Absolutely. Retro has literally never missed. Yes, it's been a long time since their last game, and they probably don't have a lot of the same people, but they can do no wrong until proven otherwise.

YES, dude, who doesn't love Metroid Prime. It's like the best puzzle game mixed with a solid fun unique fps. It's really good. It's been way too long since we got an entry. I can't understand anyone being mad we are getting this. I feel the disappointment of no Mario but that doesn't take away from a new AAA Metroid Prime or Donkey Kong.

I'll be honest - my initial reaction when they first re-revealed this game with actual footage was like, "oh that's it? What's the new thing?" and then they showed the psychic powers and still I was like, "I hope that's not the new thing".

Now that they've showed the motorcycle open area stuff I'm really not into it. It just doesn't look good but I'm happy to be proven wrong - Retro has never released anything less than a great game.

I'm going to buy it on Switch 1 at some point in the future. The motorcycle made me a little worried. I am afraid it will loose the feeling of interconnectedness that 3 also had by having multiple planets.

The first one was groundbreaking, the second was good but the third... not so great. With this one i will ask a friend for his Switch to play it

I'm interested because it's Metroid Prime and it's Retro Studios.
But most of the trailers have been pretty bland. Everything they've tried to present as some exciting new mechanic, like opening doors with psychic abilities or traversing empty looking levels with a motorcycle, hasn't really excited me

I'm assuming (or at least hoping) the strength of the game lies in things that aren't easy to showcase in a trailer, like really good level design and exploration.

Super Metroid was my only experience of Metroid games until last Christmas when I blind purchased Metroid Prime Remastered. It was one of the most incredible games I've ever played, an instant all time top 10. I'm buying a Switch 2 when 4 comes out.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 Primes but even way back then I felt the action in the game was too slow. I remember back in the Planet Gamecube days one of the reviewers commented that Samus felt like a tank and that always stuck with me. Despite its glaring flaws I enjoyed Other M more because the action was so exciting. The Prime games had better controls, art direction, voice acting and story but in Other M, Samus just felt more fun to toy with. That was more fun to toy with despite that mandatory stupid sideways Wiimote.

With Link, Mario or Donkey Kong I feel like I have a ton of control to make a satisfying spectacle out of my own actions. No major set pieces or story beats are needed, they are welcome of course, but the "mundane" actions with these characters are very satisfying in a way that 1st person Samus has not been. Or rather it's not that 1st person Samus is not satisfying to control, it is, just not as satisfying to control as Mario, DK, or Link.

In the Prime games I love the feel of the grapple beam, wall jump, spider ball and boost ball. Unfortunately they are mostly context sensitive. I loved that in Prime 3 the grapple beam was used to snatch shields from enemies and thank goodness that is back. I was always a little lame to me that the grapple beam couldn't be used to latch onto almost any surface. I wouldn't mind the use of a 1st person Hook Shot or 1st person Web Swinging at my leisure. It's just more movement options that would almost certainly speed things up during combat and traversal. I don't know how much it would break the game either since we were allowed the Screw Attack at any moment we chose.

Now with all that said, I am looking forward to this game as Retro's track record is spotless. I'm not hyped yet but the overall packaged of the Prime games has always been a worthy purchase.

It interests me, but just being interested is a low bar. I could see this being one of the best entries in the series, an abomination or anything in between.

Sure yes! But the moto section looks gimmicky and doesn't seem to bring much to the experience. Big and empty overworld is not what I'm craving for when thinking of metroid.

Metroid is dooomed

I played the demo at gamescom, it played really good and i had a Prime feeling immediately but tbh this bike sequence of the last Direct made me feel very very sceptical about this game.
This and i don't liked the look of her armor.

Yes, I like Metroids, and I like the Prime subseries so I will play this. I don't mind the shit trailers as it means more things for me to discover.

I am annoyed that 2 and 3 weren't re-released before this though.

I don't own a Switch 2, nor do I feel compelled to buy one. Having said that Metroid Prime 1 is in my top 3 games of all time and I hope the fourth game lives up to it. Maybe down the line if enough Nintendo first party games I'm interested in get released and announced, I'll buy a Switch 2. If that ever happens Prime 4 would be the first game I'd buy.

I'm a Metroid fan. I'll buy it and enjoy it.

But I can't help being disappointed that the next ambitious Metroid game is, again, another Prime game with little innovation. We had 3 of these and felt it was already enough. (Not even counting Federation Force…).

Yes im buying
Im always sort of hit or miss with the Metroid franchise. Mostly hit- despite never actually finishing one. lol

Kinda. There's no Metroid game that grabbed me, but I'd feel like I'm missing out, if I won't get it. It's, probably, the last big release for the console.

Ok, now that Metroid prime 4 is about to be released, I'm wondering how many are actually waiting for it.

There are 150 millions switch's out there, but for people that never played Metroid prime before, is there any reason to get this game? And for those who had, do you expect the game can offer something better than the originals?
The better question is, where are 2 and 3, but yes I'm looking forward to 4.

You're asking Nintendo fans if they are interested in Metroid?
Judging by the responses here, and we are pretty much hardcore gamers, I am not seeing a very positive sales output for this game so far.

doesn't help that its going to be released on the original Switch as well, and that system is hacked, even a grandma knows how to pirate the game sadly.

if the game was a Switch 2 exclusive, I can see it having probably a more hype / no choice but not to buy it if you wanna play it. Since it is going to be released on the original Switch, you will find some sites have the game with the emulator ready to be played at 4k high fps high texture probably before the game's release date by a day or two even lol.

Not a good outlook to be honest.

I'll get it, Metroid is my favorite series but I have to say I'm not particularly excited though. Maybe cause of how long it's been, without trying it yet I will say I'm not a fan of the bike at all and immediately makes me think of lots of traveling to get around. Might as well had Link pop up as a taxi with a sidecar for his bike, would of been funny at least

I'll probably get some hate for this but...

Metroid Prime was always sort of mid (really the entire series) and super overrated. The last trailer for MP4 looks like shit to me with a dumbass motorcycle to traverse a ugly barren world.

The motorcycle part looks bad and isn't a good addition, yeah, but the trilogy isn't mid at all , especially considering the time it was released. It's a 20-year-old trilogy that still holds up really well, and it plays incredibly smoothly. It's fun to play and still great to look at. This series is nothing short of an absolute classic!

Not gonna lie, that motorcycle really turned off some of my hype, but it looks good enough to make me buy the game later down the road.
