(The Boys) Gen V Season 2 Trailer

Looks like an interesting setup with some plot threads and cameos that will lead into the final season of The Boys.

R.I.P. to actor Chance Perdomo (Andre in the show).

I heard the first season was terrible is this still the general consensus?
To me both these shows are nothing more than gore entertainment. No holding back or pulling punches. It does that very well and I don't seek too much if anything besides that.

I was thinking about this earlier today and was wondering when it was releasing. What a nice little coincidence.

It's fine filler between The Boys. Has some nice gore and pretty good scenes.
Not really necessary but doesn't hurt to have something for those that want more.

If you love black girlbosses, then it's good. Last season of The Boys was terrible too, imho. Soldier Boy returns in the final season, so it has some potential to be less terrible.

She wasn't a girl boss, tho. She spent most of the season with low self confidence. She made plenty of mistakes and got knocked around plenty. Unless you're talking about her tanking Homelander's heat vision in the finale

It was surprisingly decent! Kinda like Wednesday, but in The Boys universe - with all the gore, penises and stuff. Much better than the last season of The Boys. But it can, of course, fall apart as well...

I can't remember almost anything about it.
I remember enjoying it, but I can barely remember anything that happened. Hope they have a good recap.

It took place at a university full of supes, meant to train them and market them towards different parts of society so that they would be the next generation of 'The Seven' or in another job that would be Vought Adjacent. It had a secret experimental lab/prison where a brother of a main character escaped in the first episode, and everything started to unravel from there.

It also showcased the problems of randomly injecting kids with formula V which caused some of them to exhibit really bad side effects (or amplify them), like rage issues, schizophrenia, depression, suicidal tendencies, killing their own parents by accident, etc. (which was also showcased in The Boys: Diabolical animated show).

Thus, putting them all into one spot together with only two safeguards in place (and Homelander now behind the wheel of Vought), meant that everything was likely to erupt, crash, and burn at any moment anyway.

Oh well. More Jaz for me, then!
Anyone who watched the show knows that the girlboss comment was incorrect, as nearly every person in this show took losses, were betrayed, lost, self-harmed, or were taken advantage of. The one moment where they could have 'won' something, Homelander swooped in and essentially said

That's why he quickly backpedalled to 'She's not a good actress' because it's an opinion that can't be put into question.

I didn't, I commented "the most of the season" part.
This is also not true though. I don't even like this show as much but I at least want to call out what's true and what's not about it.

There are many other issues with it you can easily point out than the usual culture war topics, which would be near the very bottom of the list.

There's no The Boys without Antony Starr. The first three seasons of the boys were amazing. The forth was dogshit, and only had a few good mements. Haven't watched this spinoff, and each time i see the zoomer actors, i don't feel like wasting my time.

GenV is better than season 3 and 4 of The Boys.

Season 3 was doing well until the finale, where it destroyed everything it was building towards.

I loved everything about season 3 so there's no way i am seeing it being inferior to genv that i hear a lot of negativity about.
To be fair, in today's world you can hear negativity about anything.

It's why most things are simply worth checking out yourself if you're a little bit curious, just to be sure.

Even when they teamed up with Homelander to double-cross Soldier Boy? That was ridiculous even for the shows standards.

GenV has a story that moves from beginning to end. The main criticisms come from having a younger cast.

I love the boys quite a lot, so when they released genv, i did check a bunch of clips on youtube to see if its worth watching, and i haven't seen a single one that is even decent. The original cast for the boys is awesome, and in genv, its just whatever.

I had no issues with them teaming up. The only thing i disliked about season 3 is that soldier boy went back to bed by the end, which kinda sucked because his character is almost as good as homelander's in my opinion. Would've liked seeing him in Season 4, and instead, it will filled with random ass characters that waste a bunch of screen time.

I hear they're doing a spinoff with soldier boy, and if that's the case, that is a show i am very interested in seeing.

Soldier Boy showed up in GenV but it was very brief.

My problem with Gen-V is that is shows that these kids are all running around with loaded weapons and they kill random people ALL THE TIME and it's only sometimes that they seem to give a shit. The amount of casual murder these kids commit is off the charts and it shows that the only real solution is to terminate all of them with extreme prejudice.

Except the shinking girl...she fine.

You could say the same about The 7. They kill Innocents ALL THE TIME, too and really DO NOT give a shit. The lead girl (I forget the character name but she's played by Jaz Sinclair) actually wanted to save people... Instead of running in that first episode, like everyone else, she did just that.

Oh, I criticize The Boys writing team for the same stuff.

The main girl has this power that would presumably make her the single best trauma doctor ON THE PLANET as understanding and controlling blood flow is like 90% of that job. So why waste her time and talents on learning how to throw blood knives at people? This is a larger critique of the superhero genre in general, outside of some very specific examples like Hard Magic or Wild Cards, where powers lead more to occupational status than crime fighting. In stuff aimed at kids the crime fighting is obviously a draw, but for these adult superhero things it would be nice if they were more intelligently written to encompass ALL uses for these powers, not just "commit crime" and "i fight crime".
