup hasn't been announced yet. We are just starting to see 3rd parties in phase 2 launch in october with BL4. Phase 3 incoming for holiday 2025. Dont' forget pokemon bundle.Impressive, but early sales for big consoles like this isn't supply vs demand. It is only supply.
Credit to Nintendo for the large supply though. Much better than the people who spent over a full year trying to track down an unsold PS5.
Do they have enough supply to reach that? These launch periods are hard to gauge due to so many variables.p

The demand is high because the supply was low
Yup the real test is when the launch hype fades. All consoles can sell 1.6 million. What this really means is that their launch was the best prepared with the most available.
COVID was a magical event, I made everyone sell less while making everyone sell more at the same time, depending on which argument you want to provide on the interwebs<Insert PS5 would have sold ten billion units in one hour were it not for covid shortages excuse here>

Strange. I heard they were in stock everywhere.![]()
Crazy numbers. Switch 2 poised to dominate the industry for the foreseeable future. I haven't got a hold of one yet, need to get on it ASAP
Brain gymnastics in full forceI love all the "Well I think any console could sell this number if they had stock"
It might be true but it takes a SHIT load of money and brains to organise this kind of roll out, the pressure to sign off on this much stock to manufacture would be enough to put most people in an early grave. A move like this takes balls of steel and confidence in your product on a whole other level.
Impressive but we shall see if it will have the legs.![]()
And outside of the holiday season.Dang, 500k over the previous record. Not even close
From the same company that gave us Mario Galaxy 1 but not Mario Galaxy 2 on the Switch?I'm surprised we didn't get Prime 2 and 3 remaster before 4, would be a good buildup to release them in september and bam, Prime 4 november.
And probably one the weakest month of the year…And outside of the holiday season.
Galaxy 2 can't be done on Switch. It's too pointer heavy, the gyro isn't good enough. From the same company that gave us Mario Galaxy 1 but not Mario Galaxy 2 on the Switch?
I'm not surprised at all.
And probably one the weakest month of the year…
Rumours are Nintendo has decided to go all in on live service games, they bought Concord to relaunch it.Impressive but we shall see if it will have the legs.![]()
Don't forget every rage bait youtuber.I found it funny how GAF thought this worst thing ever created and thry pretty sure themselves it would fail.
I guess GAF was wrong once again.
I still very vividly remember the very same thing for switch 1. It was hilarious then, it's still hilarious now.I found it funny how GAF thought this worst thing ever created and thry pretty sure themselves it would fail.

That's my point, GAF has becoming YouTuber. They need to immediately react and make click bait threads.Don't forget every rage bait youtuber.
They never learn.I still very vividly remember the very same thing for switch 1. It was hilarious then, it's still hilarious now.

Ngl, smashing shit up in DKB feels really good. I've spent hours just punching shit. That's the lesson. And Nintendo still has bangers to drop. DKB was only the start.

If sales don't fall off a cliff soon enough, we will be finding goalposts in places where they shouldn't even be.
Not trying to diminish the achievement, just curious. Switch and PS5 were both very hard to find for months whereas Switch 2 is readily available online and in stores. I always wondered how those systems would've sold if they had enough supply to meet demand. Heck even original Wii was barely ever in stock for like 2 years.Switch 1 release was pre-COVID so launch numbers are at least comparable.
To have Switch 2 surpass the PS4 from 2013 is imo already enough of a benchmark without dragging "what if" covid era consoles into the mix. Because the production issues caused by covid as a reason why it couldn't reach sales also brings another question, would there have been even that much demand if covid had not been there, in a time where peoples went all in on in-house entertainment? We'll never know.
