Would be inclined to agree, until Reggie came out with that old "3ds ain't goin' nowhere. We're going to run them both because we can" line.


If i were a betting man, I'd think that this narrative that's popped up of Nintendo throwing all of their handheld and console devs into one basket might have been smoke.
Looking at the launch lineup and previews it kind of makes sense.
If there were one system out of the two that they need to be stable, it would be the current handheld. No reason to throw away the bread winner for shaky prospects.

So...I'm applying for a social media manager position?

Only reason I'm applying is because it's directly related to the field I'm in school for (Child and Youth Care), and the position is with the government in the ministry that oversees children and families in my province.

The position is looking for a 18 - 24 year-old and I'm 27, but without tooting my own horn, I'm basically the perfect candidate for the job. Minor graphic design skills are an asset (which I have because I originally wanted to get into graphic design/illustration) and like I mentioned, the degree I'm completing is the degree for that field next to social work. I'm also pretty damn hip and into fashion which gives me cred with youth.

I don't really want more work (I work already as a special education assistant 15 hours a week, and am doing an unpaid intership for 12 hours a week, plus my class), but it might just be a valuable opportunity and it's only 17 hours a month so it might not be bad.

That was different though. Those three were too many handhelds to sustain in their own pool. And honestly, if anyone believed that one, that's on them. They never attempted to cannibalize their own user base, they simply phased them over. The Switch is a home console that you can take on the go. But it's not a real handheld with a fully functional infrastructure. It only works to its potential at home and docked. Also, the 3ds was the obvious upgrade to the DS and became their absolute cash cow. Currently their 3ds pool is so deep that they just need to stay consistent. It makes zero sense to completely strip mine your money maker to invest heavily into the 3rd iteration of the wii concept.


Edit:
We'll probably see smaller, quicker to produce games to come out for the sake of building a library before groups return to their proper projects.
This is all just speculation of course.

the third pillar talk was CYA bullshit from the start. It was to give them an out if the DS tanked. I think the plan was that if DS tanked, at least it had a GBA slot and they could sell GBA titles to both bases while they got their "real game boy successor" out the door


it's honestly the same shit with Scorpio and the PS4 Pro. Go on about how nobody can make Pro/Scorp exclusives. If Pro/Scorp ever become a signifant portion of the base, then you start allowing exclusive titles and phase everyone over. If they don't, "lol it was just a mid-gen upgrade! the REAL next gen starts in ___"


Also, the GBA Micro fucking bombed considering it's library, the SP was the perfect form factor for that particular platform.

You have to have some kind of suspension of disbelief about yourself. Nu-black, special black, talented tenth, whatever you want to call yourself. Here's hoping, but again it's main selling point was what we believe to be the unification of their forces. That's pretty much how you get everyone on board after the shit show that was the WiiU.

I'm gonna decide if I'm gonna get it at launch or not depending on my tax refund. Gotta get my car back on the road and insured. Anything left will go towards that good ol' Switch, Zelda and Puyo Puyo Tetris. And maybe Bomberman.
