*SIGH* Why must you drag me into this??

Spirited Away - Entirely surreal, and as far as I've experienced, Miyazaki's best. Everything about it speaks animated fantasy classic. Kid's will be delighted, scared, involved.. But most of all, they will remember it.
4.
Toy Story - I abide by the original as Pixar's greatest still, barely outdoing The Incredibles. It's the complete joy they took with animation that did it. They could have thrown in cheap throwaway gags all over the place like Dreamworks did. The retarded method of being in pop culture. But Toy Story took the method of creating their own world, with it's wonders and grande look. Like the gas station, next door neighbors, the event of moving, garage sales, pizza delivery trucks, crane machines, army men! It's a complete masterpiece! The second, despite a lot of support and boasting of it being even greater, didn't have that same feel. A surreal view on a normal operating world. That's the only difference really. Also, the cg at the time was unbelievable. Unlike anything I'd ever seen, in animation or story.
(For lack of a better poster. Damn thing doesn't even get respect online)

Mickey's Christmas Carol - Seriously, this film deserves respect! It's proably my favorite christmas feature of all time, along with Home Alone. Those 2 films
were my christmas. The music is brilliant throughout, subtle animation, great characters, body language, surreal and fantastical look to the environments.. Not to mention the spirits of christmas past, present, and future. Incredible. Jiminy Cricket, the giant.. The way he's revealed is just awesome animation, classic. The eye popping through the curtains of McScrooge's bed. Also, the trip he has around town with Scrooge. Opening the roof of the house like a door. The using a light post as a flash light. Such lasting images for a child. And the past was so incredibly sad. Another great moral lesson, one not weak or crushed into your head. Beautiful tale, with Disney characters in some of their greatest roles. My favorite "Christmas Carol" by far. Bar none.
2.
The Iron Giant - Haven't I already pushed and pushed this film? It's a sweet and subtle story. A boy who's one of the best written in any movie, let alone an animated one. It's got great dialogue, great character growth, wonderful animation, memorable characters. Kent is just hilarious. Seriously, one of the funniest animated characters ever. Bird's animation is unlike anyone else either. So many changing expressions every second, and all so subtley real. A really overlooked film as far as quality animation goes. They also did an awesome job on the Giant. Who in itself is awesome looking. A story with drama, ups n downs, heights of greatness, and heart. I think I seriously watched through this twice or two in a half times on cartoon network, prior to the special edition dvd releasing. You can tell the animator's enjoyed it that much, so it's so easy for you to do the same.

Lion King - The epic as far as I'm concerned. The best animated tale yet. From beginning to end, the movie just nails incredible scene after incredible scene. Simba's birth, the father/son relationship, the stampede, etc. Call it a rip off, don't want to hear of about it considering how much this film did better than anyone else. And the characters. They're also incredible, supplying the story with what they were meant to. Rafiki's knowledge isn't cheap or toned down for kids, it's entirely thoughtful and wise. Timon and Pumba supplied friendship when Simba needed it most. Scar is incredible, and the story holds nothing back. These characters just take over the screen. No movie after this from Disney had characters with such influential roles. They were just entitled 'sidekicks' becuase that's what worked before they thought. They didn't realize the brilliant of this film or it's characters. It's not a story you sum up, it's a movie filled to the brim with stuff better that no other animated feature matches scene for scene. Though of course not many try the same method of a film's pacing. It's incredibly hard to match after all. But I mean, it's a blunt film, with no sugercoating, and a lot of brain. The morals in this movie and the scenes are just classic, and were classic from the day they were shown. Trust me, this will be a film that's going to impact kid's for so so long. The gem of a recent generation's classics. And I gotta say, the best animated film ever.
