Tango Gameworks has been officially reborn on New Year Day!

Microsoft closing this studio was easily the dumbest industry move in 2024. TGA should've handed over an award to Phil for that.

This also went against the entire ethos of game pass allowing freedom to make smaller games. It must be fucked up selling to Microsoft only be judged on sales and YouTube like engagement

Yeah it went against all logic tbh.

Great critic reception, great user reception, unique both in gameplay and visually, they finally had a japanese studio, smaller experimental title as a perfect fit to show the upsides of Gamepass, probably didn't cost too much to make, and the yearly cost for this studio was probably the size of a rounding error for Microsoft.

But nope. *chop*

Must've been the first panic move before they gave up and started going more multi and "This is an Xbox" etc. Ultimatum from Satya or something. Get some money or Xbox is closed. Phil seemed sad when talking about it an interview, like he didn't want to do it but "had to" do it.

It's a good thing the studio gets reborn anyhow. Good start of the year.

I have quite a bit fun with Ghostwire, which is a rather unique sandbox game in a cool setting. Hi Fi Rush was a fun romp too, for me probably their best game.

Didn't like Ghostwire Tokyo. Hated the combat.

I thought the Dr. Strange-esque combat was one of the high points for the game. Unfortunately it didn't evolve enough and the rest of the game was just an open-world hunt fest so I checked out.

I'd love to see them do Evil Within 3. I found part 2 to be a much better Resident Evil game than most of the recent RE releases.
