The Best Video Game Trailer Ever Made

The MGS2 trailer sent chills down my spine. :lol

But I'd say the MGS3 trailers are even better (they just didn't have as much impact). My favourite was the TGS2004 one that introduced Boss and the baddies...that was a beautiful trailer and just floored me completely

The two Zelda 2005 trailers were awesome as well

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Warrior Within both had some of the best trailers I have ever seen. Warrior Within won best game trailer of the year according to gametrailers.com.

Basically any trailer Konami has produced this generation, puts just about everybody else to shame. MGS2's trailer especially. People came for that one.

I still fire up ZoE2's trailer when the mood strikes me. :D

Was there ever an amazing Mario 64 trailer?

I didn't have the interweb back then so I can't say, but I can tell you I definitely did go to Toys R Us repeatedly just to play the game at the kiosk. 96 was a cool year

Please can someone post a link to the MGS2 2000 E3 Trailer, I need to watch it again(I can't download from the link on the first page)

My vote goes to MGS2: Sons of Liberty E3 2000 trailer.

Anyone got a link to a non-direct feed mgs2 trailer with crowds etc.
I want to see the reaction :D

MGS2 definitely the best trailer for its time.

I was pretty blown away by the commercials and trailers for FF7 and Zelda 64 at the time, but damn those games have aged badly.

I think we need an honorable mention for Mario3, that is the only other game I can think of where its trailer (The Wizard) is in the same league as MGS2.

Half Life 2 was the last game to really blow me away just from watching a video.

It will be interesting to see what they come up for this E3.

that PoP:WW one made me skin tingle. awesome shit.... really. makes me wanna play the game now, and I was never sure if I wanted to before.

The first time Halo 2 was ever shown, not the E3 gameplay trailer...the one where he jumps out of the ship on to the Covenant Cruiser and the Halo chant kicks in as he free falls...:O

I liked the E3 '04 Zelda trailer for sure; it definitely screamed epic and classy, more so than a great deal of Nintendo's work in the past few years, and it just made everyone so happy to watch.

Hm... the only other really great one I can think of currently (I've seen a lot, but I don't remember them right now) would probably be the E3 2001 debut of Super Smash Bros. Melee, the shorter version shown during Nintendo's conference. (The long trailer's great, but I didn't see it until I had my hands on the game, so it was a bit moot.) Oh, man, watching that on Tech TV, just... blown away. It was how Nintendo next-gen should look. And both the characters I wrote into a Nintendo.com survey, Peach and Bowser, appeared as new playable characters. (And Peach just seemed so unlikely at the time!) So that was obviously worth a few extra curses in surprise when that footage rolled.

The Gamecube was also quite new at that point, and there was some debate whether or not the GCN was actually doing the intro portion (what we know now is CG) in real-time. Unfortunately, the ultimate disproving point was the Yoshi stampede.

So considering how long HAL's been working on the new Smash (notice how absolutely quiet they've been, save for a GBA project here or there, even Amazing Mirror was outsourced to Flagship instead of developed internally), and how important Nintendo knows it is (single-best seller on the Gamecube), I bet they're going to really pull out all the stops the next time they show it off. And I'll be comatose on the floor the next few minutes afterward.

I'll go with the crowd and say the MGS2 E3 2000 trailer, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Oh yeah, like the majority of people here, the MGS2 trailer just made my jaw drop. I remember people claiming those scene's couldn't be done in realtime on the PS2.

If anyone has a link to it, please share!

You know, the MGS2 trailer at E3 2000 was pretty good!!

I got to attend the unveiling event on the Universal lot and see it the first time it was ever shown publically, before E3. Am I a terrible person if that's one of the coolest moments of my life? I mean, I must have watched it another four or five times on the show floor afterwards, but to see that trailer for the FIRST TIME when NOBODY knew what to expect ... we didn't even have people telling us "YOU MUST SEE IT, IT LOOKS SO GOOD, YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT." We just showed up to the event, got in the theater, saw The Trailer, and kinda stared at each other in glassy-eyed disbelief.

The TGS 2004 MGS3 trailer which introduces Cobra Unit is fucking rad, too. Didn't have the same impact as the MGS2 trailer, but it did get me interested in playing MGS3 after the slight disappointment of MGS2 the game. Thank goodness! MGS3 rocks. :)

Gotta go with the MGS2 2000 trailer. I was there, it was fantastic, people were lying on the floor to watch it on that nice big screen. Everyone enjoyed it.

Honorable Mentions:

Zelda NGS 2004 E3
Xenosaga Ep. 1 TGS 2002?
Zone of the Enders 2 E3 2003

One more vote for MGS2.

Since I didn't go to E3 that year, my favorite I saw in person was Halo 2's from E3 2003. I got in line for the Halo 2 thing, assuming it would just be a prerecorded movie. When I got inside and saw an Xbox and controller in there, it dawned on me that they would actually be demoing the game in front of us. That was a pretty sweet moment.

Zelda from Nintendo's press conference last year was also up there, mainly because no one had any idea it was coming. The room was mostly silent for those first few seconds when no one was 100% sure what game the trailer was for, then just exploded when it finally showed Link.

I think it is a tie between Zelda from E3 2004 and the MGS 2 trailer.

With MGS2 it was a huge impact because we never saw anything quite like it before. The editing, sound, everything was spot on. It was the first indication we got of what a REAL next gen game was supposed to be like. (Meaning gen after dreamcast)

The Zelda 2004 trailer is up there just for shock value. It was totally unexpected and hey, its Zelda. That trailer gave me the warm and fuzzies unlike any other video game trailer ever.

Never saw the MGS2 trailer, but the MGS3 one was great, save for a couple of cheesy on-screen words.

The 2004 E3 Zelda one flatout wins just for the way it was presented. Absolutely perfect in that regard.

No trailer shook the industry like the MGS2 trailer. It led to opm releasing the whole thing on a disc, every website splooging over it, various magazines breaking down every scene, and every trailer of the game to follow. You couldn't top that. People we so damn hyped for another MGS simply, and you mix that trailer with all the warm feelings of the original, and the promises of the future. Not to mention the score, gunfights and graphics. Unbelievable.

Are you trying to tell me that beat out the day one showing we saw on the floor? The pirate-style press swearing, the crowd so big it spread into other booths and smashed the fire code...the konami stage guy announcing it was real-time footage?

Getting completely blindsided by it in the theater is one thing, but I think there is something to be said for a vocal, possibly wandering audience. :lol

I remember when my best friend saw the MGS2 E3 2000 trailer, we had a VHS tape that came with a magazine with Konami trailers on it, and it was the first one, he kept rewinding it and playing it over and over again, many times every day... I almost got sick of it and he used to tell me "This IS the best game ever! You understand that right?" :lol
