Tekken 7 - Offscreen videos

These are from the location test. Harada mentioned they're at about 50% of the expected final visual quality.

It seems they like sparks about as much as Killer Instinct.

Edit:

More videos. The bottom two have pretty rough quality.

After following the videos these past few hours, the sparks don't phase me. I'm desensitized.

Game looks flashier and more accessible than the last few entries, hopefully Namco Bandai can recapture their former presence in the FG market in the west.

Same.

Edit: Gonna post this gif here too:

Turns out you (and Harada lol) are absolutely 100% right. Guess it must have been years since I last looked at any of the Tag models, and I simply forgot how extremely detailed these models were for their time.

Don't even need to look at the total polycount, it's so obvious Tekken Tag models had a much more detailed mesh than Tekken 4. Here's a simple comparison I put up:

They changed Xiao's hairstyle and face. She now has a side part and a lock dangling. It looks weird also because her pigtails are usually higher on her head, these are on the sides. Is it an in progress build or an intentional new look?

I was about to say...

That Claudio guy looks fabulous as hell. I can't help but find the clothes physics on Katarina's... whatever she's wearing pretty distracting.

Claudio looks sick. Like a more refined Lars. He's also got the magic touch, apparently.

They didn't even update the graphics? The hell?

The graphics are different if you look closely. Trying to see an offscreen camrip from over the shoulder is going to take the omph out of any updates, even if its just 50% visual fidelity of the final product

Hopefully it looks much better than this by the time it hits current gen consoles. Aside from particles, both it and Killer Instinct are pretty meh visually.

I think most of the visual differences would be pretty hard to see off screen since I suspect they're mostly things like textures resolution and more polygons at this point.

That said this is also what Tekken Tag Tournament 2 looks like in direct feed so if the final game looks like a 360/PS3 game when freeze framed I wouldn't be overly shocked given the kind of PS2-esque buckets and barrels here:

Besides the obvious KI-style hit sparks, the lighting and cloth physics are looking really awesome. Can't wait to see some high quality direct feed footage.

That guy's not very good at Asuka.....

I hope the character designs are better this time. I really enjoyed played TT2, but the costumes were the worst in the series.

They replaced ground bounds with air bounds. Looks pretty interesting.

Backdashing seems terrible now judging by the Kazuya vs Leo match. Is this what Harada meant by making movement easier?

EDIT: Nice, you can now do a wakeup kick into a back roll.

I haven't watched any other Tekken 7 footage before but i like how much more grounded and "heavy" the animations look in these videos instead of the shitty "bouncing",weightless animations we got in Tekken 6.These actually remind me of the animations from Tekken 5 DRO which for me had the most ballanced and finely tuned combat out of any Tekken game (i skipped TT2 though so i can't comment on that.)

I really hope they don't change the animations for the console version. They look perfect as they are in those videos.Graphics also look great already.Characters also remind me of the T5 DRO characters but of course a lot more improved. Thankfully no sight of the shitty glowing blur filters either like those in T6 (even with the option turned off that game looked awful.)

Now i just wish they implement an online hub system similar to that of T5 DRO and this could become my favorite Tekken game ever.

The child in me laughed.

Looks good to me. I had to watch a few of the vids posted before settling on a conclusion on the graphics. You have to look a little close to see the improvements there, but there are definitely many to be spotted if you take the time. It looks good to me.

I like the slowdown on the final blow, definitely better than seeing the same strike from 3-4 angles, I never liked that.

Being a fighting game fan, will buy on launch. Where you at Capcom? Show something!
