I think this is a great song, but I don't understand the video at all. It has a Roy Orbison reference, and I think it is for the movie Pretty woman, and then a ton of other stuff that I don't understand, like the pope, Poseidon, hockey players and so forth.

You know, I know that viewed through the modern lens, it can be easy to find much of the 80's cringy, but I have no shame. Growing up during that era, I love it. There's an innocence that I find endearing, especially as cast against the cynicism and bitterness so prevalent today. Long live the 80's! If it's cheese, it's finely aged.

I think there are youtube channels kinda like this or maybe MTV classic, but I'd actually pay decent money for a channel that just played 80's MTV in a bit of a compressed form that took you on a linear journey through just the 80's (well 1983 to '89 or whatever) in like a year of real time. I want to see those classic vj' s, compilation shows like headbangers ball, and the weird shit they had before the reality shows took over.

Agreed, but some of this stuff is acquired taste.80s pop is unique because of all the new tech being used. I think that's why people can't remake it correctly.
