Test Taking Quirks

I was taking a Psych final today and I realized how many crazy ass, stupid things I do during a test. This led me to wonder if anybody else is as weird as me when it comes to taking a test. So, rather than make a fool of myself in front of real people, I come to you with my stupidness.

Stupid things I do during a test, in order of stupidness:

1. If I skip a bunch of questions - maybe 5 or 6 because I don't know them - and then all of a sudden I roll off like 4 or 5 in a row, I always sing the Days of Thunder song in my head. You know the one that plays when Cole Trickle (Tom Cruise) comes right out of the giant car crash at Daytona in the final scene. Then he starts passing people like crazy and the announcer yells out, "The man on the move is Cole Trickle!" Yeah, I tell myself that in my head right after I sing the song.

2. If I don't know the first question on a test, I will only do the even numbered questions the first time through. If I know the first and third, but not the second, then I only do the odd numbered questions my first time through the test.

3. If I don't know the first 3 or 4 questions, I start from the last question on the test and work my way backwards. I actually did this with nearly every test I took in 9th grade...not because I never knew the first few questions, it was just a weird superstition.

4. I use the same pencil for every test.

5. I used to wear the same hoodie for every test, but I somehow lost the "Test Hoodie" - just vanished one day.

6. I try to sit in the same seat for every test - which is obviously not always possible. If I see somebody sitting in my seat, I hate them for the rest of the semester.

needs to show more effort.
you... are just a freak, I'm sad to say =P

only thign I can think of that I do at a test other than taking the actual test is I put small marks next to the question number (if its scantron) based on how confident I feel about that question so I can aproximate a grade before I leave.

I never shaved the day of an exam. I usually tried to look the slob actually.

It was weird.

I also waited until everyone else was cooking through the exam before I started. I'd just kinda peruse the exam and wait for everyone else to dig in. It's as if I was trying to make sure this wasn't some kind of joke exam or if something critical was missing before I started.

Actually, my test taking was always the same

1) read every question,

2) go through every question, get as far as I can without stopping to think about it,

3) go through every remaining question, thinking about them this time,

4) recheck all questions,

5) write answers/color circles on official answer sheet, if needed,

6) Hand in and leave.

But what really unnerved the people around me was the fact that I used to laugh and talk under my breath during tests. Especially when I was mumbling about things that had nothing to do with the test, and yet tearing my way through the exam.

:lol I have my psych final tomorrow, my last exam :D It'll make me feel better after writing biochemistry today :S

Anyway I don't do any of that weird stuff...you're pretty unique man! :lol maybe that's just the nice way to put it :p

Usually I just go through question by question. I guess the only unnecessary thing I do is that for multiple choice exams, I'll circle the answer in the actual exam and code it in the scantron as well.

When its multiple choice letters, (a) (b) (c) (d) etc...if i get like 3 or 4 of the same letter in a row i get reaaaaaaly paranoid and go back to double check them.

:lol I do the exact same thing. That drives me nuts.

I used to meditate for three or four minutes at the beginning of each test. I figured it would calm me and help me to remember things better. It worked, too.

In the middle of tests, if I am just completely lost and start freaking out, I just start drawing pictures to take my mind of the test for a moment.

I was taking an O-Chem test once and I was completely lost...I didn't know ANYTHING. So, I ended up getting like a D on the test, but I turned it in with this awesome ass drawing of Ayrton Senna's Williams Renault F1 car right next to one of the reactions. It was so sweet.

I've turned tests in with nearly full page drawings of tigers, the Stay Puft Marshmallow man, Charlie Brown, and even Eric Clapton. Nobody's ever commented on my art work, though...

If I don't know the answer to a question and have absolutely no idea, I'll try to make the bubbles on my scantron sheet look like a cool lightning bolt.

If it's a super duper important test like a final then I either get Final Fanasy boss music stuck in my head or start up Rockies Eye of the tiger.

If the test is for a class I've studied and worked hard at, I get the rocky music stuck in my head. If the test is really difficult for me because I've slacked off but I still have a chance at a C or B then I get the boss music.

If I am going to flunk the class and test then I just get really depressed and no music. I also doodle on it to entertain my test grader. Probably in the hopes that I get extra points for the neat graphics.
