I randomly came across this movie on IMDB and the more i read the comments the more intrigued i became. Apparently this was released in the U.S. with an X-rating about 10 years ago and has some very graphic and shocking sequences in it. Despite all the controversy, according to most reviews it also happens to be a pretty good film too. I can't seem to find the movie anywhere and I really want to find out why this movie is so notorious. Can any film buffs here clue me in? All of the reviews i've read tend to leave out the gory details. Thanks.

... and her Lover.

Quite an interesting movie - I really love the use of color. I honestly have no idea why it got an X rating, though it does have a lot of explicit sex (not more than many R-rated movies though). It also has a fairly violent ending if I remember correctly, but the DVD copy I have is rated R, so maybe it is an edited version.

Many have said the ending is very bizarre and probably the most shocking part of the film. Since i probably won't get a hold of the dvd for sometime can you tell me what happens? I don't care about spoilers. I'm just curious to know why so many people have such strong feelings and are even repulsed by it!

Brilliant cinematography. The costumes are also exceptional. The roasted cock was a bit took much for me. However the line that comes from that scene is great.

I seen this unedited a few years ago on Showcase. I have rented it a few times since.

Well, I can understand then how this would make most people uncomfortable. However, I still don't see why this would cause such a stir. Something like cannabalism had to have been explored in film many times before this movie came out. Why would this one film provoke such strong and horrified feelings by almost everyone whose seen it? Perhaps i've become desensitized to these kind of things. I must say i'm kinda let down by this 'shocking' ending! :lol

That movies was just out there, I liked it. Can't really imagine watching it all again though. GTA3 has a funny little set of missions that totally pay homage to that film too.
