Omg why aren't you guys playing this. Bookey showed me the light. This game makes me a believer in online fighters and the game is better quality than I thought. Although the last tekken I played was a little bit of tekken tag for PS2 near launch. I did own all the ones that came to US on PSX though. PS2 Tekken Tag was great but I only rented it because I had just spent all on my shiny new PS2 and SSX.

I don't have a working mic yet (only the sound work on it, not the input). Let's do a tournament or something Gaf! I'll make the graphics and tree like old yahoo pool days. Can't wait for SF2 Turbo HD. I hope VF5 get a patch gawdy.

Also invite Bookey, and Tonx as they're perdy good.

I got through playing quite a bit online, I'm getting my Xiaoyu skills back! Beware.

Any tips?

It took me a while to get used to the block system. I come to understand it's auto block with stronger blocks if you hold back or so. I thought having a guard button on VF was weird the first time I started with that on PS2 but now I'm used to having full control of guard and countering. Also blocks don't seem to slow the aggressor down. When I block a big hit it staggers me instead of the person I think.

Trying to figure out how to stop Bookey from owning me, maybe I'm thinking too much. I learned how to constantly do a few long 10hit combo strings but hardly find an opening because I can't block + counter. Most of the time when I counter I get smacked in the face for not blocking again so I try to side step, or dash back which is like still in range for getting smacked.

Also for parry (d/f), is it that you can only parry low attacks? Well if your character don't have a parry move like Xaioyu's b+1 (I picked up on the Tekken lingo. I think that's correct for that move). I searched that tekken sight but I guess I'm looking in the wrong places.

7+ or so years ago when I was playing Tekken it was against friends and those moves from Xaio dominated for me. Now I'm shown how weak they are against the people all over the world. Unless I go in a room where people are on the same level, but has high ranking from powerleveling or something, and I wipe the floor with them. I'm learning a lot every day. Oh, just remembered this game had unblockable moves 1+2+3+4 that I would use back in the day, but they have a long setup time and leave you open for attacks. Now I shall look up for moves that aren't listed in the command menu.

I found these two but it's pretty hard to see the commands at times. Was hoping to get the original versions but the site neorussell put them is now expired (http://www.savefile.com/filehost/files.php?fid=7302471). Anyone have another souce other than flash/youtube heh?

Like I thought, way too much hidden stuff in tekken. Seems to be as deep as VF, think I like tekken more now that I'm actually able to get into finding out the finer details of it due to the way the internet is now as apposed to when tekken 3 was out on psx. For me at least.

Dang, I'm scared to try playing you now. I'll still look for any gaffer online. I got nothing to lose with my awesome record of 40:W 180:L (sigh). I'm getting pwn though, is what I tell myself.

ha! No reason to be afraid of me. I'm totally hot & cold. I did nothing but lose today. I went from Shihan to 6th Dan. >_<

Only 7 replies here? :( How come everyone's missing on the best fighting game ever?

Anyway I'm up for some games, PSN: ID

What do you guys think about organizing a little GAF tournament?

As a big fan of Tekken I went crazy when I heard they where about to release a online function for Tekken DR, but I'm really pissed of since I never managed to get a match going online.
When I scan the rooms, I only see one, and when I try connecting to that one, I always get a network error.

Anyway, Thanks for writing this guide. I'm trying it tomorrow and hope it will fix my problems..

there always seems to be plenty of people playing, try creating a room.

I prefer to create rooms no larger than 4 people, I dont know why people play in rooms of 6 and wait forever for their turn

I have a question about the game; where are the CG intros and endings for the characters? I can only see the ending of three; Armor King, Lili and Draganov. I played through he Arcade mode with another character and I didn't get neither an epilogue or a prologue CGI. doesn't the PS3 version have them?

Just got a PS3 last night and played some T5 online. Great stuff, except the lag was annoying. Is this always going to be an issue? I was also struggling to get QCF or QCB with the Sixaxis pad; I've never had a problem with PS-style D-pads before.

Anyway, I'm up for some matches, PSN ID is LiveWire78.

I'm really good with Paul, but I doubt I will be able to properly display my skills online. I'm mostly just in it for a good time because I haven't had a Tekken community to play with since Tekken 3.

My Tag is Sp3eD541. Just got this and the PS3 today, brings back tons of memories playing T3 and T4 while sitting in practice mode for hours doing juggles. Going to be playing this more then anything on the system :lol

the ps3 version is about 640 MB. It is in 1080P IIRC with an intro movie, tones of chars and music. So just ask your self how all those movies should be packed in 640 MB? Anyway you can download some movies, but no all of them.

Apologies for bumping an old thread.

I just got this recently and have done some offline practising. Haven't really played a Tekken game since 2 though, so you can expect me to be utter shite. PSN is Wopjuice. Hope to be a nice punching bag for some of you!

For latency purposes, I'm located in eastern Canada.

EDIT: Nevermind, found out that all versions are supposed to work. Dunno what's going on then.
