mine are all fine(192) except for BYOB for some reason...but I have a version of BYOB at VBR ripped from a promo CD, so it's not even an issue.

well just looking at the lyrics are misleading. a lot of that is an electronic voice in the background. it's a very strange song even for them, and that is saying a LOT.


also, those that know where to go....there is a new torrent up.

"Ok as I said I would do, this release contains the promo version of BYOB and normalized audio so the volume doesn't keep going up and down with each different track..."

For the record, BYOB is probably the worst song I've heard on the radio in years (not that I listen to it a whole lot) and I definitely enjoyed their singles from the past album.

im listening to it, the album is ok but it will take some time for me to truly like it.


my problem with system of a down is i used to work @ a record store on sunset and daron would always come into the store, and he was a little bitch. not only was he always high as a kite, always with a new chick (read: hooker), but it was strange seeing this sickly little dude and say to yourself "is this dude a guitarist for a big time metal band or a star trek nerd?". just kind of ruined the illusion of the band for me somehow i guess. not saying i dislike them now but i like my rockers to be larger than life

Incredible record. A bit on the short side, but an absolute blast to listen to. Daron's genius knows no limits, the dude knows how to write an album. Fucking awesome.

I'm loving this album. Right now Violent Pornagraphy is my favorite track followed by Lost in Hollywood. That could change once I get a better listen of the album though.

It's not just you. SOAD is the one band I don't get sick of. I just can't. I've been a fan for just over 5 years now (basically ever since the self-titled debuted) and I listen to them at least once every week. They are easily my most listened to band.

i've never met the guy, but he always reminded me of an armenian Lars Ulrich.

I kinda didn't like it upon first listening through it. But it's growing on me very fast, definitely an awesome album, I'm listening to it nonstop since 3 hours :lol

agreed. That song has been in my head since last nite. I'm really really loving this album. Listening to it now at work :D

They're one of the few bands I've never really gotten tired of. I generally don't listen to much heavy music these days, but they're an exception. I remember buying the first record, which still rules - it was the same day that Banjo-Kazooie came out. What a badass day.

Oh. Hell. No. Lars is an egotistical piece of shit, who thinks people actually give a damn about his role in Metallica. Daron is a lot cooler, laid back, ten times the pimp and ten times the song writer that Lars is. Fuck Lars.

yes. that, statue, question, and radio/video are my favorites. but old school is far and away is the best song on the cd for me.

now we have to wait a few more months for Hypnotzie :(

SO is the sound quality good? The only things I've been able to find are being discussed as being of poor quality. I really want to check it out, but not if its some 96kbps shit.

it's 192k.
it's good quality. good for a leak.
only problem i can see is that it sounds like it was ripped off the radio, but yeah, decent quality. 7/10

the one I downloaded was VBR and between 220 and 320 kbit. It wasn't normalized though, quality is good. I normalized and recompressed it to 192kbit CBR.

I will buy the CD once it's out, so I don't care if the quality of the rip is perfect...

The leak I downloaded had a broken copy of BYOB, but that didn't matter to me because I had a perfect 192 rip of the explicit version. In addition, my copy wasn't very loud, but a quick amplification adjustment in Cool Edit Pro solved everything (set it to 11Db for the correct volume).

Everything's pretty much perfect, but for some damn reason CIGARO (both from the leak and the original leak from January) refuse to burn properly. The audio is all screwed up with horrendous cracking.

Wow, I think Old School Hollywood may be SOAD's best song ever. That riff is incredible. I already learned the entire record on guitar too. Hahaha, goes to show how much I've listened to this record. SOAD = <3 <3 <3

I was at a party of a friend of theirs in Glendale, and saw Daron playing Forza, saying something about how much he liked it moreso than GT4.

I saw the BYOB video the other day and couldn't help but wonder how people manage to listen to this type of music regularly. It's not awful, but geez, what a headache.

yeah there are parts of some systems songs that are just a damn headache or take the right mood to listen to, but on the whole they have a lot of melodic songs and do "sing" from time to time ;)

I have both the 320 and 192, and i can't tell the difference.

It's funny that the entire album is in Db, too. 90% of SOAD's songs were in Drop-C.
