Okay, OT Gaffers, it's the moment you've all been waiting for - The 2005 GAMING-AGE "YES THERE IS STILL TIME FOR A SPRING MIX" MIX EXCHANGE. That's right, it's a chance to (show off to/torture) your fellow forum users with your music tastes and the ability to create one sweet mix.

During the summer and fall exchanges we've adopted digital downloads of the mixes, with plenty loving it. Instead of using my space, I figured we could just use yousendit and other sources for file distribution. Makes it a lot easier for me. You can feel free to do it the old fashion way if you wish, and I'll make every effort to make sure those who are found of actually sending and receiving burns will get to do just that.

Here's what you need to do to get involved:

1. Post in the thread - Let everyone know you're gonna be involved!
2. Send me a PM with the following: Preference (digital/classic), musical tastes, and five of your favorite CDs this year. - I'll try to match people up into groups that have similar tastes, but not enough where their mixes will include all of the same songs.
3. Check to see your name in the top post as part of the mix exchange - If it takes more than a day, send me a PM or post in the thread.
4. Wait for dates - I figure that by next Friday we should have all the groups together, with mixes due at the latest by the end of May. That way it's out of the way before the New Year. If you have problems with the timetable, please don't hesitate to let us know. We understand.
5. Listen, Review - Crucial steps that tend to get overlooked. Each poster works hard on their mix (I think), and some input for the time they spent on it seems fair. Even if it's just 100 words or a song or two you want to write about, acknowledge the time spent on the mix by its creator.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Edit: List of those involved in the mix.

Yea, I'm in. It's already got the staples of a great CD - obscure video game music, an obnoxiously long closing track and whiney Jewish rockers.

I hope someone doesn't refuse to share with me because some guy's been accusing me of being "gay-ish" in the Coldplay thread.
Refuse to share with you for taking a stand against mediocrity? Hell, I double-allow you to share for doing such a feat.

i'm not making individual mixes anymore because i'm too lazy, so i'm going to make up for it by making 3 mixes instead of 2.

We just submit our own music? Shit, I've been producing my own music for years. Can I just sumbit one that I recently recorded in April?

Christ I'd love to join... but my being in Scotland deems me as a HARD sell for receiving Physical mixes.

Keep me in mind for the next one when I, both, have more time and a better locale. (My eccletic tastes will reign supreme ;) )

I'll add you guys. I'll be making the groups in a little bit, but I've got some cleaning and an early dinner engagement with the family. Check back later tonight for all that jazz (and groups).

I have an idea. How about for the physical mixers we have a bit of a vintage theme and exhange actual mix cassettes as opposed to CDs? We did this at the Sonic Youth board and it was mucho fun.

Do you like British Sea Power? They're going to New York on the 14th. Go. Their live show is incredibly great and loud, and I couldn't believe how crazy they got.

My ears are ringing a terrible amount, which makes me wish that I had worn earplugs. I'll have to look into that. :(

If I'm not mistaken it's 21+, and is probably sold out already. But yes, I like BSP. I'm seeing Sleater-Kinney next month.. can't wait for that.
