Not true of the full match any longer. Murray 4-2 up in the second.

Could be trouble for Murray here - he's called for the trainer, and he's back in his chair with the facial expression of a man with severe constipation. After a poke and prod he's ordered to lie on his back - the trainer pushes his knees up into his chest before tapping him on the shoulder and pushing him back into the arena.
There's no shame in losing to a player like Murray. Frankly I'd be surprised if he didn't win the Australian Open this year, Nadal is weaksauce on hard courts, Djokovic is in a slump, Federer is getting older, and while there are definitely players outside the top four who have the tools to beat him (Tsonga, for example) most of them are too inconsistent to be likely to do much damage. Frankly I wouldn't put any money on Gulbis this year, he's a total headcase (beats Djokovic in the first round, then loses in the second to Paul-Henri Matthieu) and he always goes for big shots so when his game is off he just sprays errors everywhere. He's still young, so there's definitely room for improvement, but if he can't get his head on straight he could easily just turn into another Gasquet or Berdych. Honestly, I see more potential in Nishikori, who is also young but who has demonstrated mental toughness; once he bulks up a bit, gets his backhand under control, and adds a few mph to his serve he'll be a formidable player.Peru said:Get back there, Fed-man. Have UK newspapers have stopped calling him Scottish when he loses yet, or are they still holding back until he reaches number one?iapetus said:And it's done. Murray gets another break to make it 6-7 6-2 6-2.

It's a shame, really. After seventy years of being forced to write about mediocre players like Henman, you'd think when the country finally produced a truly great one like Murray, the UK press would be leaping at the opportunity to drown him in liquid praise. Then again, based on everything I read from the UK I get the sense that you guys take a perverse delight in athletic mediocrity and are uneasy if things seem to be going too well.iapetus said:They're still up to the old tricks. Don't forget their love of portraying him as some sort of anti-England zealot. Short of changing his name to Tim and moving to Surrey I don't think they're going to warm to him that much...

I am so happy to see this day (year) come at last. I hope Murray can assert himself in every major this year, because we all know he can. Legend in the making - the press can go screw themselves to be honest.clemenx said:I for one welcome our new Scottish overlord. :lol
