Switch 2 Teardown

Love this kind of content! I'm excited to see the faceplate kits for the controller, the fact they are adhesive only is a little annoying but should mean they are extremely cheap to buy. Atomic purple pls!

It's nice to see how incredibly good the build quality of the pro controller is, but good lord that looks like a NIGHTMARE to disassemble. That's a shame, cause I like tinkering with the internals of my controllers for fun, and this one looks like more of a nightmare than the Elite 2.

Still, the pro controller 2 is such a wildly good controller. It's easily the nicest controller I've ever used, as long as you don't need analog triggers. It beats out the Elite 2, DualSense Edge, and 8bitdo Ultimate Pro 2. (Though if the Elite 2 didn't have such a ridiculously high failure rate, I might barely put that in the number 1 spot. Sadly, I've already gone through four Elite 2 controllers, and I'm done buying them.)

Not many people are talking about how good the haptics are in the Pro Controller 2, either. They're now on par with the haptics of the DualSense, with the benefit that Nintendo games tend to take better advantage of haptics than a vast majority of PS5 games, so you actually get some nice feedback.

On one hand, it feels like a Nintendo controller being priced at $85 is just too much. But on the other hand, it's nicer than $200 controllers I've purchased multiple times, so I guess it's not too bad.

In any case, I'm super happy with the pro controller 2 so far.

IKR?
Also the D-Pad is probably the best I ever tried.

It's absolutely moronic that the dock doesn't have a USB-C outlet and all peripherals have to be plugged in and out of the Switch 2 itself every time.

I found that you can just use a standard USB-C to USB-A to connect things like the camera to the dock and keep them connected.

I'm already using a USB-C to A dongle that I can connect a USB-A cable to (using an old USB-A webcam). But I guess I can, in turn, connect the USB-C to A dongle to a USB-A to C dongle that I can then connect to the dock in that case..

But that's such a stupid way to solve this.

Yeah, I completely agree. No idea why they didn't just add one extra C port.

Nintendo gonna Nintendo 🙄
