The Blue Ranger is gay.

Is he really that unrecognizable? It's really just the hairline. I had a harder time recognizing everyone's favorite Red Ranger.

Oh piss, he was my favorite ranger EVAR! I can't believe this is him now. Too bad those rumors about him doing gay porn were false :lol

Anyway the interview was great. When Billy left the show I was like "wth, he's the only original left :(". It must have been really hard for him to walk away because even if he got humiliated, he still seemed to enjoy working there with his castmates. The way he talks about all of them and being on set, he seems so happy remembering the good times. And oh gosh what went down after the show? It really makes me feel sad for him :( On a related note I watched one of his reality shows, "Temptation Island" lol, it was ok.

I think most of the original cast have aged well sans David Yost (he's starting to look like Lance Henriksen now :/) and Austin St. John. Both Walter Jones and Amy Jo Johnson look almost the same and Jason David Frank looks badass. Yikes, PR must have meant a lot to me as a child because I'm still kinda invested in all these actors :lol

AniHawk is collecting souls for the Devil. I knew it.
God told me when he was sending my conscious to a genetically altered tamarin monkey that my soul was protected by the rules he set up for humanity. Sentient monkeys for the win.

PJ Lee (Cassie from Turbo/in Space) also did. A few others have also had some minor roles here and there.

She started doing VAing before her stint on Power Rangers.

Damn...this is the saddest thing I've watched in quite a while.

Even as a kid I thought it was weird how he was written off the show, he abruptly went to study some aliens wtf?

Thuy Trang is dead.
Didn't even know this:( So sad reading the wiki.........Now I know why I didn't hear about this, the national media was still covering Aaliyah's Death and 9/11 came right afterwards....Crazy year.

David was already in his 20s when he started PR (remember it took Seasons 1-Zeo for the rangers to graduate, so the characters started as 14-16). Of course he looks older, but that's okay. He was awesome on the show.

That's a shame it took so long for the reason he left to come from him directly. I somewhat remember when there were discussions based on a (rumored?) pic/sighting of him kissing a guy (this was long after PR), but even then the most-stated reason was disputes between him and the crew.

Anyways he was already the Gold Ranger, remember that episode when

I'd put the Yellow Ranger lower, mostly for feeling like the token second female and for not actually being a female ranger (I wondered for years why the Pink Ranger had the skirt costume but the Yellow didn't :lol)
I think in the original Japanese show, the yellow ranger was a guy. That's why he never did any of those girlie stances. The actress that played her is dead I think.

I loved the Power Rangers when I was a kid, fuck those people that made this poor guy's life a hell. No one ever deserves to feel like shit for who they are. He was an icon of mine alongside the other actors on the show and I'll always look up upon him.

So is THIS why that one character in the fan-made Parody Rangers that replaced the original Blue Ranger was very flamboyant?

Anyway really sad to hear that. For a show that had all those PSAs too. What hypocritical jackasses.

I think I always liked the Blue Ranger best (Green was cool), and am not at all surprised to hear that he's gay. He seemed to give off that vibe, and I never had a problem with it, despite my being a straight male.

Power Rangers died for me one chunk at a time as the original cast was phased out. I pretty much stopped watching before his end and dropped it outright when I noticed that David Yost was gone. Watching that History of Power Rangers on Youtube, I saw how they shipped the Blue Ranger off to another planet without even involving his actor, like Simpsons parodied with Poochie, and I thought that was just brutal, but (even from my position as a kid) Power Rangers never seemed to give a damn about anything, least of all it's talent. I thought they just brutally fired him because he was disposable, and never would have guessed he quit because they treated him like someone who was worse than disposable.

I'm not surprised to hear that the crew was that homophobic. But then again, Yost didn't even out himself to the crew, did he? So maybe I should be more surprised. I might have guessed Yost was gay, but he wasn't that flamboyant. I guess the crew attacked anyone who looked even remotely gay. What I was surprised at was hearing that his bosses were grilling the other actors, trying to find out if they thought Yost was gay, because they really needed to know. That's just sick.

Part of me is sorry that he put up with more shit than the other actors, but another part of me is grateful because it cemented him as a hero and the one true Blue Ranger.

And Amy Jo Johnson is and always has been a mega hottie.

We will truly a progressive nation when they cast a male as the Pink Ranger.

Oh, and a non Asian for Yellow Ranger and non-black for Black Ranger would be first step.

Wow, fuck that production crew. Now that I'm aware of the discrimination that went on behind the scenes, I don't think I'll ever see that show the same way again.

Same here, I feel really bad for him

Some people are just assholes. Even otherwise good people can be assholes.

That's not meant to excuse their actions, and honestly it doesn't. But I've heard otherwise sensible people say some truly archaic things. My grandmother periodically goes on tangents about Spanish being on boxes of food.:lol

I don't get why people want to define each other by orientation, race, country of origin, or religion. What truly matters is who the person is. All people of the world have (and this is the scary part) the capacity to do something for the betterment of mankind, and detriment of mankind.

In that we are all equally flawed.:D

Didn't Anthony Perkins went through something similar? Thinking that being gay was a disease and sought for help to try to get "cured"?

Pretty sad story. Blue Ranger was pretty cool.

So I knew that.

Pretty damn racist Zordon is. I don't remember that episode though.

It was probably a horrible coincidence. In the pilot, the Yellow Ranger and Black Ranger were played by actors of other races. Then again, the pilot Red Ranger was Native American.

Yeah, Patricia J Lee didn't really take off until recently (especially now that she's Jill Valentine). Alternatively, you have random monster voice actors that started in PR that are now pretty big in anime roles (Batou from Ghost in the Shell is one example).

Man, when I first saw the thread title, I thought, "Jeez, what a weird account suicide. Besides I liked the Blue Ranger!" Then I realized...

Didn't know he was gay, didn't care, still don't care, he was the best. Though I do care now that the people involved with the show, including (apparently) higher ups, were giving him trouble for it. That is unacceptable. They should be ashamed of themselves. Nobody deserves that.

Glad that he's come to grips with himself. It would have been terrible to lose the best ranger. :(

I just knew it!
It's all good though - all the original rangers were awesome, and he's awesome for not destroying himself or letting others destroy him for who he is.

Original Red Ranger is still the best leader though - fuck Tommy.
Original Black Ranger is the second best black guy in the show's history, though - the best is the Red SPD Ranger. I love that guy!

SPD Red quit being a Ranger so he could bang a white girl. Pretty shameful.

You don't say.

Billy was my favorite ranger as a kid. Favorite color, favorite dinosaur... pretty much a no-brainer for me. Too bad about what happened to him, but good for him for standing up for himself even at the cost of a stable job.
