Taking another stab at RE4

I like to use the stick and move strat for swarms - the villagers can't run as fast as you, so get off a couple of shots then move to a new position. If you try and stand in one place and hold them all off they will eventualy overwhelm you when you are reloading. This goes double for the 'mercenaries' mini game after you beat the main game. Imagine the 1st village with 2 chainsaw chicks, and 2x the villagers all on your ass. Run and gun, run and gun :D
Yeah, but I keep missing a shotgun shot and getting my head chopped off in Mercinaries. No way in hell I'm gonna unlock the handcannon :lol

I do want to unlock all the Mercinary characters though.

the chainsaw chicks seem to go faster with handgun headshots then the shotgun - all the shotgun does is knock them down and piss them off :D

EDIT: another good idea (in mercinaries) is to get the chainsaw chicks running after you then run them by one of the exploding barrels. Shot barrel and have a laugh :D

One quick question:
is the monsters sprouting from the zombie heads pretty random? At first I thought if I avoided shooting them in the head I'd be able to kill them normally. But I've shot some guys in the foot and they still sprout'

At one point my brother was fucking about having just saved (so he could waste stuff and not save after it) and threw a grenade close to a door. He kept messing about, only for us to her the door slam open and a fuicking chainsaw guy came into a save room! I didn't even know that was possible.

Guess we pissed him off.

I think it's random. If you want to know how to deal with them easily
flash grenades'll do it.

RE4 is absolutely one of the most thrilling, engrossing games I have ever played. My friends always knew what I was up to during the 3-week span over which I completed RE4, and I was constantly in anticipation of being able to play the damn game while sitting through class. Hell, Mercenaries alone is more polished and fleshed out than some full-priced releases.

Resident Evil 5 is going to be amazing. :)

I only tried the first one. Are there chainsaw people in all 4 stages? Cause if they are, I ain't playing it :lol

I've only played the first two stages so far, and
there were no chainsaw enemies to be found in the second one (the castle). Instead, they drop in one of those crazy blind guys with the huge claws near the end, which isn't much better

any word on what system RE5 is headed to? I pretty much bought a cube because Makami said he was going to chop off his head before he put it on another system (still waiting for that btw :lol )

Some of a bitch. And I'm sure those
mini-gun dudes
are in the last stage. I know most of you guys say the game isn't that scary, but these one hit kill fuckers scare me so fucking much :lol

I'm on level 5-2
right after the Ashley Bulldozer driving section
and I'm still feeling tense every time I start playing this game (in a good way). I absolutely suck at avoiding long distance hits. The only thing that's saved me is hoarding all the R+Y+G herbs that seem to be generously distributed in this area. I was hoping that the
Tactical Vest
would bail me out a little more but I guess I just need to develop a better technique.

BTW Anybody else get a heavy Jacob's Ladder vibe from the Iron Maidens? Yeesh.

I recently beat the game so I know what you're going through. The tactical vest IS a lifesaver. You just don't realize it because the enemies are starting to hit harder. And yeah, they start giving so many yellow herbs at the end, which kinda sucked, but selling Y+R+G for 10000 pesas or whatever rocks :lol

I was wondering about something I ran into in mercenaries, not the village or the castle but one of the other two stages, I was just wandering around and climbed a ladder and ran into this room so I could ambush jerks and
there was a GIANT FUCKING CHAINSAW GUY! like twice as big as the usual ones and he started swingin that thing around bzzt off with his head, who the hell was that guy?

Yeah, cashing in those extra herbs, provided I don't need them, is about the only way I'll be able to exclusive my Red 9 and Striker. Lots of herbs, not enough enemies dropping money though.

Shit, I heard there was some guy like that, but never ran into him in the normal game. Which Mercinaries level is he in, I wanna go search for him.

I'm playing the game over again and I'm now 2/5th of the way to the Chigaco Typewriter. It takes time to build up the money you need. But playing the game over again is fun as hell. Until you reach level 4-1, you are just TEARING THROUGH the game. The sniper rifle powered up so that you can shoot guys in the leg and kill them. One pistol shot (Red 9 exclusive) in the body will kill any Ganados.

Heh once your in the level chances are he'll find you first.

I chose that left path and had my first encounter with them. I used the shotgun (only had like 2 shells left over, was getting kind of nervous), I didn't think the handgun did anything to the chainsaw people - but headshots will take them down?

It hurts them, it just doesn't phase them so if they're charging after you, it's shotgun time.

And I finally ran into giganto the chainsaw guy. Jesus Christ. I had no chance, and Mercinaries is officially not for me. I really wanted to unlock Hunk/Wesker though.

Trust me. It's worth it, and perfectly do-able to beat the chainsaw twins. If lach can do, so can you!

:)

Oh I know I could do it with enough practice. But I also wasn't having any fun playing it so I'd have more fun just making money in the main storyline and get that Typewriter. Hopefully there will be a code somewhere eventually to unlock everything. I hear instead of a kick, Hunk has a move where he breaks the persons neck, sounds awesome :lol

These guys in robes are freaky...I just got past the catapult level, took me a few times to complete and find all their locations.

On my last attempt I had them all cleared out and that guy in the room, I turn around and BOOM two random enemies come lurching towards me, scared the shit out of me, First time I've had random enemies so far. Good stuff.

Also, I'm using the shotgun a lot here in the castle. I assume that's the strategy since they seem to give you more shotgun ammo now.
