Yeah, there's really no reason to shoot inside a moving vehicle - even if the cop was being dragged or something it's still a bad shoot. Guessing the bodycam footage will be pretty damning for the cop.

I want to see this police cam footage...Not the actual shooting but the so called "Aggressive driving" and when it is shown that the police officer killed a kid for no reason I want them arrested and put in jail for murder.
I know this will not happen, but my god this is getting stupid.

At some point you have to just accept that this is part of the job of being a police officer.
Cops overly ticket minorities, as part of their job. Cops kill unarmed people, as part of their job. Cops stand by their murdering coworkers because that's part of their job.

Yeah, this just makes me want to get a dash cam for my car even more. I mean it could be possible because we don't know all the details, but the bar has to be set pretty high if you are gonna be shooting in a car. Also, how does striking people in the car make the car magically stop EVEN if it was going straight at the police officer? You jump out the way.
Had this been a car full of White teenage girls, would this have happened? Of course not.
The "danger" would have been the same (a moving car), and yet it would have been a different outcome.

I just dont understand how this can repeatedly be allowed to happen and how this is even open for interpretation. If you are not capable of handling the pressure that is to serve and protect then hand in your gun and find another career.

Then you combine that with a very power hungry "respect my authority or be killed" mentality, and it all makes sense why they wouldn't get out of the way. even if the cops were called by racists and the shooter had a history of racial prejudice, that doesn't mean this shooting was motivated by the race of the victim. Nothing would have changed if the car had been full of white kids.

What am I trying to justify. Race may play a part in pre-existing prejudices but I don't see ant evidence that the actual shooting was motivated by the race of the victim. Whether or not the cop gets properly punished for this crime is another matter entirely.
Even if the people who called this in did so because they were scared by black kids, that has nothing to do with the motivation to shoot at a moving vehicle. Even if the officer shot because he was afraid there was black people driving, that's not something you can prove, and the only thing that would result from pursuing hate crime charges would be an acquittal.

I was told in grade school that Police bureaus don't hire people that are overly intelligent as they fear a job like policing wouldn't be stimulating enough to make them stay. Every time as shooting like this happens, I get reminded of that.

Not necessarily. If after dragging the kids out of the car, handcuffing them (including the dying kid,) breathalyzing them, strip searching them for weed, running them for outstanding warrants, checking their academic records, searching their social media accounts for unsavory thoughts, etc...* maybe they realized the driver was just backing up too quickly because they too heard the gunshots and were scared.

It is insane.. I know the police here also does a lot of mistakes in Germany and we have some other weird laws, but honestly the police in the states needs a reform on a national level. This shit can't be happening.. or if it does then there has to be some punishment.
So sad for the young boy and his family and friends, doing nothing wrong but being killed.. and they know the media and police will try to spin it again as if their young son COULD have been a threat to the officer.

Cops arrive and gunfire is heard.
The kids hurriedly leave the party after hearing gunfire.
The kids are challenged by a cop while they are on foot and run to the car.
The kids reverse away from the cop that challenged them but there are two more cops at the end of the alleyway.
The cop that challenged them shoots into the car killing the front passenger.
The car does not stop at this point but stops a block later when the other kids realise the passenger is shot.

It's understandable that the kids were scared and ran, even after being challenged while they were on foot. Hopefully the footage sheds some light on the situation.
