As a long-established company that has offered us a wide variety of titles, a company that is the standard in the video game industry, and whose history has been about delivering fantastic, charismatic characters and, above all, FUN.

One of the companies I have the most faith in.

And Capcom's legacy is indelible for everyone.

The great history that has given us many characters who have won our hearts.

Starting their great run with Vulgus...

and bringing us the reality of Capcom's new IP... Pragmata.

Capcom's recent major contribution, the RE-Engine, stands as one of the greatest advancements in video game technology.

Capcom will always be known for its high quality and enduring legacy in video games.

Laugh Out Loud Lol GIF

Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon's Dogma 2 were technical disasters, plagued by bugs, frame rate issues, and general instability that made the experience a pain rather than a thrill

They still are lol

Capcom's history has produced a large number of games, many of which are fondly remembered by audiences, offering hours of fun.

Yeah, lets disregard their entire history because of that.

ffs.
Nah, nobody's disregarding Capcom's entire history

I'm just pointing out their recent big AAA swings (DD2 and MH Wilds) launched as straight-up technical shite: CPU meltdowns, stutters, crashes, sub-30fps tanks in open areas even on beasts like 4090s, turning hunts/exploration into frustration fests.

Fun gameplay underneath? Sure. But rushing RE Engine into massive open worlds without proper QA burned goodwill

History's dope, but recent rep took a hit. Players remember the pain, not just the classics. ffs indeed.

Half-assed new releases and remakes galore. Let's hope the next batch of games is way better than the last.

You said "always" though when they have a provable track record of also making some dogshit:

Chaos Legion
Devil May Cry 2
Dino Crisis 3
Umbrella Corps
Resident Evil Re:Verse
Resident Evil 6
Lost Planet 3
Dead Rising 4
ExoPrimal

CAPGOD!!!

Resident Evil 6 is misunderstood, but it's among the best Resident Evil games.

They need to delve deeper into the game and they will discover a hidden gem.

Capcom has done a lot of good games and I like them generally speaking. That being said they have disappointed me a few times.

The people behind RE6 should all be in jail charge with first degree murder. What an absolute joke of a game

Re3 Remake was quite underwhelming, they cut so many areas from the original that is not even funny

Dragons Dogma 2 was not good either although it has potential but they completely abandoned it

Monster Hunter Wilds was and is still a fucking joke. Absolutely broken performance wise, with very crappy graphics and textures and dialogues for 6 year old children. The gameplay can be fun but the formula is starting to feel stale

I loved RE2 Remake and R4 Remake, I believe those two games are absolutely incredible, no doubt. Village and Re7 are great but they dont reach the same level of greatness for me

Anyway what i want to say is that Capcom does good games but they are not consistent. Sometimes they really mess up

Let's see what happens with RE9. I am excited but ultimately cautious. You never know with them

So, less that 1% of their total catalogue then?

Lots of remakes and re-releases to be sure.

But it's not like we aren't getting Kinutsu-Gami, Pragmata, Requiem, Wilds, Stories 2, Dogma 2 etc. Not only new games but also new IPs.

Better than alot of what the industry is doing. Which is also lots of remakes and remakes, but relying mostly on legacy IP and sequels and Slooooowwwwlllyyy rolling out new IP. Well, and new IP that isn't an extraction/hero shooter/multiplayer type game and is single player and remotely unique is also pretty rare.

I remember back in the 90s, when all my gaming purchases were purely relying on word of mouth and boxarts, picking up a game that had the Capcom logo always meant I was in for a good time. One of the few publishers that have endured multiple generations, probably my favourite publisher of all time. That being said, where is my
physical version of "Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess", what is wrong with you Capcom, why is this digital only.

I have absolutely no doubt that Capcom is one of the best developers of all time - quite possibly the best. Though they've had some real ups and downs in the last 15 years. Early 2010s were pretty bad and, after recovering in the latter half of the decade, we're back on the decline, it seems. I really hope it's not too long before they figure their shit out again (and that hopefully Onimuisha actually delivers).

But yeah - as someone who loves arcade games and loved gaming during the PS2 era, Capcom was a huge part of that. A lot of my favorite games of all time, and stuff that I'm sure I'll be replaying for the rest of my life.

Wilds and Dogma 2 are the half-assed games I was referring to in my previous post, and we still don't know about Pragmata or RE9, they might be cool but they also might be rushed to appease to the investors. Kunitsu-Gami was cool, but can't speak for Stories 2 since I don't know much about that one.

Yeah that's true, but the rest of the AAA landscape being mostly shit shouldn't be an excuse. I think we deserve better.

They have been my favorite game company since SNES. I have had some issues in recent years like DD2's design and the particular tuning of dynamic drops in RE4R, but nothing to make me lose faith in them. I'm pretty much down to buy any new Capcom game.

RE Engine needs a lot of work in terms of performance in open world games but is otherwise really good. I think in time they'll learn where the inconsistency comes from and smooth it out.

I dont have negative opinion on Capcom like most people so because I personally enjoyed most of their recent games including MHWilds.

They still make the most fun games.

Thank God it's a Japanese company which is protected from foreign acquisitions else mindfuck executives in multi billion dollar US, EU, Chinese or Saudi firms/holdings/companies would have bought this and everything would have gone kingdom fuck.

Please don't touch Capcom, leave it as it is. It's the golden wonder kid.

Personally once Capcom had Mikami & Kamiya & company create DMC, Onimusha, and RE their previous efforts all felt very outdated. This is coming from the biggest Mega Man fan. Okami was Clovers best game. Platinum had Bayonetta 1, 2, 3, MGRR, Vanquish, & now NG4. Let's see what happens with RE9, Onimusha WS, and the new Okami.

Capcom does make quite a few games that I like, and bringing back more IP + making new stuff gives me hope they'll turn things around.

They just need to fix their engine when it comes to handling larger environments and/or open-worlds.

I'd really love if they started producing more smaller-scale indie-budget games with arcade-like design. I don't need everything to have a big story, I miss when they just made banger games anyone could pick up in a few minutes along with the rest of their big franchises or fighting games.

Will always have a soft spot for Capcom. They made my favourite franchise of all time in Resident Evil. Even in times like now where I rarely play games, I'll find time for a new Resident Evil.

I am fairly a new gamer whose 30+ but Resident Evil 2 Remake and Monster Hunter World won me so hard that I will always keep an eye on Capcom output.

Most publisher goes by years without producing 10/10 games and these guys do quite consistently. MH:Wilds ran like shit and still people couldn't stop playing it lol

Even accounting for not so great games, and I've been vocal enough about them, Capcom still has one of the greatest libraries out there thanks to some of the greatest names of their times like Mikami and Kamiya. They have plenty of long running IPs, which is more than a lot of companies can say.

Top 10 Capcom games (in no order):

  • Okami
  • Mega Man Legends
  • Mega Man Legends 2
  • Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
  • Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom
  • Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara
  • Breath of Fire IV
  • Mega Man Battle Network 3
  • Final Fight (Arcade Version)
  • Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
