It's a portable Bluetooth speaker and FM radio that lets you rewind the previous 2 hours of output, for use in sampling and remixing, or something. Magic.

It costs $600 ($649 in red).

The leather bag to carry it in costs $400, or the leather strap alone $150.

It debuted today and both color options and the leather carry bag are both sold out.

I still wonder what happened to their turntable IKEA contracted them to engineer, I was really looking forward to that.

and here I was feeling slightly silly for spending $100 on my radio

I use it a ton but still don’t really get the target audience for the radio in OP

Didnt they make that recent gameboy knockoff with the crank? This seems right in the same valley of "I guess that's neat, but why would I want that when ____ exists?"

If this company were in high school they'd wear a fedora and fingerless gloves while chugging a PBR

Their Pocket Operators are brilliant.

Yeah, some of their Pocket Operators are great (Speak, KO, Tonic, Factory, Arcade). The OP-1 is their essential device (the new MSRP is way excessive though). The OP-Z is pretty cool but haven’t really gotten into it yet.

Not sold on their recent modular kits, and this speaker seems a little obscene.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
How is 2 hours “endless”?

OB–4 continuously memorises everything you listen to on an endless looping tape*. rewind, time-stretch and loop at the flick of your fingertips.

*ROLLING 2 HOUR RECORDING

I had the OP-1 for a couple of years, but then sold it since it didn't integrate into the rest of my studio setup well.
I am not a huge fan of their stuff, to be honest.

It always has that "wanna have" thing to it, but in the end it's not really professional gear, although it's sold at a professional price point.

Pass.

One of my dreams in life is to have a "sleeper home". Like it looks all vintage and shit with the furniture and decor. Total grandpa house; just loaded to the brim with smart technology though.

I'm halfway there already tbh

Free market capitalists: The market will sort it out, people will just buy the best products!

Teenage engineering: Let's see about that.

I love the design and the whole appeal of the products but... The entire model is wrong, they are selling smaller compact versions of tech already in use. They should be MUCH cheaper and more available. I swear they are like the Nintendo of music products.

$1200 for a little radio with a case??? Nah man.

I can't talk shit I paid $500 for a damn new age NES. The OP-1 is brilliant but priced out of the hands of the creatives that could really use it the most and the pocket shit is neat. I eagerly await EviLore EviLore to make bad decisions and purchase this radio for a full review.

Teenage Engineering marked their card with me when they told customers not to pay doubled scalper prices for their synth, more were coming...only to reissue it at more than double the original price.

Shameless, mercenary, hipster cunts.

Definitely not getting one haha. I do enjoy my OP-1 but I got it for $730 new w/ MoMA Store discount right before the price increase and don't think the current 2x ask is reasonable.

The hipster appeal is through the roof for sure.

Working musicians? I don't know. They either use the computer to generate sound or spend their money on big iron or do both.

When's your new album dropping? :messenger_winking:
