I think the difference here is that RE4Wii/UC didn't outsell RE5, while TotW RM2 has outsold every Tales game since the PS2 era.

Heck its even worse than that.

The 3 best selling tales games since the PS2 era are all PSP games. 2 side games and a port.

Not according to this (which apparently lists Famitsu.com as its source)...

Only Radiant Mythology 1 & 2 outsold Hearts/Tempest/Innocence, which sold around 210K each LTD. DotNW had similar sales.

And Vesperia and DotNW both would probably exceed RM2 if you consider WW sales, if not RM1 also.

DotNW is at 212.408, while Vesperia is at 175.058 according to Famitsu.

Whycan't Media Create have these kind of charts, they only record the weekly sales.

How do we even know that Media Create is the most accurate?

Vesperia WW is still below RM1+2 IIRC, NA+JPN was somewhere around 280K, RM1+2 are around 300K. Don't know how much Europe is going to contribute. I think DotNW WW is around the same number as RM1+2?

And the Eternia port was above recent Tales games too.

I'm sure someone's going to come in and go into further detail, but eh. :P

I bought one like 2 years ago played a couple games and got bored with it, sold it for the same price I bought it for to some idiot and decided against the Wii...

hell I just heard that the cost of manufacturing the Wii has gone down like 40% but those pricks at Nintendo wont do a price drop...

I dont care if $250 is "affordable" something about that just annoys me
Its called making a profit. The old saying goes if something cost $.01 to make and people will pay $100 for it, they will continue to sell it at $100. Until the demand goes down, the price will stay up.

Just make a list of games you need to own on the Wii, once it gets to like 20 or so titles, get the system and have a blast.

I had to really motivate myself to do the impossible thing of using the bucket to make the area around the Japanese text black, but I didn't cower, I then had to use every ounce of my strength to pull that square cutter thing to remove all of that text, it was a nightmare! :O

Mother, don't make me do it again, DON'T MAKE ME DO IT AGAIN!!! :'O

That's smaller and lower in quality, I wanted a blank version of the one on the website.

Here is my shot at trying to render it, quick and dirty but I think its fine.

Eternia was released back when Tales games were more popular, and it was a launch window game.

I don't think it paints an accurate picture.

Did you look at the website in my post? According to that RM1 is at 296K and RM2 is at 214K.

In NA Vesperia and DotNW both exceeded 100K based on the Feb NPD thread, so Vesperia would be around 280K like you said, and DotNW would be around 310K.

And the Eternia port was above recent Tales games too.
ToE is at 194K... The three DS games all beat it and as does DotNW. At least according to that page.

Holy jebus. You're going to wait for the ps3 version which will have very little additional content instead of getting the 360 version now? You infidel! Another ps3 fanboy! go git him firestorm! Oh, romo still sux ;b
The entire game being fully voiced will be worth it imo, not to mention the extra content.

They really hit the mark with Vesperia, I hope they do alright with this one too.

:lol

The anger raging in the Japanese community is hilariously awesome.

It does sometimes make me wonder why companies continue this practice of pretending that it's an exclusive and then it's not. I know the business behind it...but man, it must really suck as a consumer, especially for those who can only afford one console.

Even the Famitsu 360 guy wrote about it in his blog...

Heh, as someone who followed the series weekly when the second season was in full swing [and will say that the idea & execution was amazing throughout the first season], you just saved yourself from the greatest disappointment in anime of '08 EVER. :lol

Come on already Famitsu, I wanna see these games and find out what the tri-Ace game is. :|

Garaph.info (and that site) list RM2 at around 296K. Above any recent Tales game in Japan, and at least equal with ToV WW. All it needs is a Best release or something and it'll overtake DotNW WW, assuming it hasn't already.

RM1 got a Best release IIRC, though I don't know where to look for numbers of that, which puts it above the DS Tales games and maybe the recent console ones.

ToE also got a Best release which also puts it above all the DS Tales and ToV/DotNW in Japan. It's hardly that far off considering WW either to be honest.

According to an NPD leak in Feburary IIRC, Vesperia sold 107K, and DotNW at 106K.

So no, DotNW definitely outsold RM2 WW.

I never said it didn't. :P

I was assuming that it'll eventually overtake that number, especially if it ends up getting a Best release or something (do they even do those anymore for the PSP? I have no idea).

Yeah I swapped the numbers for RM1 and RM2 there.

As far as RM1 Best goes though, it's probably below 20K, so its left off that site.

Great, if it ever comes out in the US, day 1 for me...but my ps3 is out of commission and i haven't finished the 360 version yet anyways...

I have that list going constantly in my head for all consoles

and for the Wii its at 1.... well 2 now... and SSBB isnt much motivation, IDK I just dont wanna play it

but a new tales mothership title, if quality, is enough I guess.. If I have the money at the time

I never figured it was a common practice for Wii games (not counting price collapses), but it's a possibility I guess?

From the top of my head:

Puyo 15th (all platforms)
Hudson's Wii games (Bomberman Land, etc)

Well... they're not common, but it's happened before. :P

Resident Evil games sold quite a bit on best releases on the Wii

The scans for ToV and ToVS are up. I don't think the interviews really say anything notable for the most part, but outside of that:

-Camera angles in cutscenes for ToV are being redone.
-ToV is 50% complete
-Anise Tatlin (Abyss), Kratos Aurion (Symphonia), Mighty Kongman (Destiny), and Stan Aileron (Destiny) are confirmed
-ToVS is 65% complete
-It appears ToVS isn't outsourced and is being made by Tales Studio?

Yay, Versus isn't a total mage and swordsman fest like Dissidia! I'm a little more interested now.

And ToV doesn't sound like some simple port with a few negligible additions like late ports usually get at all, it sounds like they're basically redoing the entire game. :P

I wonder what its chances of localization are now?

Is there more new stuff in Vesperia than just characters and different camera angles?

jeremy1456 said:

Changes/additions so far:

*New logo
*New character, Patty Fleur, voiced by Chiwa Saito.
*New boss
*New Hi Ougi/Mystic Artes
*New story scenes
*New side quests
*Main story is fully voiced
*Other new voiced content (like new skits)
*Voicework is double the amount of the original
*New animated FMVs
*New costumes
*Content in movie to tie in with the game

I have a feeling you might as well also say that the game is going to be rewritten a little so that Patty (and possibly Flynn?) mold better into the new changes.

I wonder, if it does come to the US, if Namco will pull a Namco by not recording any new dialogue for the game. It's sad but I could see them making all the new stuff just text. :lol

Tales Of Graces better come out here or I'll be chucking my Wii out a fucking window with the great FFIV news.

How are we arguing against logic? The simple fact that a cheap spinoff wii tales game sold as much as a mothership on the 360 in the US shows that it is a fina platform. Not only that, it sold well in japan too. I mean, they could put it on the HD systems, but what HD owner is not going to throw a shitfit if the game has wii graphics? Overall, the return on investment if it was HD exclusive would be lower than a wii exclusive.

Tales of Graces scans are sorta coming in, info as I get it:

-Graces is 30% complete.
-Battlefields are pretty darn big. Vesperia's battlefield size, or maybe even larger.
-Asbel's personality is more like a leader.
-This is the first time Inomata's designs can be changed into 3D without changes (her other 3D designs were only on the DS before).
-This time the connection between magic and skills has been changed greatly. Skills are used with the normal attack button (I wonder if this includes magic too).
-The illustration and logo are hiding an important hint.

Two years of development and the number they give is 30%? I have a feeling this game is probably going to be January or February 2010 now.

I was wondering why they haven't even bothered to announce voice actors or the heroine yet, they usually always do that by now.

At least it probably confirms that this game will be going through some graphical upgrades from the pics we saw now and the final product.
