Immediately after Austin delivered the 3:16 promo, people connected with Stone Cold and became fans.
"Austin 3:16 says I just whupped your ass!" is what launched him. Yes, it needed follow-through, but that's where people took notice. I think he could have created another moment down the road and he was obviously talented enough to make it, but it's really tough to say whether Stone Cold Steve Austin would have been "Angry Stone Cold Steve Austin" without the KOTR push.

Other comparable promos to Austin's would be the Rock joining the Nation, CM Punk's "Punk Pipebomb", and Scott Hall invading WCW.

are in a big trouble
Known by many legends as the greatest era in the history of the business. I've seen so many people who weren't apart of it denying it was that good and think the pg era is better 😂

I feel bad for fans today. The product is terrible and even with AEW it's still bad in comparison

The Monday night wars the greatest

I loved the attitude era. Honestly, there was a point from like 96'-2001 or so where wrestling was just insane and very fun to watch. Fell off after that and never went back. No idea if it's better or worse now, but I did love it then. There's a Twitch channel that only streams old WCW/WWF from that time frame and I'll put it on if there's nothing else I feel like watching.

Link?

That was when I watched it, stopped after that.

Such an incredible time, I honestly feel fortunate I was able to experience the Attitude era because nothing like it will ever happen again. It was literally everything that made the 90s so great condensed into a two hour weekly show. The sheer creativity in storylines and characters was just so extraordinary, you could rattle off skits and promos for hours and still laugh your ass off at every one.

I think the Stone Cold character as a whole just really resonated with fans. You gotta think the average WWF fan was middle or lower class, probably working a lot of dead end jobs with asshole incompetent bosses. And here comes Stone Cold, who every Monday night is harassing and terrorizing the actual CEO of his company, fulfilling the fantasy that every worker who just got told they have to come in on a holiday or was denied even a $.25 an hour raise. The man literally smashed Vince McMahon over the head with his own hospital bedpan. How could people not love him?
