"What if you didn't have to leave your couch to buy, and play, your favorite video games?"

That was the question a group of suits asked when coming up with the idea behind the Infinium Labs Phantom Game Receiver and Phantom Games Service. From a CEO that founded and left multiple companies, leaving a trail of lawsuits, SEC Filings, and more, to a Former Xbox executive joining the team looking to right the ship.

With an announcement coming in 2003, and the console being wiped off the company website by 2006, this is the story of The Console You've Never Heard of: The Phantom Games Console.

Intro: 00:00 - 01:25
Part 1 - Buyer Beware: 01:26 - 08:50
Part 2 - The Phantom Console: 08:51 - 17:00
Part 3 - A Working Prototype: 17:01 - 29:47
Conclusion - Icarus: 29:48 - 36:12

I know all about the Phantom. It seemed like a fraud the moment it showed up at E3. From a company in Florida. Somebody Laundered some money with that thing.

Back in the day when I used to go to E3 they had a booth set up at least one year... they were giving away shirts. Several years later I donated it to goodwill and saw someone wearing it in town like a month later lmao. Wish I had kept that shirt :/

It was the modern gaming PC that was ahead of its time, I doubt the broadband connections of the era could handle having to download DVD-sized games.
