So the first episode of this new podcast
Conversations With People Who Hate Me is out and I can't believe how hilariously frustrating it was. In regards to the guest rather than the host. The basic break down is Dylan Marron, a staunch progressive and activist for social justice calls up the people who've left hateful, bigoted comments toward him. On this first episode, just to get it out of the way, a married adult male who isn't a fan of immigrants and likes to talk about the problem of "black criminality" (aka black on black crime) is the first guest. But literally, every subject just reveals that this guy has literally never gone beyond the surface level of his opinions.
He's called on each of his opinions like how "Native Americans have nothing to stress about since they're all rich now with their casinos", the host says, "Well actually there are severe poverty problems within those communities" and the guy is like "Well yeah I guess you're right about that." The guest literally has zero cogent arguments and once he's pointed out to the fact that actually no he isn't right about X bigoted belief he cedes. And not in a genuine way which is the part that pisses me off. He's just so flippant about it in a way that doesn't convince me that he actually plans to change any of his opinions. "Whoops, I guess believed this bigoted thing for flimsy reasons". I dunno. I guess I'm talking about this in the first place because I'd like some other input to help me process the show and my feelings about it and the people guaranteed to appear on it in the first place.
Morning Gaf, I had a coworker go off at work and unironiclly use the term femnazis and she's, while we were talking about anime and games.
When this is said unironically, I feel that it's appropriate to ask that person how they managed to escape from the male genocide wrought by the "feminazis".
