I don't normally start political threads, but I thought I'd share this video because I'm just shocked how the republican party is pulling this 'We aren't going to play the blame game...', and use that as an excuse not to answer basic questions.

Check out this video.

I mean really, at this point just lie about it. I mean really would the White House say they DON'T have confidence in the people they have in charge of the efforts in New Orleans? But he won't even say yes.

Counting the days until 2006 election...

And who the fuck do you think will be elected?

Bush and his entire administration got elected not once, but twice by the american public.

It will be a different candidate, same shit.

Republican majority in 2006 ahoy! =O

They say something like this because once the shitstorm is over, they'll be forgiven. They may well feel there's no real alternative for centrists or the center-right, and as long as they think so, why not run roughshod over a dead American city?

If democrats regain majority in 2006, all you'll end up with is a government that is doing even LESS than what it's doing now, since everything will just end up being deadlocked.

I really don't mind that, because Bush will be a lame duck anyway. And really I'm not talking about the democrats regaining control of the house or the senate, but just a change in the overall feeling that these guys voted into office were a joke. Especially when they based majority of the campaign on 'Vote for the other guy and you might die!! Vote for us and we will protect you!'

Despite the fact that this makes no sense whatsoever, I'd be overjoyed if Dems regained majority in '06, if only to temper the right-wing extremism that's plagued this country for most of this decade.

You guys don't just need a new administration, you need that and a revised system of checks & balances for whatever administration you get, period. - One that is impervious to the ravages of those that fuck with the common man.

And I'm not saying we're any better off than you either.

If we want to spread democracy to the parts of the world that don't recognise it's benefits we have to show them that it's not just about the top of the pile, but about the rights and happiness of everyone.

Unrealistically idealistic and simplistic? Probably :(

I'd rather have this country headed no where than in the wrong direction.

It makes perfect sense, just as it did when Clinton had to deal with a Republican Congress and when Reagan had to deal with a Democrat Congress. For better or worse, divided government = more political gridlock.
