As the MLB regular season comes to a close in a few days, it's cool to see Stanton trying to reach 60.
In my opinion, the record is still 61. If it were up to me (and I know it isn't), McGwire and Sosa's 60+ seasons would be removed. Loved what cycling did with Lance Armstrong's titles. He likely would have won at least 2 of them if not for juicing. But it doesn't matter, he cheated the sport of a clean winner. Anyways....
It took 13 years from 1977 to 1990 for someone to hit 50 homeruns, and then the juiceball era really began in 1995. Clearly, by then Mcgwire and Canseco have been using steroids for several years already.
The sheer number of 50 home run hitters in the past 20 years is staggering!!!!
And then it dies down again starting from 2008. Hmm.... What happened around then? Oh yea, the reports and testimony of known juicers.
Now, we've only had 3 50 home run hitters in the last 10 years, and Stanton is the first in 4 years. Hmm... complete co-incidence?
The ones that make me laugh are the Brady Anderson and Luis Gonzalez.
