The 80s were an interesting time

The kids of today will never have a break dancing Hitler or sexy Nazi schoolgirls.

1980s > Current day

Amongst the elaborate high school performances at EON FM’s Rock Eisteddfod was Broadmeadows High performing To Be or Not to Be (The Hitler Rap) in 1984.

Their performance was full of teens and swastikas ….and a moonwalking Adolf with a mullet.

They lived under the constant threat of nuclear war. They knew the bomb could drop at any moment and end it all, so just party hard and live every day like it’s the last you’ll ever see.
We really did believe that BTW... I used to draw my apocalypse survival vechical while bored in school. Plus we always knew where all the sporting good stores were at just in case we had to Red Dawn and gear up on ammo and guns. It took until 2020 for it to finally happen.

It was a badass decade that produced awesome music and movies, I was only a sperm at the time so I didn’t get to experience it firsthand sadly

To me the 80s and 90s were the best time in history.

You had enough technology to make your life better, computers for processing, gaming, within a lot of familys price range. Gadgets like walkmans, mini TVs and enough toys to make your life better. The effort to be actually good at programming and diagnosing problems, networking and so on kept people employed and kept usual morons away from influencing tech.

But not so much tech that it turned people into zombies, tied to their social media, demanding their need to self aggrandize.

I miss that time, I consider myself lucky to be in my late teens and 20s during that time, I got to see the best the world ever was and maybe ever will be.

In the 80ies, we still had alarm sirens mounted on the roofs in german cities and towns.

Once every few months you could hear them (testing out if they still work), and once per year those sirens went off as an exercise, where our whole elementary class had to walk to the cellar to prepare for the case the bombs dropped.

That was eerie.

That was probably the last era where you had to toughen the fuck up on your own. We took off from the house to have fun/raise hell and no one could track us. Got bullied? Figure it out. Shooting usually wasn't involved. It'll never ever be the same but that's okay cuz we already lived through the greatest decade of the 1990s. :messenger_halo:

Unless you were in your dads's ballsack the week before January 1st 1990, I don't think you were a sperm in the 80s.

90's brought Pantera in their prime, really great cartoons and pretty much the last generation to really have a real childhood. I was born in 86 so the 80's to me were a blur until 1991-ish where I think as a 5yr old had some Robocop toys for Xmas. Even though it was an adult movie. Not that kind of adult movie lol. Though my older bro and his friends introduced me to Rambo movies. I've had shellshock ever since haha.

Thank goodness for My80sTV, My90sTV and Reboot (not the CG series...though that's pretty cool, too). Most of my entertainment time's been spent watching '80s and '90s cartoons, anime, movies, tv shows etc.

Early to mid '00s weren't too bad tho tbh. Sixth gen gaming was amazing, there were still some cool cartoons like Billy & Mandy coming out, movies like Sin City were awesome, and anime was getting licensed for subs and dubs more (plus that's when I started branching out watching stuff besides what Toonami was bringing on, though I'd say early-mid '00s was Toonami at its peak).

I think there was still a good balance of tech in terms of how much it was in people's lives, but that started to go out of wack once the iPhone and iPad came out. But the real moment I think things started truly going to shit was with social media hitting an apex moment around 2014. I think that's when the modern-day political infestation started seeping into entertainment.

Too bad it wasn't at critical mass enough for most people to notice or care, but it feels like that's when it started settling in.

Looked like a very gross and problematic era. Things are so much better now especially for minorities.

80's and 90's was probably peak humanity. What a time to be alive. If you missed it sorry. Early 2000's was kinda the last hurrah and then it really went downhill after that.

The SS guys look like they are Islanders. It was an inclusive era the 80s, everyone could be Nazis.

And in other news, when it comes to rap...

80S were great. I miss when no one gave a crap if they offended someone.

Maybe this protest generation will go like the 60s protest generation and become yuppies, then birth the next greatest generation

I was expecting that to be East Germany for some reason.

80s had great stuff but also very cringey stuff as well that would offend even the most oblivious person.

Late 90s/Early 00s was where it's at!
