The only headset I've ever had for online games was the one I got with the original Socom and I use that online. I probably need to get a pc headset someday but need an xbox live one soon. Here's my choices (or any others I forgot to mention. Don't need wireless but if it's a good deal)

The only ones worth anything IMO are the headsets by Plantronics ( they make the Halo2 headset and the basic headset, thats included in the Xbox live starter pack ).

We get all the other headsets returned all the time at my store.

- Note, the Halo 2 headset does not come with the controller piece - you have to acquire that from a previous Live headset, or buy it seperate.

ACTUALLY... you can't use just any headset... you need to have the piece that fits into the controller before you buy just any headset.

I've learned this recently... and the only way I can get that piece (that I've seen in the stores) is to buy that stupid $70 12-month starter set. I can't even find a 3-month anywhere.

Anyone know of any places I can get the piece?

I think you need the black box to plug into the controller, so your only initial option is the offical headsets

You can find that piece with the normal headset by its self ( no live months added ) for 30 bucks.

Other than that, look to e-bay, or a friend who broke their headset.

Just get the official Microsoft headset itself. You can find it in stores for $30.

plantronics also makes a $20 headset that is a traditional over the top style rather than behind the head...

Right, but that headset does not come with that controller piece to make it work.

Its a big pain.
