Some people thought this was Mando s3 (which Disney has already confirmed), but today they confirmed it’s a separate series:

Looks like theres going to be a lot to keep up with, but it's like the EU on screen. That's hard to complain about if you're into the Star Wars universe

Aside from his appearances in videogames like Jedi Academy and Battlefront 2 (the original one), I'm not that familiar with Fett's exploits in the now decanonized Expanded Universe.

How involved was he with the galactic Underworld after crawling out of the Sarlacc Pit? Are there plot points that the show can follow?

Truthfully, I'm not super versed either. I've read some of the novels and I know there's some Fett stuff but I couldn't speak to it

My point was moreso that its awesome to have the world formally explored outside of the main Skywalker storyline, so much potential

I'm happy too. After 9 movies of the Skywalker saga, it'll be good to focus on other characters for once. Like these guys:

Boba is the only one of that group that got any screentime and development. It'd be cool if they popped up in the show so we can finally know what these bounty hunters are about.

Bossk and Dengar have some Clone Wars episodes if I’m remembering correctly. So there’s that at least. But yeah live action versions would be killer.

Both Bossk and Dengar were in Clone Wars. And then Dengar showed up in Rise of Skywalker:

.....and the Sarlacc burped. The End.

I hope they rewrite the ending of that book.

That book isn't even canon anymore.

George always said he thought Boba escaped.

Rinzler wrote the three "Making of" books about the Original Trilogy that are REQUIRED READING before arguing about Star Wars on the internet.

George only threw Boba in the Sarlaac in ROTJ because he was stressed out about his divorce and didn't want to fuss with writing anything for the character in the third movie, so he just told them to "throw him into the pit" when asked what to do with Boba Fett.

It would be cool if they did some flashbacks, like the moment he falls into the sarlacc and escapes, or go way back to Empire and his arrival on Cloud City. I remember there being a story about Fett fighting an IG unit on Bespin, I think the other bounty hunters try and steal Han Solo in carbonite from him.

Can't wait.

It was canon before Disney and Boba always had escaped the pit.

In lore IG88 actually takes over the second Death Star just as the rebels destroy it lol.

Forgive my saying so, but it's nice to see you positive about this news. Not too long ago you were kind of salty about Boba Fett being brought back.

I guess they simply convinced me with the overall quality of what they did with him.

Yep, I have been wary about them bringing Boba back, but him being in the story made it better, instead of just bringing him back for the member berries and one episode of "oh look who we got here now".

This season has been nothing but a joy and the ending completely amazing to this old dog.

This is the sequel I have always wanted, and it seems I will be getting more of this..
I couldn't be happier.

lol you got your Boba Fett spinoff show from the Boba Fett spinoff show.

i saw the return of Boba episode and it was unimaginably boring to me. couple of people running around in the Cali desert. yawn.

also wow Boba Fett takes over Jabba the Hutt's palace. real original. how long did it take them to come up with that.

im done :pie_wfwt:

I am sure you will get another movie by Rian Johnson that is more to your exquisite tastes.

It's almost as if these characters such as Boba Fett are in a fictional universe, where in previous versions of media Boba Fett has worked for Jabba, and that the history of those characters might take place near or at locations that were literally at in the original trilogy.

That's like you living in one state your whole life, moving to another, and then looking at all your pictures and thinking about where and how you grew up, and asking yourself "Why are so many pictures and memories I have only from this one state?"

I'm actually triggered by your post right now.

He does this in any thread talking about Star Wars.

I’m excited. Give me all the Star Wars shows.

I also thought Solo was great and that people were nerf herders for not seeing that one since now we get to wait even longer for more live action Darth Maul.

I have never been a Boba Fett fan, but I like what Mando did with him, and look forward to seeing this new series.

Mando actually acknowledged the Prequels (gasp!) and The Clone Wars which gave him a character and more than just a cool looking suit like he was in ESB and ROTJ.

Theres a few too many Star Wars shows, but this is one of the hype ones for sure. It would be cool if it switched back and forth between the palace storyline and what happened after Return of the Jedi.

I agree in the original Trilogy, Fett is nothing. Just a bounty hunter that is a little smarter than the rest, but "dies" like a fool in the Deserts of Tatooine. I guess he is no longer dead now, but he was always nothing to get excited about in the original.

I guess he is a clone that found success finally.

Also FAT BIB FORTUNA cracked me up.

Rewatching scenes of Boba from Return of the Jedi and I stumbled across the scene from Jabba's Palace where the band performs. Here's the original 1983 version:

And here's the Special Edition version with new music and effects:

I definitely prefer the rough look and feel of the original 1983 scene over the overtly sleek Special Edition version, and I want this show to reflect that. This is the seedy underbelly of the Star Wars universe where the wretched hive of scum and villainy hang out. Give us some intimidating characters for Boba to go up against and not some goofy looking cg aliens.

That CG dance number is what happens when no one can tell Lucas “no”. It’s absolute trash.

The original isn’t some masterpiece but it feels more like an extended establishing shot of what’s going on rather than this in your face song.

Hopefully this core group of writers/producers/directors are handed the keys to a new trilogy. Love the direction they’re going.

Trilogies are over. It's the Marvel model of standalones leading to crossovers now.

So glad for that. Trilogies are an arbitrary holdover from Lucas that don't make a lot of sense in 2020.

It also increases tension for the viewer when you don't really know when or where a particular plotline is going to be resolved.

They made this statement to follow the Marvel model even before RoS was out. I think they have quietly canceled the Rian Johnson trilogy that was planned. I actually think this would be a smarter plan to have smaller stories about characters that eventually are forced together to stop the biggest bad. As long as it isn't Palpatine again. [it will probably be SNOKE]

I just hope that Bib Fortuna doesn't become a fan favorite in the mean time, so they don't need to explain why he isn't dead as well. :D
Bib Fortuna is a third rate Wormgtounge. He got all the screen time he needs. Nevermind the Expanded Universe with the Bounty Hunters short stories collection.

IG-11 was in the first episode of the Mandalorian

Saying that though I do like Fett’s interaction with the new dancers in the Special Edition, he is totally flirting with them in the new scenes. I think that ROTJ suffered the most from Lucas’ tampering but Fett came across as a cool mofo at the very least.

It also makes sense that they're going to have to start doing spinoffs.

They've had a lot of B list actors in the show over two seasons that they'll want to lock down with contracts and they've simply had too many for one show for the long term. I'm guessing they'll want to give the likes of Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Katee Sackhoff, and Timothy Olyphant a bit more space to do stuff without worrying about scheduling.

Not exactly massive names but maybe names that are big enough that Disney will want to dictate when and where they need to be for filming to keep things on schedule.

I hope Fett has more questionable morals than Djin. There was a lot of episodes that left me wondering why he even bothered keeping some people alive, or why not just shoot someone and be done with it (Cobb Vanth episode immediately comes to mind). It will be disappointing if he doesnt come off at least somewhat like a son of a bitch. Mando kinda came off like a choir boy through most of the series.
