TEKKEN 7 releases June 2nd (PC/XB1/PS4, Season Pass, Eliza, more details)

Bought a fight stick mini from Hori for this game. I know its on the cheap side, but I haven't used a stick since I was a child. Don't know if its gonna work out.

I prefer D pad aka playstation controller but if you can master the stick its definitely better. My biggest weakness lately has been breaking out of grabs because of getting to comfortable holding the controller a certain way.

Murray's comments towards people complaining about the DLC announcement. Since then they've been getting bombarded. They bring up the DLC thing in numerous interviews.

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1spif4h

Harada's comments after the backlash.

They had an Eddy Gordo reveal and now complete radio silence.

Man...

Since the Eddy reveal they've had

- DLC roadmap where they talked a little about DLC (March 15)
- Character Episode Trailer 1 (March 24)
- Tekken Talk where they showed off newer characters and new stages (March 30)
- T7 Modes Trailer (April 27)
- Tekken Talk with Max showing more info on the console version (May 1)
- Character Episode Trailer 2 (May 17)
- Story Trailer (May 19)
- Bamco reveals official console opening (May 20)
- Character Episode Trailer 3 (May 22)
- Character Episode Trailer 4 (May 25)
- Tekken World Tour Announced (May 25)
- PC T7 features announced (May 26)
- Harada and Murray speak on tournament mode in Q&A video (May 29)
- Harada and Murray speak on character development in Q&A video (May 29)

That's a shame about the backlash they've gotten. I never had a problem with DLC when Harada said "expect normal Tekken stuff" in the base game; I thought we were all good. I don't even have a problem with the free DLC dribble approach necessarily (though if those chars end up not getting a story or ending or customizations, that would be a shame). I just want the roadmap for the free DLC so I know what the $60 is buying. All the paid DLC, the guest chars, sure keep a wrap on that. But obviously there's some other factors at play here, which puts those of us hoping for our fave char/mode back in a tough place.

Completely agree with you. It didn't bother me either but you know how some people are. Yeah I thought we were too but then this happens. We'll just have to see.

None of those are even close to a character reveal..... Can you link to the DLC road map? They are basically ignoring the biggest questions fans have. What the hell does the season pass have, what is the DLC, is there any unlockables? Who are the guest characters? Does harada himself even know who they are? Are they adding classic characters for free or never? What is the one day patch? Is it just a balance? That's what I mean by silent. They won't answer any questions.

?

It doesn't matter if it's a character reveal because everything is content. It's not as if a character reveal is the only important thing in this game. That's what I mean about them spreading info out to have have frequent coverage. They can't always reveal characters. For the other questions you have, that's what I mean about them not saying anything. It all comes after the game's released. People gave them a huge backlash once they even talked about DLC. No reason for them to say all of those answers now when people responded the way they did and when they still have things to announce post release. That just doesn't make any sense. You want them to reveal everything right now before the game's released but what you don't understand is that wouldn't be a smart move because of backlash and due to the fact that they'll still have to reveal things after the game's launched. No company reveals every single DLC plan they have before their game's officially released regardless of what fans want. They always save information afterwards for post-release. It's the same reason why INJ2 and SFV's DLC characters aren't completely known now.
Tekken_dlc-timeline_v5_1489598091.jpg
That's all that's known about DLC because they still have to wait until the game's announced to clarify what all of this means. They hadn't even started on this according to Harada and Murray when they announced it. You always have to give them time before they do these things. You really want them telling everything now because you're not secure in your purchase when really that's not how things work especially considering they haven't even locked down everything they want to do post-release. The whole reason for the Season Pass is to gain funds for an extra year of content for this game so they had to announce something. Without that announcement, the game would only have 2 months post-support like TTT2 did and that would be it.

Some fans might be against it because they don't know what it is but you guys don't have to pick up the Season Pass yet. Just hold off on it.

We do know about the season pass:

The first batch, to be released this Summer 2017, will provide a brand-new game mode and more than 50 new costumes. The second and third batches of content, to be released respectively this Winter 2017 and next Spring 2018, will both feature one exclusive playable guest character from other videogames’ licenses with, each time, a special stage and special costumes for these guest characters. This 3 post launch pieces of content will be purchasable individually but will also be available through the Season Pass that will grant to each buyers 35 exclusive metallic costumes.

Many games don't reveal who their DLC characters are until closer to the time. We don't know who the Injustice characters are outside of the ones releasing very soon. They've given a pretty standard amount of information.

I'm definitely waiting on the season pass, it seems they aren't sure themselves what's being released. It's too vague for my liking. I don't like comparing fighters but I do appreciate Injustice 2 for providing upfront the three DLC characters that are going to be available. Are those for only season pass holders? What is coming for those without it or are they exclusive to season pass owners.

There won't be clarification I understand but that's the part of my frustration.

And who knows what that mode is. If it's anything we've ever had before, then it's clear they held off on it for a season pass. Imagine it's bowling, ball, survival, time attack or team battle lol.

It's kinda nuts that Injustice 2 is giving 9 DLC fighters & Tekken 7 is only doing 2. Unless the guest characters will be paid & traditional Tekken characters will be free.

The season pass contains three DLC packs that can be purchased separately. The only thing exclusive to the season pass is the metallic costumes. That's pretty clear, it's only vague if you don't read it.

Injustice 2 is revealing their DLC characters because Red Hood is due to drop next month. Tekken is much further away.

NRS games have wildly different development schedules built to accommodate DLC, which they've been doing for quite a few games now. This is Tekken's first attempt.

And Murray straight shot down the "we held off modes for dlc" comment on Twitter. They haven't even started on it yet and they had to get a completely new budget approved for dlc. Without that budget, this base game would be it. No additional characters, no modes, just this. Yall need to chill.

Calm down? Who's mad? I just said that's a ridiculous comment to say they don't have passion for the series due to them doing something people don't like.

The fact is from a business perspective, it makes most sense to have announcements for DLC post-release rather than reveal everything pre-release. If you blow your load on DLC announcements pre-release then everything you mention afterwards is info already known. That's common sense. It's not that they're completely going mute, you have to keep the information rolling and spread it out rather than showing your entire hand at once. Once the game's out they can hit the DLC info but pre-game release talking all about your DLC plans isn't a smart move. That's why they only revealed pieces of it.
Though from a business side is usually the opposite. Companies has talked in the past that most games/gamers only have their attention for the first month, then collapse. So the season passes and the announcements of what they had usually were done before release so that people knew beforehand that the game would continue receiving content, and also to gauge demand. Many of this content atleast has a budget allocated, so they need to start recouping some of the costs back. Is why lately some only sell the game alone or bundled with the pass, the standalone pass is not sold separately until after release.

How soon it varies. It is recommended at least 1 month before release. Not announcing everything, but at least the first content.

WB didn't talked about the pass for Injustice 2 until 2 weeks before release, outside it having 9 characters, 3 skins and 2 shaders.

Capcom talked about MvCI's 4 months aheads in comparison. 6 characters, announced the first and gave a planned release for all charactera by the end of 2017.

In this particular case, I think they have handled things well. They already released a timeline a month before release and what each will have. Granted, some want specifics but is too early to be specific in some aspects since things could change.

TTT2's dlc characters were free. Harada has said plenty of times he's not charging for classic characters and with this season pass not only can they get guest characters but provide free support for a year. They just haven't announced it officially yet. Without this pass we would have seen a TTT2 situation where after two months that was it.

I don't blame them for keeping silent on the guest characters; they are from other games, and possibly other companies, so they probably aren't free to announce anything early. Plus Bamco probably wants to keep hype sustained over time by having separate reveal events.

I'm divided on the season pass myself, as I don't care at all about guest characters. I never liked seeing Vader, Yoda, Link, and Spawn in SoulCalibur games. It just felt wrong. Even seeing Akuma in T7 feels wrong. But if there are other stages that are really good, then I might be tempted. Hopefully these things are available separately.

Harada's comments after the backlash.

Really sounds like they were on a tight budget. Which isn't really surprising considering how fast TTT2s WTF shut down, which obviously wasn't Haradas call.

Also the Tekken team most probably runs through a PR filter, so I wouldn't expect much info outside of official announcements.

I wonder how Tekken Revolution did for them. That was such a weird thing, but I loved it.

Are they seriously not going to reveal the contents of the season pass before release?

Not saying it's acceptable, but...no fighter w/ a season pass is doing that.

Injustice selling us a 100 dollar edition, we only know 3 of the 9 characters.
SF5 S1 got leaked. S2, we don't know (though after Ed's story, looking like we might have a better idea).
T7, same deal.

Are they seriously not going to reveal the contents of the season pass before release?

What company does this?

Again, they've already told us what we're getting, just not the specifics. This is how everyone does it. Hell, companies used to get roasted for having full DLC announces before release because it meant they'd developed far in advance and was often on disc.

This doesn't calm any fears. Tekken is so third rate. Feels bad. They spent years catering to a hardcore audience which obviously wasn't enough.

That talk of martial arts styles, I remember when Tekken taught me about new styles and had me researching and being more aware. Now they don't want to use any because it might not be popular?

You can tell me to chill, but I'll still be buying the game so the only thing I have left is my mouth/message boards since I won't be doing any voting with my wallet.

I get your defense. But not everything is worth defending. There's been some serious missteps with this series and we might be witnessing the end?

Must have missed that part.

I just wanted to know what I'd get out of the season pass, not necessarily the characters and such.

I already put $100 of PSN credit in anticipation. Unlike a certain other fighting game, I feel confident Tekken 7 will give us our money's worth.

Tbh man, a lot of what you're saying doesn't make any sense. How are you saying this will be the end of Tekken when the arcade version is giving Bamco more profit than ever in this series which ensures it'll continue? I know you're upset but you need to relax here.I said you need to chill because you brought up the "they might hold a mode back for DLC" comment along with the the comment about the series ending because you see things happening you disagree with. That doesn't mean the series is ending. That means your idea of the series is ending.

Saying Tekken will end because of this is being melodramatic.

Shouldn't have watched that overview trailer, hype increasing. Just hoping that netcode is good now, it's all I really need. Gotta get bodied by TekkenGAF.

The hyperbole in here has reached comedic levels. Wooow.

People who have it say it's been good, but we all know that can change when it's actually out.

Lol you say that like it's a bad thing. All the DLC characters in I2 is exactly why i'm holding off on it till the the GOTY ediiton. The fact that the only 2 DLC characters are guests and that any other characters will probably be free is big reason why I'm getting T7.

Treasure Battle is fun, kinda makes for the lack of Versus CPU. But I already miss Team Battle, I have friends coming to try the game tonight and we all love this mode to try several characters in one long duel.

Netcode is pretty good for me, I've found matches pretty fast even 3 days before the official release!

I said that too, but NRS is already selling the GOTY edition for I2, it's the Ultimate Edition which is $100 USD.

Traditional characters will be free. It's been said before by Harada.

Btw, Eliza doesn't fall under traditional characters, so after the Day one period is over she'll be a pay character only.

Ya treasure battle has been a blast

....ermmmm

Heh whoops, sorry, I haven't followed SFV closely, didn't know Blanka got axed. Damn shame.

But I already miss Team Battle, I have friends coming to try the game tonight and we all love this mode to try several characters in one long duel.
!

Yup, Team Battle is the ultimate party & casual couch mode. Still shook that they took it out. Please Harada, make it a free update.

I'm told that Bamco is penny pinching, we get a fairly restrained console release compared to the past and vanilla 7 was the barest of bones. What am I to believe?

I just don't imagine the next Tekken blowing minds with this pattern is all. We'll see?

I'm just fucking antsy. I haven't had a Tekken I liked and really sunk into since T5. Give it to me now!

I'm only buying Starfire, could careless about the others heh.

I feel I'm the only one bothered by Akuma's and Eliza's inclusion. Anyone else feel the same.

Yeah fuck that lol. I can wait a year to get all of that for a third of the price. Both MKX and GAU had a GOTY so there's no reason why this one wouldn't.

Grabbed my copy earlier this morning, finished the main story, won my first ranked match: mad in love with the game.
I feel like it's Tekken 3 all over again.

Game looking sharp on my Pro too, curious to see how it runs on regular PS4.

Idk i'm very "OCD" about DLC characters in games. Even if it's characters I never plan on using I always feel like my copy is incomplete and it always irks me to no end.

Also why are you bothered by Akuma and Eliza?
